Playing half life alyx with the quest 2 controllers is incredible, when you touch something or say you hit an object with your gun, you feel the feedback on the controller. Is just awesome. It lacks the adaptive trigger, that would be mind blowing.
@Playstation long... But... Same as when I was playing uncharted 4, any progress I made was covered by a sad feeling of knowing I was closer to the end.
I don't mind, but only if this should not hold back games designed to fully utilize the PS5 hard so it then can be easily ported to PC at some point. Other than that, maybe just wait 3 or 4 years before making its way onto PC... it's ok.
@nessisonett kind of funny for me, I live in a third world country but I managed to get a PS5 on pre-sale, I think Sony sent around 2000 units for the first pre-sale. Crazy stuff to be able to get one, not possible in my wildest dreams in the first 6 monts, let alone launch day.
No one talking about how it could play? I love the classics adventures like Indy Jones and the fate of Atlantis... Really it's not going to happen to have a game like that in this age... But I think maybe something like Uncharted 4 with some puzzles (like the old ones)...
I thought it was a problem if mine, being somewhat stupid or so... But I couldn't find the sales banner neither all the discounted games altogether. Since I wanted to buy ghost of tsushima I directly searched for it and there it was at 40usd.
Almost like Smart Delivery... 🤣 Nice update. What I cannot find are game demos from the store🤷
We now need some funky name for the storage solution because "I/O complex" it's not OK!! Spiderman loads a save game in 2 seconds but without a PR name we are doomed.
Wonderful. I'm glad because it's not OK to let this kind of actions slip away. From Sony's side, maybe it's like the game really shouldn't have passed the certification process, so it's kind of a rollback and that's why the game is removed.
@eltomo No way, they had just over 7 years working on the game, no way they could even figure out how it would run on consoles available... 7 years ago...
Nothing to say that others haven't said before... but let me just say it for the sake of letting it out... WFT?!?!?!? It's... how they could even dare to say something like that... this, and I mean all, the game, the PR , etc, all is not just a misstep... it's fuc*ing unbelievable. Surreal.
@Party_Cannon that's right, it's sad but if everyone said "oh poor CDPR guys, their game is too much for the old consoles..." Then for sure they will be refunding nothing. They don't care.
@theMEGAniggle seems it is. Not the first game to perform poorly but with many years in dev, with so many people asking how it would run on PS4... If you kept the public from knowing before launch, then is a scam right away.
That's a load of BS... They knew since like ages ago about this, no amount of apologies are enough. And, of course, on a technical level this game cannot run "well" con ps4/xbone, at least as it is intended... Maybe at 320*200 with scanlines and 1 concurrent NPC on screen.
Refunds is the obvious thing to do. Also saying out loud "we lied, we kept this from you and we suck"...
@deathaxe yes, sadly it's somewhat expected to have buggy games at launch moreover with the scale of cyberpunk... Anyway no doubt targeting for ps4 and xbox one also meant less time for polishing the game for launch. I'm not even a bit hurried to play it so I will wait a couple of months until it gets properly playable...
@get2sammyb but how they can lose on selling the game to some of the 110+ million Ps4 users, right? Even if the game is crap, even if it hurts the quality of the game for the real player base which are the PC/XBX Series/Ps5 users...
Mmm i share my account with a friend and he shares his account with me. We buy games together, some games go to his and others to mine (account). We have done that for all the ps4 lifespan and we pretend to do the same with ps5 (which should arrive next week for both)... We don't shared the accounts with nobody else... I hope we're still fine.
@thefourfoldroot yes. I checked now and still not available. Yes, downloading games is way better, and yes, seems like awesome value. What I don't understand is why it can be available worldwide, if there's a "Internet speed thing" the just make the download option available for some countries...
@thefourfoldroot Well, last time I've checked PS Now was not availabe in my country, and... how does the downloadable stuff works ? I thought it was for streaming only...
