Re: You Can Save Scum Using Returnal's New Suspend Cycle Feature on PS5

As an avid save-scummer for over 30+ years, I have to say that if I’ve chosen to go that route in an offline game its my choice and there is really no reason for someone to try and police it.

For example I beat Hades fair and square without save scumming. The second time I got to Hades I wanted to learn the fight and wasn’t gonna do that getting there once every couple days - so I save scummed and don’t regret it, and won’t apologize. I don’t know why this is controversial.

@frankmcma I played like 800 hours, but two things made me stop without finishing two DLCs:

1: I found a Moze build where I literally just watch IB clear whole rooms on m10 while invulnerable literally dancing inIB’s huge shield, and the CD on IB is up long before he disappears. It makes the game boring but anything else is just hurting myself
2: mayhem 10. I could handle it but it sucked the fun out of the game, and anything less was trivial due to m10 gear, unless I gimped myself.

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn Gets 60FPS Patch on PS5, Available Now

@lolwhatno Bloodborne quite famously has frame pacing issues causing stutter, and runs sub-30fps at times. I’ve finished it 100% several times over, but last time I restarted I just couldn’t deal with the framerate anymore. Now that ps5 has made 60 FPS standard, it’ll be all the more unbearable.

@__jamiie it’s because in the past I/O time has been the silent cause of many problems. People will say they have lag when it’s really the HDD, or that their computer froze when really it’s waiting on IO. It was such a huge problem that the way games were design and shaped were all based around dealing with slow I/O.

Most games are cross-gen still so we’ve seen loading time differences, but not yet the real innovation which will be made possible through really fast I/O

@sanderson72 Actually interesting, there is a good chance that the number includes a date/time stamp, lots of generated build numbers do The 21 for example may refer to this year. I wonder if we can glean from this how long Sony’s internal test cycle is
