Your title is immensely misleading. Yasuke was a retainer, never a Samurai. His story is very interesting and it's a good example of curiosity and interest in a different culture breaking the racial barriers, but calling him a Samurai is revisionist history. You don't need to lie to show the importance of an African person being accepted and integrated in Japan so long ago.
Please correct your title.
Can't wait until it's released in 2030 completely broken and full of microtransactions.
Let's be honest, the BioWare we knew and loved is long dead with almost all of the key developers having left the company.
I love the original trilogy but I think it's acceptable to have no expectations when it comes to a new game.
I got a progression breaking bug in Oceanview hotel that the patch says it's addressed and fixed but it isn't. For anyone on the fence, don't buy it. I had an amazing time until this bug made it impossible to finish the game and completely soured my experience.
@catsmoke What? I said they're making fun of extreme opinions. Democracy is also freedom of speech. Everyone can be made fun of, no matter their opinions. Either you didn't understand my comment or you're one of the extreme people they're making fun of. If that's the case, my advice is for you to take things less seriously, they're jokes.
@DennisReynolds I hope so too. I'm impressed on how good Alan Wake 2 is and the freedom they were given to make the game as they wanted it to be. Shame that it didn't have a physical release, that definitely hurt the sales figures.
Let's hope someone funds his idea. Sam is a very creative man and even though not every game released by Remedy was amazing, they're always attempting to do new things with both storytelling and gameplay.
I love that south park makes fun of the "woke" crowd and "anti-woke" crowd in the same episode. It shows how stupid both extremes of the argument can be.
Regardless of what people think of FFXIV and FFXVI Yoshi P is clearly dedicated to his work and genuinely loves Final Fantasy. Sakaguchi acknowledging that was probably a dream come true.
So, after that 2000 word article explaining why this game was vastly superior to the other ones and it took a new step forward for the series, it gets a 7? I guess it doesn't matter how much technology you put into a game, if you're pumping these yearly it's never going to be amazing. Development costs time and effort. No matter how talented the developers are, it's impossible to make a masterpiece in a year. They're always going to range from acceptable to mediocre.
Fortunately here in the UK physical media is still quite prevalent. But I do worry about the future, ever since I was a kid I wanted to have a collection and now that I have the ability to they might go extinct soon.
@Loamy I haven't played in a while but from I recall a lot of criticism was towards nerfing classes and making it extremely difficult to get legendary items. Also for a period of time you could accidentally buy the battle pass with one click, which was pretty shady.
Btw, love your username and and the image. It got a chuckle out of me.
It's definitely not staggering. If you consider how The Witcher 3 sold and how the pre-orders for Cyberpunk went, the game would easily be over 30 million copies sold by now. The atrocious launch and the reputation attached to it held the sales back and this game will probably never reach The Witcher 3 in total sales.
Cyberpunk 2077 is a success, but a smaller one than most predicted.
@InJeffable I like the fact the it makes it more unpredictable and a bit interesting when it comes to possibilities. Also this game is one of the best when it comes to make "failures" having interesting results and not being just the bad outcome.
But your point is completely valid. It does inject randomness and it's totally fair to consider it a deal-breaker due to the agency being taken away from the player.
@Suur I think you just found the solution for your problem. I love both BG3 and Elden Ring but I acknowledge that both are for a specific audience. If I may be so bold as to advise you, watch gameplay trailers before deciding to buy the game. Reviewers are frequently people who play all kinds of games so they will give glowing reviews to niche games if they excel in their areas, which is the case for both games. But if you're not a fan o slow burner turn based RPGs or DnD in general, BG3 is a hard sell.
I used to have PS Plus and PS Now. When they merged the services I dropped from Premium to Extra because Premium never justified its price. With this new price I can't see a good reason to still have Extra so I'll drop from it to Essential.
I also stopped buying first party titles at launch because of the absurd £70 cost.
Because of corporate greediness Sony has effectively been getting less and less money from me.
I honestly think if BioWare doesn't succeed in their next game EA is going to shut their doors down like they did with many other developers. They buy a creative studio, force the creativity out of it to make their games more "mainstream", the game inevitably fails because it lacks personality and quality, EA blames the developer and shut their doors.
@Kang81 That's my philosophy too. The idea of consumers being conscious about their purchases seems less likely every day. I think the only thing we can do is to not partake in it and advise people when they ask for it. I have it on Xbox 360 too and I'd rather dust it off and play it than play this absurd price. At least we're doing our part.
Sony and Nintendo got the console market locked down. Both have very different strategies and that's why they survive in the same environment. Microsoft trying to compete directly with Sony is more likely than not going to be their downfall.
Even though we criticise it here, we're part of a very niche group. Most people that play games are not invested in knowing the state they're in and the quality of the port, they see the title, recognise it and buy it.
It sucks that's going to sell well because of brand recognition, but it's nice to see that people here at Push Square understand that it's a cash grab.
@MasterVGuides I understand that. But most publishers only react when you stop buying their product. I know the developers did their best to make an amazing game, but I can't support this predatory model established by Capcom.
Just keep it away from Tetsuya Nomura. If he directs it, Terra will have visions of Kefka every 5 minutes and we will be able to change history so the world won't be ruined.
Remember people desperate on copium when this game released? I think it's time for everyone to acknowledge that the good ol' Blizzard we knew and loved is dead.