@LexVVTi PS Now is not available we I live. Most I've put are old games, but there are many others, some new/not so old (say Doom eternal or Jedi, Flight Simulator 2020 on PC, then for instance The Medium on day one, etc). Anyway I'm not saying it's "cheap", but it's an option to play as many titles as you can for some money. I don't really like MS games, in fact I loved my 360 but skipped all Xbox consoles and had a PS4 and Pro and now a PS5, but just wanted to test this out, I think you can cancel the sub anytime so no harm there. Thing is games at 70USD is simply too much here, for a single game I play once and done, like God of War or Horizon, or Last of Us2... loved all of them, but I'm not the kind of player that hunts for trophies and stuff, so I do hope Sony can throw out some alternative to the gaming cost, even if you have to wait some time. Maybe leave out first party games from the sub, or offer a discount, I don't know. But I would love to play all games on PS5, even PS4 games I don't have such... say Sekiro; it's old? yes. It's good? it seems to be! but it's 59usd (now discounted to 39 I think)... anyway, you get the point. I'm not saying "give us all games, day one, paying 1 dolar" , no. Just another kind of option may be good, maybe isnt. Playstation Collection for PS5 is great, sadly I've played them all (mostly).
@thefourfoldroot it's around 10usd for Ultimate (allows PC and Xbox, which also is great for me because I do use my PC for games). You have "more than 100 games". Currently on mi Series S (with an external 480GB SSD I bought in preparation for the PS5 arrival in a couple of days) I've installed:
A plague tale
Alan wake (already played it on 360 back in it's day)
Burnout paradise
Doom Eternal
PES 2020
Forza Horizon 4
Gears 5 (always hated gears but just to try it)
Monster hunter
Nier
both Ori titles
Outer wilds
Quantum Break
Ryse son of Rome
Jedi fallen order
Tetris effect
Man of Medan
Unravel
I would love to see something along the lines of GamePass on Playstation. In fact I've a Series S alone for the GamePass stuff, there are great games (even xbox360 games). Maybe Sony could wait say a year after a game release to make it available, I don't know. There's value for us gamers even if games aren't available on day one. Look at PS collection for PS5… it's amazing and all those games are "old".
I don't know how it goes but imagine for a second you land a job there, but you cannot go physically because of the pandemic... God (of war)... Just let me walk the offices saying hi to everyone the first day. Dreamed.
@God_of_Nowt well, watching the NXgamer review over BC it says the PS5 has 3 modes of "operation" (which Cerny briefly addressed in the Road to PS5, right?) ... Based on that, PS4 mode locks the cpu to 8c/t at 1.6ghz and Pro mode to 8c/t 2.1ghz ... That MAY explain the load speed diff with xbox, if xbox is using the full cpu speed, then it's all said.
@get2sammyb would be nice to know. I've bought a external 480GB SSD to load my BC catalog on PS5. I'll keep those precious 667GB for next gen games 😬
@MightyDemon82 i'm watching right now the NXgamer review on BC... 4min into the video and there you have: Until Dawn avg fps on PS4 is around 25 vs almost 60 on PS5. I'm glad I've still not played that game 😂
@God_of_Nowt as a side note, I bought the Series S as a secondary console, maybe for my little daughter, but now I'm regretting not buying the X, I'm really bothered because it seems that's not "the same as X but 1440p". It was a mayor price diff here and buying the PS5 was the priority.
@AdamNovice yes, there could be many things. I'm aware of MS back compat team but I'm not too deep on what kind of improvements they make (how much they can modify the game/code/assets/etc,)...
@MightyDemon82 BC with PS4 games made the purchase of Ps5 on day one a no brainer. No need to wait for new games, you can enjoy better your ps4 games etc.
@God_of_Nowt thanks for the answer. I'm a software developer and tech nerd (somewhat) , I'm not in panic mode but it's really strange. I do think there must be something along the lines of what you said, but it came as something really strange that Sony's implementation is "slower" when doing just unoptimized reads (I mean legacy data structures)... But is entirely possible. Of course I'm not worried for ps5 titles because spiderman loads a save game in 2 seconds... Just incredible... And it's just the start of the generation.
