@Nem It will likely be referenced in Fallout 5, same as references happen in TES. Not everyone is gonna play the entire series or watch the show and they know that.
@AverageGamer That was why I mentioned both the comics and Wakanda Forever. When I was just thinking about Shu’ri at least. Mainstream goes off of what is most recent in their memory. Which is why most folks don’t realize Monica Rambeau was Captain Marvel way before Carol Danvers and only became Photon later. Either way, I will just hope for the best and see what happens.
@AverageGamer Yeah I just put out what I hoped for. It’s cool when devs really pay attention to the lore of its source material. I will just hope for the best and see what happens.
@Synthatron_Prime agreed. Assassins’s Creed dropped the numbers ages ago and at this point you can view each entry as a stand alone if you want and be fine. Despite the fact that the whole series is an ongoing story. FF doesn’t even have that to deal with.
I think Dragon Quest does it best. The numbered entries have a familiar template even as they improve mechanics, but the spin offs have their own subtitles (even if they get numbered sequels) that let you know up front that they are doing their own thing.
@Starkei I never said anything about not playing as T’Challa. But Shu’ri is blessed by Bast same as her brother and has a right to the mantle same as he. She just usually doesn’t want it.
But now that you mention other Black Panthers, it would be cool to see Ghost Panther (Ororo Monroe), Ngozi would be cool as she was also bonded with Venom.
So yeah now I am hoping they really dig into the comic lore. Thanks for that! 🥳
@AlekseyVolkov nobody mentioned her skin color but you. Are you ok? Even still what does her skin color have to do with anything? Do you dislike her because of her skin color? Why?
Anyway, she’s awesome because of roles like Zoe Washburn in Firefly/Serenity, her cameos in Xena, cleopatra 2025, her work in the matrix movies (even though I didn’t really like those movies), her video game and cartoon VA work, Suits, 911 lone star (granted I like the original 911 better). For some American Millennials, and even Gen Z given her cartoon work , we grew up with her work. She’s awesome because of her wide range of works and acting skills. She has a cool sense of humor too. She can sing as well. You don’t sound like you know anything about her or her work at all.
And what’s wrong with “strong women”? Women are varied and her range goes from drama to comedy to scifi. Not sure how playing a “strong woman” as you seemed to type cast her in is “bad acting”. Are male actors that play strong men bad actors? Or do you feel only male actors can have such roles? I mean you do you, I’m sure she doesn’t care, bills are paid at her house.
I really gotta start subscribing to streaming. I haven’t consistently watched tv since the early 2000’s so I have missed out on most popular culture but between xmen coming back and this… may need to give up a few months of life.
@Michael2008ish The game is plentiful with gold too. There is literally a quest that gives you 100k for showing up. A weapon that gives gold on each hit (and it’s random as I got 50k just for smacking a monster in the back of the head). Augments that increase your gold, treasure chests are everywhere and you can steal from NPCs. Anyone that plays the game should not be broke or having issues with fast travel even early on. And that is before you get into selling items (your pawns can even do that for you) or trading with other players. Multiple outcomes of quests also mean better rewards depending on your result. The harder items are upgrade parts (even though you can get a pawn specialization that marks harvest locations on the map) and even those are plentiful as many enemies respawn or you can set pawn quests to ask for items.
It’s fine that you don’t like the game, but you are misinforming users and using hyperbole when several of us are explaining the actual game mechanics.
Also enemy variants depend on where you go; I tend to run into saurians and harpies way more than the goblin variants. But I spend a lot of time in caves near water and on cliffs so that’s what spawns there.
@Michael2008ish No the game gives out Portcrystals in addition to the two that are stationary as you can have 10 fast travel points on the map. Some come with quests and at least one you stumble upon organically. One you have to request from the game during a quest. I still prefer to walk or use ox carts (which are also fast travel) as I am still working on seeker tokens but I pretty much can hop all over the map at will and I don’t even have the maximum portcrystals yet. The game is pretty generous with them. I had 5 within my first 20 hours. (Not including the stationary ones… seriously the game gives you 4 of them in quests)
Ferrystones are sold by vendors in game, in chests and are quest rewards, and NPCs give them to you. Also they carry over to new playthroughs. So if you missed one or two you don’t start over. And after a point you have so much coin that you can buy them whenever you want. I just stack them whenever I run across a vendor. I never have less than 20 at this point. Fast travel isn’t an issue. But the game doesn’t hold your hand.
Anyone that mentions how plentiful items are isn’t misinforming anyone, we are literally telling you how the game works.
