Started off really good! Then a few days in me and my brother noticed we were 85% done with the story, and we were doing all sorts of side missions and pacing ourselves well. Not to mention the later part of the game was basically a rip off of Web of Shadows…It was fun though, I’m not denying that. Just a lackluster story.
@throwmeaname I feel people invest too much stock in going off reviews. If you want to know how a game is, just play the damn thing. I’ve seen my brother enjoy and have a lot of fun in games that are negatively reviewed. Hell, I enjoyed Sonic 06 with him! The only thing I do care about in reviews is if a game is truly glitchy enough that it actually makes in unplayable.
@McTwist Right? Like why are those the only things that people seem to care about anymore? Why can’t we just enjoy playing a nice fun game? I just got a Game Boy Color, I could care less about all this high resolution high FPS stuff.
@PuppetMaster Exactly! What I hate is when games are advertised now with DLC BEFORE they even come out. To me it just feels greedy and scummy. If all that is planned, just put it straight into the base game. It’s actually nice to have a full big budget game for once, even if it wasn’t exactly what I wanted story-wise.
@QiaraIris I actually like the idea of a big AAA game NOT getting DLC for once. Just shows that someone actually made a fully finished product for once, updates aside.
@Jaz007 Or how much it even accounts for some of that silly shovelware people buy out of curiosity that’s under $5. That definitely adds to things a lot I think.
I’d still rather have physical. Granted the only systems I have are a 3DS, 360, Vita, and GBC. I’m thinking of getting a PS4, but would still rather have physically. You can get used games cheaper year round, rather than having to wait for a sale on the digital store. My brother is the same way, having a massive physical game collection, but will buy digital Switch games at when they run massive sales or for games that aren’t available physically. I really don’t like all digital anything. My internet is lousy, and don’t want to have to deal with waiting forever to download an entire game. DLC or updates are fine, but it’s too much of a headache for me.
@MeatyVeg I never saw problems or glitches. Nor crashing. I remember hearing it was bad at launch, but had zero issues gameplay wise from what I saw. Guess we were just lucky.
@WhiteTrashGuy I remember how it seemed like it was really good. I don’t have it, but I watched my brother play and took a few turns myself. Then all of a sudden I noticed how it said we were like 85% done with the story. It was barely starting, and then we were at the end?! I also felt the last part of it just completely ripped of Web of Shadows. I was so enjoying this game, then was completely put off and just irritated at how lousy it was…
So no real changes to Great Ape Vegeta unless you already make it easy? Is that what I’m reading? Guess that’ll just make me more determined! I’ll try again when my brothers done with his current game to try again.
Ah. Oh well. The game was fun, I will admit. But the story was way too short and the ending was lousy. I’d be interested in maybe seeing some more suits in DLC. I don’t remember the game being super buggy at launch though?
I played a bit with my brother the first few days. It’s a lot of fun! But that damn Great Ape Vegeta!! We mostly just do battle modes though, since he has every Gogeta unlocked. Hopefully we get back to it soon.
@Dalamar While I so enjoy some things like Uncharted, Japanese games are what I prefer, especially Gust! Actually, now that I think about it, when I DO look for games, I gravitate towards Japanese ones. AA RPGs are my favorites.
@UltimateOtaku91 Yep! That’s where you can find among the best games! JRPGs, visual novels, Nintendo in general. Japanese games are my most preferred to play or look for.
I think it mostly all depends what you’re looking for. Yearly Assassin’s Creed, or Call of Duty just feel excessive. People are at least getting tired of AC, feeling it’s all the same. Then you have yearly releases in things like Mario, which covers multiple genres, then you have a new Neptunia every year that tries its hand at new genres each times now. While I’ll admit I’m getting tired of that and just want a new mainline game, there’s definitely creativity in how they tackle genres. I feel there’s definitely creativity out there if you know where to look. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is definitely one of the most creative games I’ve seen lately.
Quality is also a huge factor. As I said, people are clearly burnt out on Assassin’s Creed. There are a lot of Pokémon Fans who say there is a huge decline in quality and were tired of the yearly releases.
