Re: Bungie Accused of Overselling Itself to Sony, Promising Success It Couldn't Deliver

Rodimusprime1313

Everyone knew that Bungie had limited potential with Destiny 2. What Bungie likely sold Sony on was their expertise and experience running Destiny 2. Likely someone made the bad decision to go ahead with buying Bungie at a very inflated price. Unfortunately I doubt this has been the only mistake since they were acquiring various game studios who hadn't published a single game.

Re: Random: PS3 Is Now the Only Console from Its Era with a Functional Store

Rodimusprime1313

I figure the only reason that the ps3/vita store is still available is that Sony was able roll back the software to close to the original version. The ps3/vita store seems to have some sort of DRM which allows for secure payment. The other reason is that the ps3 digital games are used as content for the ps+ premium and for training to create backwards compatibility with ps3 games on the ps5. All this is speculation but who knows?

Re: Deals: PS5 Price Cuts Continue with Savings on Consoles, Games, and Accessories (Europe)

Rodimusprime1313

Most previous consoles only got any discounts a few years after they launched. The ps3 launched for ~$600-$800 and only after several years did they drop to $300. And the X360 launched at $500 - $400. Several years later x360 was selling at $300 - $400. The VCR X1 launched at $500, only to drop to $400 after dropping Kinect were as the ps4 launched at $400. Incredibly the X1X launched at ~$750 but it was below cost and was discontinued after about a year. Just some background.

Re: PS5, PS4's New PS2 Emulator Fails to Pass Tech Test

Rodimusprime1313

I believe the problem is due to the fact that Sony locks the resolution on all there consoles to improve the visual fidelity. This means the games look great on the current consoles but they don't looks nearly as good on newer consoles. And an additional factor is that ps1 and ps2 are using standard definition and ps3 is were the Playstation moves to HD (sort of), with the ps4 having full HD.

Re: Rumour: Sony's Still Working on PS3 Emulation for PS5

Rodimusprime1313

My attitude about the ps2/ps3 emulator is that it's too little too late. For both the ps2 and ps3 they are reasonable powerful consoles but Sony locks the resolution on both consoles which makes it near impossible to upscale the graphics. From what I've seen Sony might add a few minor games, usually games from Sony or games that already have a HD version. It like out of roughly a library of 400 they release 3 games, which is nothing.

Re: Big Discounts on PS Plus Subs, PS5 Consoles, and PSVR2 in Days of Play Promotion

Rodimusprime1313

Gamestop formerly known as EB Games formerly known as Electronic Boutique has largely become ToyStop, given the amount of Toy and game merchandise they sell. Seriously what is the point of going all the way to Gamestop for a digital code when you can get the exact same thing online via your console and most digital content will go on sale unlike physical copies or digital codes( which never go on sale) I will almost always go for the cheapest option when getting games digital or physical since there are always games that don't drop in price or go on sale.

Re: New PS2 Emulator Appears to Be Imminent on PS5, PS4

Rodimusprime1313

It sounds great but, I doubt there will be any new digital games available that have not been available on the ps3. And most classics ps1/ps2 games have been remastered for HD consoles so I do question the value of what is likely to be a limited selection of ps2 games. If a wide selection of ps2 titles were available including titles that are not available digitally or a remastered version then I would be very interested in the ps2 classics. What I personally want to see on the ps+ premium tier are the ps1/2 Tales of games along with the Xenosega trilogy.

Re: Key Sony Exec Gives Eye-Opening Quotes on the Future of PlayStation and Gaming

Rodimusprime1313

I don't hear any real plans just lots of buzz words that don't mean anything. Game developers in general need to spend way more time writing the story before they even start doing any programming. I know lots of people who have Playstation consoles but I don't know anyone who actually has the VR or VR2. The VR2 with a Horizon bundle sells for $800 for just the VR 2 and the Horizon game.

Re: A Lot of PS4 Owners Have Yet to Upgrade to PS5

Rodimusprime1313

Sony has the same problem with the ps5/ps4 as it has with the ps3/ps2. The ps2 was very successful there was little reason for lots of people to upgrade to the ps3. The same is true for the ps4, there is so much on the ps4 and not very much on the ps5 there is little reason to upgrade when the ps5 sell for around $600. I have not seen one must play ps5 exclusive game that I want to play. Even then there has to be a collection of games otherwise it not worth buying a ps5.

