Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 404

Jayofmaya

Decided to have a crack at the rebooted Tomb Raider trilogy so did Definitive Edition 100% this week. Just finished up. Also been playing Knockout City a bit. The mechanics allow for some rather complex strategies if you are meticulous and I managed MVP 4 or 5 times in my 14 or so matches. Will probably continue FF 14 tomorrow or maybe will give the final level of Contagion VR (managed the platinum without even trying the last level lol) a go.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Thankful for in Gaming?

Jayofmaya

@get2sammyb Thanks for the wholesome article. I am thankful that more studios than ever are starting up and we're still getting some interesting indies which sometimes succeed enough to warrant a sequel or more games in that style. I also remember to occasionally do this in the mirror with my life in general. Helped me tackle my depression and turn my life around. Easier to make a difference when you feel good in yourself and remember that the walls can still be painted Happy gaming people ^_^

Re: Soapbox: I Think I'm Over Trophies

Jayofmaya

@Sorteddan This. I always used to scroll down my list seeing incomplete bars as if I hadn't 100% the games. If I hadn't done that, fine, I didn't like the game enough anyway, but if I had (which I do with many, many games I play) I get a bit annoyed that there are a bunch of things I have to replay the game for, or go to the online mode and hope there will be someone to play against (or ask the reddit sub of respective game) or even repeat the game on the newly unlocked Nightmare difficulty. It's just annoying, 100% trophy list should be 100% the game and maybe a couple bits you can easily clear after. I don't even care about the platinum, but rather the percentage bars being all over the place haha

Re: Soapbox: I Think I'm Over Trophies

Jayofmaya

The first few paragraphs of this article (minus Super Stardust and working at Pushsquare... We can always change both of those, wink wink ) all sounded very familiar... But 149 is a massive amount of Platinum trophies. Haha I have 24 and I know it is because I never replayed the games in Hard mode, minus Darksiders 1 and Brütal Legend. Also, I will partially blame my absence of about 3 years from Playstation when I sold all my stuff in like 2016. You also nailed what I was thinking last night, though. If I can't get the plat, what's the point? I'll usually 100% the game and then look at Trophies again and see if there's anything I can do to finish up, but beyond that I'm not too interested. There are so many online MP only trophies, too and I'm still playing catch up on some series, so I can never find a game. I think it's about time I started ignoring it for good, too.

Re: Tekken 7's New Definitive Edition Is Hilariously Overpriced

Jayofmaya

I used to love Tekken.. 2, when I was 6 or 7. I even got Tekken 3 and played the brawler part "Chicken!!!". However, since then I have much preferred UMC 3 and Injustice, still play them bow and then. Not really interested in any others, though. Even sequels just sound more of the same, bit like a football game lol

Re: Rumour: PS Plus December 2021 PS5, PS4 Games Leaked Early

Jayofmaya

That's not a bad month. My little one will probably start playing DC Villains and the Marvels Avengers one I bought for him soon. He's just a little rubbish at the moment because he's 3 haha As for Godfall, eh, not bad, will try it and Mortal Shell is too souls like but again, will try it some day. Over all not bad and will add them all, which I rarely do.

Re: Talking Point: What PS Plus Games for December 2021 Do You Want?

Jayofmaya

I have 41 plus games in my library (I also DID have Battlefield 5 but it went missing) and I'll play through them all except NBA 2k20, which I got local multiplayer only. That's not at all bad considering I signed up June 2020. Not really too worried about it, but something that has a big festive event somewhere in the game would be cool. I am, deep down, like us all, a child! And it is fun Pretty busy this weekend so if I don't visit the site, happy gaming everyone!

Re: Pac-Man Museum+ Chomps PS4 with 14 Games Next Year

Jayofmaya

Yeah, meh. I liked the multiplayed they had in the Ghostly Adventures but never cared for the OG pac games. Think I reached level 5 once on my super duper old Mobile phone back when I was a kid because that was the best kind of game you could get on it, accept Ghosts n Goblins.

Re: UK Readers, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Is £25 with a Tesco Clubcard Tomorrow

Jayofmaya

That's a good deal. If I had a ps5 I'd be on that for sure. They absolutely love slashing prices at the moment. I've went in and left with a couple of massive pizzas, a few sides, a desert, a bottle of tasty lemon flavoured gin and some health conscious smoothies for the day after for like 37 quid recently. Who wants to go to a pub when you can do that? Lol

Re: Poll: Did You Buy GTA Trilogy?

