@jcboyer515 I don’t know why you’ve made this complicated. I won’t buy hades if Sony applies there ps5 new game pricing to it. If they price it according to its actual age, sure, but in the past they’ve priced ‘new to playstation’ at full price, e.g. Civ and its DLC 4 years after release on PC.

Yes, it is an indie title but also a GOTY so who knows what they’ll do.

And that lawsuit is exactly like this situation - if third parties could sell codes to hades on playstation there would be more/any competition and the price would be driven down.

But seriously that is new game pricing now. And if you look at other games, steam was selling civ 6 for peanuts with DLC while the ps store was selling it full price without dlc. They’re actually being sued for that practice specifically.

@everynowandben yes. Even old text roguelikes (eg nethack) had this. I should boot up rogue to see if it had it.

And you can implement online if you’re really really worried about save-scumming.

I was going to buy this game but the save thing is a deal breaker. With kids and dog, it isn’t feasible to set aside the TV for 3-4 hours and not have to put it down. I get that they want to prevent save-scumming but the game just doesn’t fit into my life until the save feature is implemented.

Also stop releasing DLC as a whole new game please.... even if the DLC is pepper and salt mixed in with the rest of the game.

Honestly that seems rather reasonable for 3 games. There are single games bigger than that.

Of course, they control retail prices too... looking at you PS5 Games MSRP grumble

Really no interest in any of them.

Just saying that even NetHack (nethack.org) had a save feature.... and you could save-scum if you knew how. I don’t recall if Rogue itself had it, but nethack wasn’t much later.

Still not sure I can justify forking out $90 CAD for this, despite knowing it’ll be a good game. Frankly same for returnal.

P5R at 50% but still too expensive... I can’t bring myself to pay $40 CAD for what should be DLC instead of billed as a full game.

@velio84 Absolutely worth getting, don’t hesitate. Also, I’m sure you’ve heard this, but to finish it you need to “finish” it multiple times. I won’t spoil beyond that, but know that when you first see the credits you haven’t seen the whole story.

Sounds rather insincere

Sorry, buying games at full price is like going to the movie theatre on opening day paying full price. It is just not a sustainable habit no matter how much you want to support the corporation who is selling it. If I can wait 6 months, I can play games at the same rate but half the price, it is just obvious.... And I do the same with 90% of movies waiting for blu-ray or streaming.

Of course with both media I occasionally fall for the hype train and pay full price, but it is rare and I can’t afford to do it often despite a good salary.

To expect the average wage-earner to pay full price ever is just insane.

Soulsborne games are worth replaying. Can’t think of anything else tho.

Totally worth the hype and hope. It’s hard to replay the game now due to the janky frame-rate.

@Royalblues well, when you start NG+ you play as 9S. Then next time as yet again someone else. You keep seeing the story from different viewpoints and it reveals more and changes everything. It is actually really smart.

Review Scores:
I would love to be able to specify what is important to me in a game and have the review scores reflect that.

So someone who needs action and online play, doesn’t care about plot and wants good graphics would see a high score for COD, but someone who has said they want single player games with depth may read the same review and see a lower score.

I think this is achievable via “preferences” stored in cookies or along side user profile information, and have the actual game score on server side broken down into components.

This would solve the age old problem where game x and y are both 8/10 but clearly not equal... or the problem where somehow Journey got a higher score than Nioh....

@Royalblues If it is any consolation finishing Nier automata once won’t tell you what is going on or give you the “real” ending. You have to finish it like 5 times to finish the story.

FWIW it did that thing where it downloaded both ps4 and ps5 versions, and I had to carefully figure out which is which and cancel the ps4 version.

@velio84 None of the other responses mentioned it from what I see, so I’ll say this -

Nioh is the love child of Diablo and Dark Souls.

I’m not making that up, the devs literally referenced diablo before the first game. So while you have bonfires (shrines) and other dark-souls like mechanics, you also have the loot of a game like diablo, and finding the right gear with the right bonuses is definitely part of the game, where in a souls-like the gear is often just fashion-souls.

I’ve seen the details section come and go, seems random if it shows up.

Mmmm hard choice between RT and a decent framerate. Going back to 30fps for TLoU2 was really jarring, any time you pan the camera it was super noticeable.

Ugh like others I just bought control from PS store in December sale, left it untouched for the ps5 edition. At least it was only like 20 bucks wasted.

@Jimmer-jammer good question. I’ve been waiting on the DLC too, but if I have to replay I won’t mind. I played hammers/heavy armor and basically destroyed the game the first time, would be nice to try a build that is less OP.
