@ShogunRok @Shepherd_Tallon price is everything though. Netflix made streaming mainstream because it was cheap for unlimited watching. how much do you think your data is worth though?
Assume you log into the service with your google account, and they correlate all your web data with your gaming habits - which games you play, when you play, how good you are at playing, what makes you buy micro transactions, what makes you continue playing and what makes you ragequit. Suddenly looking at a store page for a game will make that game appear on every page you visit on all your devices.
So all that yummy data, how much value can they derive from it to subsidize the games? Can they offer unlimited AAA games for slightly more than PS+? If they do that, they’ll win hands down.
@Neolit I find that they get so caught up in creating an open world that they forget to make it fun. You end up spending more than half your time travelling, on admin like inventory and skills, and not reading or listening to quest dialog. Eventually the novelty of the virtual world coming to life wears off and I realize playing feels like a job. Especially when even on “hard” mode the game is so toned down as to basically guarantee success. That’s why I couldn’t finish the Witcher, why I’m often happier to finish/delete an open world game than to start it.
Really I think if a game isn’t at least 75% gameplay then you’re doing something wrong. I mean, that’s not a high bar is it?
Bloodborne had a “first 15 minutes” video released well before launch. As with death stranding I’m skeptic always of secrecy.
@kyleforrester87 from software isn’t known for coherent stories, though . Like, you can finish every game of theirs and barely be aware that there was a pretender if a plot, until you go watch vaatividya’s videos explaining it.
@ShogunRok important correction: I went to the Ubisoft site and it says that current points are grandfathered, only points you get after April 1, 2019 will expire, 24 months after you get them (so 2021 earliest)
@Gmork___ This video shows a lot of visual artefacts/issues with lighting and the like - dots on the edge of bars and stuff. The stills are more impressive tbh....
.... still i’m Being picky given that this is created on a PS4
The real question here is what effect it will have on microtransactions and other “recurrent user spending” - and if those effects will help or hinder the game.
@get2sammyb as good as Bloodborne was, it ended. As evidenced by Sekiro I think we’re more likely to see the formula applied to another setting than a soul-less sequel, pardon the pun.
@ellsworth004 @ShogunRok Gwent rocks! Unfortunately the rest of the game is rather dull, for all the talk. 50% talking, 30% map traversal, 5% admin, 5% loading screen (srsly wtf), 5% Gwent, 3% trying to hit on Betty & Veronica - sorry Triss & Yennifer, 2% actually fighting monsters.
@ShogunRok I wouldn’t say no one heard of it, nor that there was a complete lack of interest (though I agree timing hurt), but the coverage of the negatives eclipsed the positives, so as a consumer I just move on.
Even wanting to want the game, after looking at several reviews my impressions are that Shelob is a woman because apparently she can in the lore, and there are microtransactions. The rest of the coverage gave off a “yea more of the same, improved” vibe.
@ShogunRok you say “launches to critical praise”, but when I looked it up while it was on sale almost all the talk was microtransactions. I’m pretty sure that microtransactions and the general backlash against them this year hurt this game more than anything.
@JoeBlogs please don’t dismiss it as cynicism - it is literally in their contract most of the time that they must speak positively about it and must do press. This is also their job, and their careers being influenced heavily by how well they do this part of their job.
@kyleforrester87 That’s the make or break for me - the game looks awesome but if the gameplay is as repetitive as following icons on the minimap to the point where I want to watch a movie on a second screen, then It is hard to endorse. That said, a lot of open world games recently have done a little bit better about this, and the wandering is actually often the better part.
60fps is interesting, since important game mechanics are related to frames, dodging specifically. I seem to recall that previously 60fps caused a stealth nerf? Will have to reread later.

@Boxmonkey if you can wait for sales, more power to you! Or at least more money!

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Gameplay Overview Trailer Shows You the Way of the Wolf
My backlog is too big to justify buying it yet. I’ll burn through my backlog till it’s on sale.
Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice PS4 Trophies Will Test Your Mettle
@Skywalker1080p I did the same.... then finished the game 3 times more 100% each time.

Also, dark souls has ruined all other games for me

RDR2 is on sale, but I’m just done the main plot in AC:O and I don’t know if I can stomach another open world.

Yea. Searched and also went into all tv and sorted a-z... its not there
Re: The 2008 Devil May Cry Anime Is Free on PS4 US Store
I live in Canada, normally same as us store, but can’t find the anime at all, any price, on console or ps video app. Anyone know the exact name?

I’d love to be able to access my wish list from the on-console store, too......
Re: Death Stranding Development 'Slightly' Behind Schedule, Says Hideo Kojima
Overhyped.
They’d release gameplay if it was good. Games where everyone is wondering what you actually do but they’re hyped anyhow turn out like NMS.

I literally can’t find anything worth spending them on.

Re: Guide: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice FAQ - Everything You Need to Know
Regarding DLC - unless you can preorder a “complete” version with season pass included I doubt there would be dlc. DS3 had such a bundle for example.
No player comments on the ground is a huge miss imo.

So far the game seems to be shaping up well, though this article is a nothingburger TBH.
The lack of shared messages on the ground is really disappointing though.

Re: FromSoftware Explains Decision to Exclude Online Multiplayer in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
They can take out the other parts, but not having the messages on the ground is a huge blow. I really like those and the story behind them

It’s is reallly well executed but not innovative at all.
Re: Guide: How to Kill Rom, the Vacuous Spider in Bloodborne on PS4
He’s almost trivial with hit and run on the lake. Version in the chalice in confined space is truly difficult.
Re: Guide: Which Starting Weapon Should You Pick in Bloodborne?
Saw Cleaver is the correct answer. You’ll get all three, but the saw cleaver does 20% extra damage on the first boss.

Two games I’ve platinum’ed - and bloodborne I’ve 100%’ed 3 times... still, great month!

HL3 engine testing, clearly.
Re: Sony Surveying Users on Potential PSN Name Changes
As long as griefers don’t get to be jerks then change their names to regain anonymity.... the cool down and/or fee would deal with that.
I also admit the size of the player base makes this less of an issue because you aren’t too likely to see someone twice. Still.