Re: Hades 2 in Early Access Has Critics Raving, Big Jump Over First Game

Rodimusprime1313

To me critic reviews often mean anything since they tend to be very biased not very objective. I never understood why "professional critics" couldn't understand how to complete the cuphead tutorial which required you to shoot down to jump up. Hades was original and had lots of challenges to complete. I never buy a game without seeing actual gameplay first. Even games that get terrible critic reviews can be fun.

Re: Talking Point: Have Sony's Third-Party PS5 Deals Made Up for Its Lack of First-Party Games?

Rodimusprime1313

The ps4 had a amazing amount of games lots only available on the ps4 or just the ps4 and switch. Unfortunately for the ps5 Sony seems to focus on remastering older titles rather then producing anything new. The thing about 3rd party titles is they are not guaranteed to remain exclusive unless Sony is going to pay an arm and a leg. Final Fantasy XIV finally got a Xbox release and despite minor problems it's likely to help MS get future titles. Nintendo is releasing more games for the switch then Sony is releasing for the ps5.

Re: Square Enix Game Cancellations Likely as Publisher Records $140 Million Loss in 'Content Disposal'

Rodimusprime1313

Unfortunately SE keeps making the same mistakes over and over. What SE should realize is big budget titles don't always guarantee success and that smaller cheaper titles are sometimes the way to go. SE has a huge back catalogue of titles it could use or revamped for newer consoles and they don't all have to cost multi millions. Lots of titles could be released which could be reasonable cheap and they could easily make money on these titles. But unfortunately SE has gone the route of games that have flashy graphics yet the story is just not there, or just a afterthought. I believe FFXV is were SE stopped making games that had great stories, in my opinion.

Re: Confusion as Fallout 4 PS Plus Owners Unable to Download Free Next-Gen Update

Rodimusprime1313

I might be wrong but I believe this is largely a Playstation issue due to the ps4 and ps5. Unlike the Xbox which has smart delivery which allows X1 versions to be upgraded to Series Xbox versions while you keep the X1 version. The Playstation registers a ps4 and ps5 versions as two separate versions even for the same game. I believe that any ps4 version that is upgraded to the ps5 version overwrites the ps4 version and after upgrading you only have the ps5 version. There is also all kinds of issues related to ps+ versions of games as well. Once you claim any ps+ version of any game the playstation app will not allow you to purchase the same game because you "own it", even if it's just claimed for free with ps+. The only way to purchase any game claimed with ps+ is to either purchase the game on your console or to insert the physical copy which converts the ps+ to either a digital or physical version. Then of course there is game and content you can't claim or purchase due to owning another version. Personally I found from claiming the FF7 remake demo on the ps app it won't let me purchase the full game because I already own different version of FF7 remake.

Re: Tekken 8 Boss Says Younger Players Prefer Team-Based Games Because They Can Blame Losses on Others

Rodimusprime1313

Here is the problem, base game 93.50, deluxe 133.50, ultimate edition 146.50. Then you have the coins you can buy 500 are $7, 550 $67. So the top tier price tag is not enough they add in coins, to make even more money. For me most games that have paid consumable items I will avoid. I will make an exception for the Devil may Cry on the consoles, but that's it.

Re: Not Everyone Is in Love with Dragon's Dogma 2 on PS5

Rodimusprime1313

I really don't know much about DD2 but just from knowing it a huge open world with no fast travel I personally think that right of the bat it's going to be frustrating to be forced to spend a huge amount of time backtracking. Just think of how frustrating Witcher 3 or Skyrim would be without fast travel. Fast travel only takes you to certain locations in most games and it allows you to fully explore the world, which is much of the fun of RPG games.

Re: Documentary Details the Creation of PS5's Critically Acclaimed Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Rodimusprime1313

For me the Final Fantasy series peaked with the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy. I played FF 15 and 7 remake and yes they are not bad games but they get frustrating and tedious at times. I didn't enjoy the focus on mini games in FF7 and the hard mode was just annoying. To get the hard mode trophy you need to play though every chapter were you can't use items and can't recover MP. It seems that rebirth added even more mini games which is not what I wanted. And I got so frustrated with the dialogue cut scenes which can't be skipped the second time around.
