Re: PlayStation Could Have Fresh Competition in Stadia, Google's New Game Streaming Platform

Mega-Gazz

@ShogunRok @Shepherd_Tallon price is everything though. Netflix made streaming mainstream because it was cheap for unlimited watching. how much do you think your data is worth though?

Assume you log into the service with your google account, and they correlate all your web data with your gaming habits - which games you play, when you play, how good you are at playing, what makes you buy micro transactions, what makes you continue playing and what makes you ragequit. Suddenly looking at a store page for a game will make that game appear on every page you visit on all your devices.

So all that yummy data, how much value can they derive from it to subsidize the games? Can they offer unlimited AAA games for slightly more than PS+? If they do that, they’ll win hands down.

@Neolit I find that they get so caught up in creating an open world that they forget to make it fun. You end up spending more than half your time travelling, on admin like inventory and skills, and not reading or listening to quest dialog. Eventually the novelty of the virtual world coming to life wears off and I realize playing feels like a job. Especially when even on “hard” mode the game is so toned down as to basically guarantee success. That’s why I couldn’t finish the Witcher, why I’m often happier to finish/delete an open world game than to start it.

Really I think if a game isn’t at least 75% gameplay then you’re doing something wrong. I mean, that’s not a high bar is it?

Bloodborne had a “first 15 minutes” video released well before launch. As with death stranding I’m skeptic always of secrecy.

@kyleforrester87 from software isn’t known for coherent stories, though . Like, you can finish every game of theirs and barely be aware that there was a pretender if a plot, until you go watch vaatividya’s videos explaining it.

@ellsworth004 @ShogunRok Gwent rocks! Unfortunately the rest of the game is rather dull, for all the talk. 50% talking, 30% map traversal, 5% admin, 5% loading screen (srsly wtf), 5% Gwent, 3% trying to hit on Betty & Veronica - sorry Triss & Yennifer, 2% actually fighting monsters.

Re: Sony Surveying Users on Potential PSN Name Changes

As long as griefers don’t get to be jerks then change their names to regain anonymity.... the cool down and/or fee would deal with that.

I also admit the size of the player base makes this less of an issue because you aren’t too likely to see someone twice. Still.

@ShogunRok I wouldn’t say no one heard of it, nor that there was a complete lack of interest (though I agree timing hurt), but the coverage of the negatives eclipsed the positives, so as a consumer I just move on.
Even wanting to want the game, after looking at several reviews my impressions are that Shelob is a woman because apparently she can in the lore, and there are microtransactions. The rest of the coverage gave off a “yea more of the same, improved” vibe.

@JoeBlogs please don’t dismiss it as cynicism - it is literally in their contract most of the time that they must speak positively about it and must do press. This is also their job, and their careers being influenced heavily by how well they do this part of their job.

Re: PS4 Exclusive Days Gone to Have Huge Story Focus

@kyleforrester87 That’s the make or break for me - the game looks awesome but if the gameplay is as repetitive as following icons on the minimap to the point where I want to watch a movie on a second screen, then It is hard to endorse. That said, a lot of open world games recently have done a little bit better about this, and the wandering is actually often the better part.
