@God_of_Nowt you have nothing to apologize for

From what you’re saying, rest mode is only still a problem when using an external drive? I recall previously there were issues with suspended games in rest mode too and especially spider-man. I’ve been powering off my ps5 rather than rest mode to be safe.

@Clayton_Bigsby Woah.

FWIW I was comparing persona to Final Fantasy, nothing to do with GoT.

That said, Ghost of Tsushima is a relatively uninspired open world game. Beautiful to the point that screenshots feel like cheating. The combat is tweaked, but it may as well be AC: Japan.

Apples to oranges comparison, but Persona 5 is a much more original series with deeper characters and a plot that tackles more complex issues. It also oozes style. It also has better trivia tests.

Re: Soapbox: The Conversation About Games Moves Too Quickly

As someone who watches movies when they arrive on Netflix, and buys games usually at 50% off, I’m used to everything being out of public consciousness by the time I consume it. While that does mean I can’t discuss with other who are currently experiencing it, it does slot to help bring hype down to reality.

@nessisonett @playstation1995 even more so, just about any game will see “pop in” where you can see objects literally appear/disappear as you take one step forward/back, because it is saving CPU/GPU time on distant objects.

Even on new consoles, you see the same thing. For example you may get ray traced reflections for near objects, but screen-space reflections for distant objects.

@get2sammyb some of us are nerds and are interested academically.

I mean, honestly, if I remember right MS is banking on more parallelism in processing, and cerny said they chose to go the other route because in practice it is hard to be efficient using more threads.

So I’m less arguing for one or the other but more curious if David or Goliath will win.
