I love FF8. Final Fantasy was in its prime from 6-10, in my opinion - hard to pick a best from that group. They're all superb!

@get2sammyb I think they have struggled to keep the series relevent for newer, younger players. People who grew up in the golden age of Final Fantasy still think it's huge, but I'm not convinced younger generations think the same way.

@Northern_munkey I do believe that around 30% of Larian is owned by Tencent, so they’re not fully independent. Development studios are reliant on publishers for funding, since making games takes many years often with tens, hundreds or even thousands of people (depending on the game) and the money otherwise doesn’t come in until the game is released. It is a high risk business as many game projects don’t even make it to release.

Some of the writing reads a bit goofy. I can't ever imagine a teenager saying that. But otherwise, the game looks promising. Very nice style.

@ErrantRob I felt the same way, until I played it, and now I absolutely love it. If you haven't tried it, give it a go! I think you will be surprised by how compelling it is.

To be honest, looks like an upgrade to me. The original is tacky.

I think it's going to be a game as a service in some form, so I am guessing it will be on PS4 too.

@REALAIS Oh man! I hadn't realised that, but I think you may be right. I was having a good competitive rally in Career mode the other day and I took a break midway through, came back, and then I was beating everyone by literal minutes in each stage for the last couple.

Really glad to see a nice big update like this. Hopefully they can solve the screen tear issue.

The game is fantastic. I’ve had a great time with it over the last week. But the frame rate problems and screen tearing is frequent and really irritating. I really hope there are some fixes on the way.

@Titntin nah, I’m still a fan of the series. I loved 7 Remake and I’m definitely excited for Rebirth. I just don’t think I like Yoshi P’s games. Wish I did. I seem to be in the minority. It just is what it is. 🤷‍♂️

I really didn't like Final Fantasy 16 at all. I also don't love 14. I am a lifelong FF fan, but not these two entries, I'm afraid.

Square Enix are weird, but actually, these are not conflicting statements at all. The first statement says that the sales were strong GIVEN the adoption rate of the PS5. The more recent statement says that the sales figures for the game are lower than anticipated due to PS5 adoption rate being lower than anticipated. Both of these can be true at the same time. So really, it's NOT a conflicting statement, it's more of a mess up of what they consider to be a realistic adoption rate of the PS5 given that it's breaking sales records. What I really want to know is how shareholders can keep accepting these excuses from upper management without recourse, especially given the sales data of the console.

This is quite clearly so they can re-release a “Golden/FES/Royal” edition later and charge full price again. This is just what Altus does. They probably even budget the development accordingly, knowing they will release the game multiple times and get revenue from both releases.

So no WRC game this year then?

It’s too expensive. The hardware is worth the price, but people aren’t willing to pay that much right now when the cost of living is going through the roof. It’s a luxury device. I think PSVR2 is going to be a big failure, sadly.

It’s a great game - it always has been - but in the modern context of gaming, there’s no way this game is a 10/10 as a new release. I think a lot of reviewers have been badly guided by nostalgia here. The level design - while excellent for its time - is very dated now. Narrow corridors everywhere. I don’t mind it, but it’s dated. Oddly enough, I think it feels older than the RE2 Remake. Still, RE4 Remake is a great game. I’d give it an 8/10.

I’ve put over 300 hours into the Pc version. Regularly play online with a friend. Absolutely superb strategy game. Very addictive.

Also worth pointing out that this game was NOT made by TT Games, so not the same studio that made all the other major LEGO games such as the Skywalker Saga.

195hrs total for me. Top game: Judgment, 63 hours. Only played 15 games in 2021. I knew it was quiet, but that's very quiet.

Black plates and a purple controller for me. Lovely! It's like the PS2 with the blue/purple discs. What a combo!

I know this isn't a popular opinion, but I'm really enjoying Fifa 22. Using my own custom club in Career mode is awesome, and the gameplay feels better than ever. Goalkeepers are a bit superhuman, though, but I prefer that to useless keepers that can't save anything ala Fifa 21.

Looks like it could be quite fun as a mobile game (dare I say it), but can't imagine playing this on a console.

I've been playing this here and there on PC for the last few weeks and I like it quite a lot. I'm not the biggest multiplayer shooter guy, but I love me some portal mechanics and it does have a distinct Halo "feel". It's got promise!

I think the 3D Audio feature is a bit rubbish, honestly. I play with a really good set of Sennheiser headphones, and when I toggle 3D audio on, the sound becomes far more muffled and closed. Turn the feature off, and it's much clearer. Not worth the 3D effect for what sounds like a clear and obvious downgrade in clarity to me.

Playing this just now on PS5 and loving every second of it.

Jim Ryan really is an expert at saying the wrong thing, huh? Not that it's wrong to want to extend your reach, but he must know that kind of quote isn't going to go down well with his primary supporters. Surely he knows?

I know I'm in the minority, but I just didn't really like Horizon Zero Dawn. I REALLY wanted to, and I've started it 4 times now hoping to get into it, but I just can't. So, yeah, this one's not for me, but it looks like it's giving plenty more of the same for those who loved the first game.

@Residentsteven Nah, this game is wonderful. Trully some of the funniest writing I've seen in a game.

It does the job, but it could definitely be better. The curation absolutely could be better, and I have no idea why they haven't implemented a way to hide games from the store that you already own. It's irritating when you're looking through the latest deals page and almost half the games say "purchased" - just filter them out.

Looks sublime, but I can't bring myself to pay £70 for a game.
