Re: Rumour: One of Assassin's Creed Red's Protagonists Is Based on African Samurai Yasuke

Pat_trick

Your title is immensely misleading. Yasuke was a retainer, never a Samurai. His story is very interesting and it's a good example of curiosity and interest in a different culture breaking the racial barriers, but calling him a Samurai is revisionist history. You don't need to lie to show the importance of an African person being accepted and integrated in Japan so long ago.
Please correct your title.

Re: Latest Alan Wake 2 PS5 Patch Applies 200+ Fixes

I got a progression breaking bug in Oceanview hotel that the patch says it's addressed and fixed but it isn't. For anyone on the fence, don't buy it. I had an amazing time until this bug made it impossible to finish the game and completely soured my experience.

Re: EA Sports FC 24 (PS5) - Rebranded and Refined But Not Revolutionary

So, after that 2000 word article explaining why this game was vastly superior to the other ones and it took a new step forward for the series, it gets a 7? I guess it doesn't matter how much technology you put into a game, if you're pumping these yearly it's never going to be amazing.
Development costs time and effort. No matter how talented the developers are, it's impossible to make a masterpiece in a year. They're always going to range from acceptable to mediocre.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Sales Top a Staggering 25 Million as Phantom Liberty Hits 3 Million in a Week

Pat_trick

It's definitely not staggering. If you consider how The Witcher 3 sold and how the pre-orders for Cyberpunk went, the game would easily be over 30 million copies sold by now.
The atrocious launch and the reputation attached to it held the sales back and this game will probably never reach The Witcher 3 in total sales.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a success, but a smaller one than most predicted.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 (PS5) - One of the Greatest RPGs of Our Time

@InJeffable I like the fact the it makes it more unpredictable and a bit interesting when it comes to possibilities. Also this game is one of the best when it comes to make "failures" having interesting results and not being just the bad outcome.
But your point is completely valid. It does inject randomness and it's totally fair to consider it a deal-breaker due to the agency being taken away from the player.

@Suur I think you just found the solution for your problem. I love both BG3 and Elden Ring but I acknowledge that both are for a specific audience. If I may be so bold as to advise you, watch gameplay trailers before deciding to buy the game. Reviewers are frequently people who play all kinds of games so they will give glowing reviews to niche games if they excel in their areas, which is the case for both games. But if you're not a fan o slow burner turn based RPGs or DnD in general, BG3 is a hard sell.

Re: Reaction: Has Sony Put Together the Worst PS Plus Month Ever?

Pat_trick

I used to have PS Plus and PS Now. When they merged the services I dropped from Premium to Extra because Premium never justified its price. With this new price I can't see a good reason to still have Extra so I'll drop from it to Essential.

I also stopped buying first party titles at launch because of the absurd £70 cost.

Because of corporate greediness Sony has effectively been getting less and less money from me.

Re: Red Dead Redemption PS4 Port Becomes Top Ranking Title on PS Store

@Kang81 That's my philosophy too. The idea of consumers being conscious about their purchases seems less likely every day. I think the only thing we can do is to not partake in it and advise people when they ask for it.
I have it on Xbox 360 too and I'd rather dust it off and play it than play this absurd price. At least we're doing our part.