Jayofmaya

Will wait and see how the patches fare. I'm sure it's not as bad as it's made out to be, but the way the rain is would make me have to play as a prom queen candidate who has just had her hair done before her big night... But no one had an umbrella.

Re: SteamWorld Headhunter Moves the Series to 3D in Third Person Co-Op Adventure

Jayofmaya

I read they were making a follow on from Dig 2 a few weeks back after buying Dig on the 3rd platform when it was on sale on ps store. Sounds interesting, but I didn't like Gilgamesh enough to purchase it and never saw Heist through to the end, but bought it again on sale so will try again at some point. Hopefully it will be good and not have some non-real time strategy mechanic...

Re: No, Tommy Vercetti Still Can't Swim in GTA Vice City on PS5, PS4

Jayofmaya

Tommy Vercetti wasn't taught as a child because his parents never thought he'd have any maritime adventures, but that he would take over the exotic clothes peddling business they had scraped tooth and nail to set up. As a child Tommy was sometimes the subject of ridicule to the other children for his inability to do something that the other children considered basic and once found himself falling into the waterways of Liberty City after the school bullies knocked him down and threw him in... Such a traumatising experience lead Tommy to a fear of bodies of water bigger than himself, but he recalled the words of mama "If you let the fear control you, you will never experience the life to the fullest." along with his father's proverb "Who is in fear of every leaf must avoid the woods" whenever he was near water. He would never try to swim but he would walk alongside the ocean as if walking through a building that's walls were ablaze. Don't throw Tommy into the water guys, you're no better than the bullies if you do.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 401

Jayofmaya

Been playing FFXIV free trial now I have finished 7 remake. Was going to play with my mate but bizarrely they won't let us party up, way to ruin the experience! Apparently you can get a non trial player to party you when you're f2p so will try that after we hit level 30 or so and do some dungeons or whatever together. For now, solo running.

Re: Best GTA Games

Jayofmaya

Never played Chinatown Wars or Vice City Stories (despite own the latter) but one day I'll take the time to finish this series just like I am Final Fantasy. San Andreas was the first open world game I ever 100%, though so absolutely number 1 for me. GTA 4 crashed on my 360 back in the day, destroying 3 hours of progress since my last save, stopped playing after that. It was good until then, though. Need a remaster for ps4/5 that works properly.

Re: RPGolf Legends Putts a Little Zelda on PS5, PS4

Jayofmaya

Lol this a Kemco game so I'd be careful not to get your hopes up. However they may have learned how to copy other games better than before and mght make a decent Golf Story clone. I 100% Golf Story and would advise anyone who has a Switch and likes RPGs and Mario/Everybody's Golf to give it a go.

Re: Mini Review: Pumpkin Jack: New-Gen Edition (PS5) - Halloween Platformer Is Four Hours of PS2 Era Fun

Jayofmaya

Just completed the ps4 version. It can't quite hold a candle to MediEvil, so for me, it's more of a Jack-no-lantern. The movement doesn't feel good and the enemies don't change up enough. The combat is easy to master and the bosses are just pretty standard old school bosses. The retro feel is all it can sell itself on. I've had worse times but the levels are more forgettable compared to something like MediEvil. The hidden collectables aren't really hidden well at all, managed to get them all first time round and so ended with the platinum (Great if you're a trophy hunter). The music and character speech art are probably the best things about the game. A 6 would be the absolute best for me.

Re: Poll: Last Chance to Rate the Best GTA Games on PlayStation

Jayofmaya

GTA 5 and San Andreas are 10s for me. I started out in the OG way back when I was like 7. In that game was the first time I heard "D***wad" and that was a great thing to copy and tell to my friends. I also remember killing random people for no reason, I remember feeling a little bad for those pixels for a bit. Lol

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 400

Jayofmaya

Gonna try and finish FF7 Remake but chapter 17 really slowed the pace down to a near halt so haven't played it for a couple days. Probably try and get on the Dreams VR as I only managed to get through 1 of the Ghost Trains. Also will log in to Genshin Impact briefly. Oh and happy gaming! Have fun and be happy
