I'd much rather have a new mainline title but should it actually be a unique take on pvp, not just War zone with gadgets, I'll try it out. Not expecting much, though.
I'm having fun with it despite the issues, playing offline has been perfectly fine. I could see how people whose first Diablo was 3 would hate this game, though. It's difficult in all the right and wrong ways.
@shonenjump86 it's usually due to picking the wrong engine or studio to make the games. I think they used Unity for this game, which no one would pick for SMB unless they wanted to do this cheap, quick and have it work on everything.
I agree that the combat is awful but a lot of games under the horror umbrella do have that problem. That friction and repetition appeal to some people. Myself, much like in Silent Hill games, I love this game due to the setting, atmosphere and psychological story but I can see that the combat is dreadful.
Nothing for me there. HLL looks compelling but a game like that requires a lot of grinding to get good at. If I'm going to play a game that much, it'll be some rpg in my backlog.
@naruball You can also get various flavors of frozen yogurt that are as good as ice cream. Anyway, my point is some the best characters people will want you still have to pay for.
HLL might be good, I know some Battlefield people who like it but why the non-XL Mortal Kombat X?.. Seems like half an offer, it's like getting a free frozen yogurt but you have to buy the toppings.
Far Cry, Battlefield and Guardians of the Galaxy looking interesting, imo. If they turn out great I'll be down for picking them up sometime over the next few months but I'm only sold on a couple Switch games right now (Metroid, SMT V).
They're only doing this because Japan legalised casino gambling, which along with the pandemic likely hurt their profits. That's fine though, if they're taking this serious and not trying to take advantage of our nostalgia. I hope they're serious, find the right studios and actually invest good money in these games but after eFootball, I don't know...
I need this in my life. I saw some reviews complaining about a lack of modes but no one plays gimmick modes in arcade racers for long. Game looks good!
So stock issues are more a "unprecedented demand that can't be met until new production facilities are built" issue rather than a shortage as most people understand it. Good problem to have!
I get that people hate FUT and agree that having something akin to a casino in a kid's reach is immoral, I don't think stripping the appeal of UT for grown adults who love the mode as it is, is fair. This game should be rated 18+, among other things like not releasing a new one every single year, but at least it plays a fair bit better this time.
Eh, I'll cut them a break on this. At least they have been mostly consistent since the PS3 era. Look at Rockstar or Nintendo with 90% of their franchises. We get a game and then it's see you in 20 years. I don't think this will take them too much longer.
@Olmaz I agree, the subscription has got be good. People won't renew if they aren't into multiplayer games if the free games suck. I just think PS+ usually slides in quality this time of the year.
@Olmaz Publishing partners who'd rather you buy the new games releasing instead of being happy with just PS+ offers. I mean PlayStation themselves would rather we buy GoT or Death Stranding director's cuts then be satisfied by PS+.
Diablo 2, I love that they finally brought this back. The better skill tree alone makes it my favorite Diablo. I also love that you have to manage stamina and inventory. The game's difficult from the start and I always thought D3 was boring until you finish it a couple times and that's only after the expansion came out.
I originally played it on PC but have since sold the gaming components in my rig due people being willing to pay me triple what I paid. I think that whole scene is insane now, so I got out. I missed this game a lot, best one last gen imo, so yea I bought it. Probably shouldn't have but eh.
I'm happy to see it's taking inspiration from Mass Effect because this game's developers can make a good rpg, sometimes even a great one. I'm not a big Mahvel guy but I do like Guardians comics and movies. Sort of wish this game had been marketed as an action rpg, I think most people are expecting a brawler of sorts.
Nice review! I appreciate that you all see that a game isn't bad just because it lacks an original concept. Few games are and while plenty of reviewers will highly recommend a game like Eastward, even though it rips from Zelda and the Mana series, they aren't treating this game as fair.
And I think for a 20+ hour platinum with these production values, the price is fair.
Imagine being the parent of the teenager this is marketed towards whose friends all have one, they swear! "Dad I hate you, you're poor!. cries in which of my 200 Fortnite skins to choose"
Thanks Tim Sweeney, lol. You're really looking out for us gamers.
It's not bad, I've had fun and I actually don't suck this time around. The map designs work for my play style. It's still CoD, though. BF2042 seems much more interesting, imo.
I'll wait for this. I don't always buy physical but a game like this that'll come with extras is just what I like. I'd just buy it digitally had it just been an empty case.
I can respect the list, it's just opinion and perhaps it's just because the games are new to me but I would omit a few of these for games like FIST and Ender Lilies in my own list.
I don't think a trilogy makes sense now for most games. Tbh, I've always felt franchises like Final Fantasy do sequels best. New story, new characters but the DNA of the series remains and now that action games are getting as long as some rpgs, it's just hard to keep up with that much story across several games.
@The_New_Butler For real. I couldn't even imagine spending most of my time talking about something that doesn't exist when I can play games that do. Commenting on this stuff here and there is fine but there's whole subbreddits dedicated to some of these rumors.
Serves them right. All of it could have been avoided had they made a few campaign expansions over the years. I know, they had to put everyone on Red Dead 2 but that's not a positive thing. That's a sign of problems.
Glad this is releasing, been waiting on a new, fresh game since Returnal. Man, can't wait to play!
I can respect some folks skipping this game if it doesn't appeal to them but you always see people complain about too many remakes, remasters and sequels. Don't think most of those people will buy it, though. They never buy games from Arkane (or Platinum, Housemarque, HAL Labs, Retro, etc).
@jdv95 Tales games feel more like fighting games than what the norm is for JRPG. They're great for people who cringe at the thought of Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest but still retain much of what makes a rpg a rpg.
I just don't care. I would have years ago but I'm beyond tired of complaining. I was always upset about this kind of thing then I began to see that fanning the flames just gets developers harassed or worse. I can play something else if my internet goes down before I pick my pitchfork up. I'd assume this is just for certain aspects of the mode anyway.
Just did. I'm very surprised, as I figured it being a reboot would have this turn out slightly above average but all the reviews and friend recommendations got me to bite.
It's like when you and another person are totally in love and one of your buds call it out and you guys are like, "no, no, n n n no, we never said that. There's nothing going on." But inside you're both like, "do they really feel nothing?".
I see this as being mostly for pc users or people who skipped PlayStation the last couple gens. I'm fine with the PS4 versions, I don't feel any desire to pay for these games a third time, even if it is $10, or even play them again for free.
