Re: Game of the Year: #3 - Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

RavenWolfe81

I'd put this #2 personally. I started a new playthrough recently and it's still just as fun and awe inspiring. Few games that aren't outright built for replayability can make me feel that way, like I can play a roguelike over and over but not action-platformers. I'd put this up there with Mario Odyssey.

Re: Game of the Year: #5 - Psychonauts 2

RavenWolfe81

Definitely my top game this year, it captures the spirit of old adventure games but keeps things modern with wild imagination and decent 3D action platforming. It's not going to compete with something like Mario Odyssey in pure gameplay but the whole package is phenomenal.

Re: Talking Point: Did The Game Awards 2021 Live Up to the Hype?

RavenWolfe81

@KorsaRaph I agree. I enjoyed the show apart from the ads but I don't expect this to be done for free. You can't please people on the internet, though. Most just want to see the game they imagine should be there or they're jaded and cynical. I'm 40 years old, thought the show was the best one yet, the earlier ones were pretty bad but it's getting better. People's comments never fail to depress me, though.

Re: GTA Trilogy Patch 1.02 Fixes Huge List of Bugs on PS5, PS4

RavenWolfe81

@Bleachedsmiles

Rockstar released it digitally a month early to be able to get a higher cut of peak sales, especially on PC where the game is only on their launcher. Should they have waited until December and launch with a major day one patch? Absolutely but then they'd have less people buying directly from them. This game will be fine by it's physical release date and it was all planned, imo.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy GTA Trilogy?

RavenWolfe81

No, I didn't. I used to love GTA but V has turned me off to the whole thing. I don't even feel excited about VI, assuming Rockstar is capable of actually completing a project.

People think they don't want or need to because of GTA Online but that's not how companies work. Success pushes production but Rockstar can't get anything going anymore, here's your proof. They couldn't even make this themselves or pay a top tier remaster studio to do it. They're the new Bioware in a lot of ways, except Bioware bounced back when the trilogy that put them on the map got a remaster. At least they did that right.

Re: Call of Duty: Vanguard (PS5) - More Safe But Solid FPS Action

RavenWolfe81

Man those two Stalingrad, Lady Nightingale levels put this campaign in much better standing than the CW one, imo. CW didn't catch me until the end when you get to make a choice but Vanguard's campaign is pretty good imo. I didn't expect that after reading some reviews. Like the story is a mess but the actual levels are good.

Re: Sony Establishes PlayStation PC Label to Spearhead Porting Push

RavenWolfe81

But then there's no need for a Playstation!!!... they'll say except PCs are far, far more expensive for similarly powered rig, you have to deal with Windows, drivers and troubleshooting, mining crazes that make it impossible to upgrade without getting exhorted and more.

I'll just plug in a PS and be happy but the option being there for people who want to do PC gaming is great.

Re: Rumour: Sackboy: A Big Adventure Is Making the Jump to PC

RavenWolfe81

@Ken_Kaniff

You make zero sense. That theory is bogus and purely emotional. If Sony will put sequels on PC then they aren't baiting PC gamers to buy a PS5... That would only work if they didn't port the sequels. If PC users can't be patient enough to wait for Forbidden West or GoW2 to come to PC and buy a PS5 out of FOMO, that's their fault.

Re: Crysis Remastered Trilogy (PS4) - A Franchise with an Identity Crysis

RavenWolfe81

I remember people freaking out over how amazing they thought Crisis looked because their PC couldn't run it. I thought it was just poorly optimised and then the sequels came. Much better games, with better graphics that actually ran well but people think that means the games aren't as good, or as memorable.

Some people treat the Metro series the same way, too.

Re: Far Cry 6 (PS5) - The Best Game in the Series, Sort Of

RavenWolfe81

Nice review, I pretty much agree. Easily the best FC game if for no reason other than pacing. You get the bulk of your basic cool stuff within an hour or so of play, instead of hand-holding. I wasn't going to buy the game but a friend sold me on it. Great game, great review but I don't mind using the benches and arming myself accordingly to the base, though. Seems like a guerilla fighter would have to do that, I'd think.

Re: Marvel's Avengers Attracts Ire After Adding XP Booster Microtransactions

RavenWolfe81

And people hate on Bungie for doing paid expansions with Destiny... The model just works. Companies can promise free maps and add-ons but someone has to pay for it and Square Enix got tired of paying.

I don't blame them but had they done paid expansion packs, they could have made bigger, better expansions where they also could invest in fixing the game's issues.

Re: PlayStation Poaches Apple Arcade Exec to Front Smartphone Push

RavenWolfe81

I've played a lot of Apple Arcade, there's some good games on it. If they do a PlayStation Arcade service, or maybe grow PS+ by including it AND if it has similar quality or better games than Apple's I'll be fine with it. Just keep console games coming and also design the mobile games to allow the player to use a controller and this doesn't have to be a bad thing.