@get2sammyb nice to have feedback on BC. Great things heard from DF also. I've sold my Pro like 20 days ago so I'm waiting for Dec 4th (expected delivery date for PS5 here) to play the huge catalog I've left untouched from PS4. Imagine I haven't played Witcher 3 (1&2 on PC a decade ago, loved those)...
Anyway, there's something that's really bothering my mind. What's happening with the loading times of BC titles from internal storage? Why xbox is so much faster in many titles (I've to pick up a Series S on Nov 18th so I m not asking as a sony fanboy or whatever) ? If the loading speed difference was a few percent, you could say it's because the 10% faster cpu speed on xbox, but there's a huge difference in some titles. What's going on here? Could it be Sony's ssd solution being really worse than MS's?
I've recently got an Oculus Quest 2 and sold my PSVR. Was planning to keep for using with the PS5 hoping for better graphics but the tracking and resolution is not so good... Coming back with PSVR2. Anyway is a good VR solution.
If they give away the game for $10 or $20 and the get the rest of the income from ads, ok. Maybe there should be a new business model for this... Like "pay way less and get the ads" or "pay full price and never ever see an ad".
@Bentleyma- There's a fixed position bubble on the upper left side on the screen (like a score bubble or sort) that reflects what's "behind/around" as the camera goes around. That caught my eye as something special.
I'm really hoping for some details on a boost feature such as the Pro has. Playing PS4 games with faster loading is a given, but if games are not patched, what can we expect regarding performance? I think at best we can have PS4 Pro profile with less downscale on resolution (when it's dynamic) or better fps when unlocked... But no jump from 30 to 60 fps as it were magic.
@MarcG420 well... It's has the same ballpark TF figures from the Pro, plus many improvements from the architecture itself, but yes, games will be also way more demanding so maybe it's 1080p upscaled or something. I really don't care... My main console is Ps5. Anyway if my pockets were just a little deeper I would have bought and X. But really getting and X and PS5 and Quest2 on launch is like too much (more here where I live) 😬
@stu123 yes, right. I also want to play some older games, and mainly the exclusives. But not very interested in buying games, I don't play online or service games so often it's a one time playthrough... So paying full price for a game I will play only once is not very appealing for me. I was doubting about getting the xbox because I also have a PC, for some moments I almost click on the series X pre-order but the thing is I preferred to get also an Oculus Quest 2 with "the saving" of getting the S. But I'm thinking maybe games are not really "the same but 1440p" for S, if they get very downgraded like no ray tracing or stuff like that then I might trade in for an X or sell it altogether down the road.
Great. Of course prices will get better with time. I've just preordered a little Xbox Series S just to sit along with the PS5, and just maybe enjoy some GamePass goodness.
I just cannot believe how and where the NFS franchise went after the first title, which really was a properly made (for the era) TestDrive. That Need for Speed remains one, if not the most, loved arcade driving game for me. I'm still expecting a NFS1 remake.
It will sell, of course. Here in Argentina the pre sale was of 2000 units and lasted for 30 min until it was out of stock. Luckily I was able to get a digital one in the first 5 minutes. After reading stories of pre sales around the globe I wasn't very confident... Anyway, the system will sell but the thing is game prices are on the rise, even the digital ones... Then you have the PS Plus, etc, how back compat will work (really bad the saved games issue) etc ... Good games will come but I don't know, I hope Sony isn't screwing this over. Really something like GamePass at least for PS4 games will be great.

After reading stories of pre sales around the globe I wasn't very confident... Anyway, the system will sell but the thing is game prices are on the rise, even the digital ones... Then you have the PS Plus, etc, how back compat will work (really bad the saved games issue) etc
... Good games will come but I don't know, I hope Sony isn't screwing this over. Really something like GamePass at least for PS4 games will be great.