There is plenty of creativity, you just need to know where to look. But then again, I’m really not much of a gamer, and really picky about what I’d be interested in. I’d prefer smaller studio games outside like Nintendo or Tomb Raider/Unchatered, and things like Dragon Ball, so I’m mostly going off what I’ve seen lately.
Why do I get the feeling it’ll flop after one game and they’ll abandon their dream of a trilogy…? Although seeing it’s the same company as Hitman, they might very well succeed!
@Northern_munkey I honestly think this will either be the best selling game in the series, or the worst. Just so much drama and headlines with it nearly every week, it’s definitely got its name out there. Even for an Assassin’s Creed game.
@DennisReynolds Yeah. I highly doubt it’ll be canceled myself. Stranger things have happened. It just feels like this game cannot catch a break, but like you said it’s most just race related rants against this game.
@Nepp67 If it keeps up, I wonder if they’ll just outright cancel it? I know they have done a lot of work on it already. But with the delay, all the controversies and all, will it ever seen the light of day?
And yet, another game company facing layoffs. This is what, the third in just two days? Are we really headed towards another crash or will things just continue into a massive a downward spiral?
I never really thought about that. My brother bought the Ultimate Edition for Sparking Zero for the bonuses. But was the three days early part of the cost? I personally don’t have any systems newer than a Vita, so I just buy my games used. Still, I do agree that these weird pricing strategies when most games lately seem to need some big patch to properly become playable.
@CielloArc Bandai always gave me one of those “too big to fail vibes”, not saying that they can’t make flop games, but in a sense they’ll suddenly face big financial problems. At least in their games department.
@Blaze215 Oh! I’m not bad mouthing Dragon Ball by any means! I’m a huge fan of it with my brother. I meant things like Kaisen or things that just suddenly pop up out of nowhere and have an immediate massive fan base. I like things like Dragon Ball because they’ve been around longer and had to work to build up reputations. But that’s just me personally.
“Lackluster demand”? Isn’t Bandai Namco well within the top five most popular game companies? Although it seems like lately they make games off whatever fad anime is popular at that moment…
EDIT: I’m not talking of course about Dragon Ball or One Piece. Those are anything but fads and have an incredible and long histories.
@Dom_31 That’s exactly what I was thinking. It would probably be the most interesting choice I think. Someone new finds the Death Note, and you as L has to investigate the murders or something.
@TrickyDicky99 That’s exactly what my brother did in a few games on 360. He loved them when he was a kid, and it felt like there was more to the game for him.
@hel105 My brother is like that. Not really into chasing them in games, but has 100% in a few games that were extremely important to him growing up, so it felt like it extended the game for him.
@Andy22385 That’s…Actually a nice way of putting it. I know some games make it worthwhile gameplay-wise, e.g. The Wolf Among Us if you try different story lines.
I never understood the obsession people have with these Trophies or Achievements. Why not just enjoy the game? I mean, sure I will admit some are fun to try the challenge. But I never saw the hyper obsession to get every Trophy for every game people buy…
Another week, another Ubisoft article. I’d honestly be surprised if they make it through the year. Low stocks, considering a buyout, and now this? There’s no way they’ll make it.
@Porco That’s what I’m wondering too. Just a few years back they required Idea Factory games to be censored on PS, and now there’s stuff like this and that Stellar Blade update. Really curious when the change was…
If they actually did port Halo to PlayStation, I’d honest see it as a confirmation of MS not knowing what to do anymore and slowly cease the console market. I mean sure, they have other exclusives like Gears and Forza, but if they move they’re bread and butter, Halo, which has been in severe decline, to PlayStation, then what’s to stop porting other games and even continue console development? My brother had absolutely no interest even in an Xbox zone, but bought one just to try Forza Horizon 3, then got more games later. But it’s true, exclusives help sell consoles. If I want to play like Ratchet & Clank or Mario, I’ll buy the consoles those games are for. If Xbox has no exclusives anymore, why even make a console?
