If Sony (and Naughty Dog) were releasing lots of other stuff for PS5, I'd assume the general feeling around remasters would be better. But apart from Insomniac's output, everything recently seems to be remasters and live-service crap, with little truly new content coming. Like, what is the point of a PS5 right now, other than as a PS4 Pro Pro? There's not a lot of brand new stuff to play.
It's a great time to take a break from buying new games, as I plan to do when PS4 and Switch releases finally dry up. Gonna take a few years off just to play through my backlog and forget about the current gaming industry. I'm looking forward to it.
"consumers will be able to access their previously purchased content for at least the next 30 months." I don't think companies or people remember what this word means.
"If you've been holding off on playing one of the finest modern JRPGs on the market, now might be the right time to see what all the fuss is about." I know it's meant to be an amazing game, but I simply refuse to buy anything by Atlus. Their business practices are blatantly anti-consumer. It's a shame, but I'm not giving them a penny.
@PixelDragon That's okay, thanks! I really like reading your comments on here. It's great to find someone else against all digital and wanting to keep physical going. I feel we're on the same side! I really wanted to get the Harry Potter game too, but was gutted to learn it requires internet, so when the servers go down, it's a coaster.
@PixelDragon Oh wow, okay. If you've decided that's the end of the debate then you must be right. I think a game that requires a download to play, isn't a proper physical release. It cannot be played without internet. But I guess I must be wrong, as the debate has ended.
The higher ups at Bungie are terrified they're going to lose their overpaid, cushy jobs if Sony comes in and gets rid of their parasitic asses. So, they're firing scores of employees and cutting multiple benefits just to cling on to their moneyed positions as long as possible. A tale as old as time for scum at the top.
So, if your account is banned, you lose all your digital games too?? That's absolutely ridiculous! With this and the loss of access to those TV shows, I have lost all faith in buying anything digital on Sony's buggy PSN.
Absolutely ridiculous. No wonder people pirate media if you can just lose access even to stuff you "bought". I was worried about this happening. It's the reason I've never bought a digital TV show or film. I have bought digital games though. I'm hoping this doesn't happen to any of them.
@KonstantTrouble Does it suck though??? How unimaginably lazy do you have to be to not want to get up to change a disc/cartridge?
@naruball Fair point. Most games are certainly longer these days. But there's also a much larger market these days, with more people playing games than ever before. Profits can be much, much higher. And whilst yes, you can simply ignore extras that games try to sell you, these very often used to be fun parts of the games you were playing. Cheat codes and unlockable outfits for example, although not necessary, were fun extras in many games. Now cheat codes are sold as "time savers" or some other rubbish, and costumes or items are pre-order bonuses and DLC.
"The price increase, for example, the $70 for certain frontline products, was the first increase in many years after many generations.
It isn't really. Games have been sliced up to sell as deluxe editions, pre-order bonuses, DLC, microtransactions, etc. for years now. Most full games aren't $70 these days, they try to scam you out of $100 or more if you actually want the full experience.
"That Royal released on PS5 at full price, with no upgrade path for PS4 players, remains an insult to fans and the game itself."
This, plus Royal releasing on PS4 with no way to upgrade for regular players on PS4, and it still had copious amounts of DLC, despite being the second version. Atlus are just scumbags. If I see a game is made/published by them, I automatically ignore it. I don't care what it is. They treat their fans like filth.
I'm curious to know in what state the PS4 version was left. No Man's Sky had a great turnaround, fixing things on the same consoles it originally released on. Was Cyberpunk fixed on last-gen machines too, or just current gen?
This looks exactly the same as the one COD game I bought 10 years ago, only now it's buggy. Why are people still buying these if it's literally the same game, but worse?
Oh Japan. In a country where bookshops have magazines with covers of fully bare-chested women mere feet away from the kids' section, you'd better censor the 18-rated games in case kids are looking.
From what I saw of the gameplay they showed off last year (this year?), it looked like a stripped back Assassin's Creed IV. I really can't see the point of it.
"Wahh wahhh, Mm should just make 'proper' games! Make Platformer #45,687!" No wonder there's no creativity left in games from big companies. People don't want new ideas anymore.
But Sony are also disgusting for their insanely expensive Spider-Man 2 marketing, and making more profit from PlayStation than they ever have before, but still laying off people. Honestly, I'm glad I haven't bought a PS5. I just can't support this company anymore. They've raised every price they could, made so much profit, but still nickel and dime their customers, and treat their developers like crap.
@Boxmonkey The shareholders aren't happy with the millions upon millions that they already make. Greedy scum at the top ruining it for everyone else. As usual.
I'm not really interested in supporting Sony anymore. They've turned into such a nickel-n-diming company, and in 4 years haven't really managed to give much reason to buy a PS5. Microsoft are no better either.
You actually save $30 dollars on the bundle in the US. Meanwhile in the UK, you only save £10, as the separate disk drive is an absurd £99.99. The pricing between regions makes no sense.
It's nice to see I'm still not missing much on PS5 as it enters its 4th year on the market. The only game from that list that I'm interested in is also on PS4.
I wonder if this has anything to do with the Activision acquisition, and the various leaked documents. They certainly didn't paint him in a good light.
"Problems began for PS5 players when the title's "early access" period started on the 18th. Players who'd paid extra for the privilege were told they were playing the wrong build."
Ah, the joys of mandatory online, eh? Imagine paying extra to be a beta tester.
@LifeGirl Fantastic example. Taught me never to buy a game from CD Projekt.
@theheadofabroom All I said originally was my PS1's controller's sticks still work. That's it. I'm not trying to argue whether it's the original controller or not. All I said was, verbatim, "My PS1 controllers still work to this day." It's not a debate. I stated a fact.
@stassinari I can't believe I'm being gaslit here. Here's the Wikipedia page for the official Sony PS1 analog controller, which came with the slim PS1s. I got a slim PS1 and 2 of these controllers as a kid.
My PS1 controllers still work to this day. Is there any particular reason for stick drift being such a problem these days. Is it a change in materials? Are manufacturers being stingy and using poor quality parts?