Lol I am on 130 hours. I’m not gonna notice any patches at this point. Haven’t had any quest issues either. Loving my time so far. It’s pretty much what I wanted in a DD sequel and I can’t put it down. Also love the little ways the game makes you question yourself. Like changing berries between playthroughs. Game had me confused over cranberries lol.
PSA: the price of berries goes up based on what is in your world. So if you have strawberries in your first play through and blueberries in your next, the strawberries are worth more (also two berry types make a unique item).
I’m sure people said that when prices went to 60. With inflation companies have to roll out the price increase slowly because people will choose groceries over games but 70 is the new 60. Either pay up or wait for sales. I suspect once Nintendo puts out the newer system that people have been screaming about in the corners of the internet, they will raise their prices. Once they go up I feel the industry is going to go up across the board more quickly. That being said gaming is still cheaper than the 90’s and most people have a backlog that lasts into several decades. People can wait for sales if they really want to.
I wouldn’t be surprised. But I won’t be hurt if they don’t. I have already put in over 120 hours so I got my money’s worth. I do think some quests in Batahl were left open ended. But I also haven’t gotten the true ending yet. I feel the game is designed for at least two play throughs and I am on my second one. Loving the lore.
Edit: many quests pay off on the endgame so i take that back.
The game already messes with you with slight world state changes (shops, berries and dialogue).
Loving it. Haven’t put it down since launch. Such a fun experience. I’m loving gathering and exploring every nook and cranny of the world and even the random escort missions that take me in the opposite direction of where I was intending to go mean a new cave or treasure chest I missed. Pure adventure at its core.
I’m playing on series x and for me it’s an 8.5/9. It’s monster hunter with mmo features that I actually can enjoy. DD2 is one of those games where it is less about the story (I love the lore for the series btw) but more about the feel of the game. For me it feels like the ps2 to 360 (sorry sony is my tertiary system so I don’t think of them first) era of game design; games like onimusha, way of the samurai and some of the feel of some JRPGs at the time but of course more refined, but it is looking to a specific style. The game expects you to wander and to stumble but it isn’t out to murder you. So many hidden systems in the gameplay make it feel organic and unique to each player.
Add that to a world that always has something around the corner and a fun system of training your AI party it feels both an advancement of traditional JRPGs and its own thing. Love it. Pawn system is so great and the enemy al as well ( I saw some video where a goblin waited until an entire party was on a bridge and the ran up and whacked the bridge, introducing them to the Brine) Also I love the slight changes to the system to increase the risk/reward feel. Things like dragonsplague, adaptive difficulty, and raids make your choices matter without feeling like the game is out to brutalize you (reason I can’t get into souls games). I plan on doing two run throughs but I am camping the mid game right now just wandering and grinding.
They deserve it. I had so much fun! It doesn’t really lend to a sequel but I hope they figure out some way to come back to this system (granted VW love to one hit wonder their games). Played on Nintendo Switch.
Personally I’d rather worry about having a playable game vs some non intrusive microtransactions (and DD has been playable for me on series x vs cyberpunk at launch and several years after).
I don’t know how it works on PlayStation but I have to exit to the MS store to even see the transactions. I bought the deluxe edition and I was playing for 2 hours before I realized I didn’t install dlc I bought. I literally didn’t notice. I’m not saying that such monetization can’t be abused but all the the DD2 dlc is designed to allow the player to make the game easier without impacting the actual game difficulty.
That’s why they released the character creator prior to release. How you build your characters has a direct impact on the game (movement speed, reach, stamina, carry weight, race) which is why you can’t change them easily. The game is designed to make fast travel scarce which is why you have limited port crystals (and have to play through more than once to get the max). Which is also why the non instant fast travel has a failure rate.
The game is supposed to be hard/punishing which is why wakestones aren’t prevalent before the post dragon game (granted you still stumble over them everywhere). But some folks don’t have time or want to spend that much time, so you can buy the same items you can find/buy in game if you want to speed things up. But somebody buying 99 wakestones isn’t gonna impact the online aspect of the game (everybody keeps forgetting DD isn’t a purely offline experience and requires online interaction heavily unless you solo as even capcom pawns are traded by players) short of allowing them to level fast which means I can’t afford their pawn. Even buying rift crystals has a risk because you could get a plague pawn.
There are few games that allow the player to inadvertently set the difficulty like DD. When I played the first game on 360 I had a friend that had a maxed out pawn. That made the game easier until I was around level 30 and I still died several times. The game was still designed to accommodate having a “boost” and that’s before the adaptive difficulty in the current game. Honestly anyone complaining about dlc in this game either hasn’t played it or is against dlc.
You wanna talk predatory capcom dlc? Azura’s wrath. Nuff said. Either way Cyberpunk devs need to go sit down somewhere.
Don’t Nod is a mixed bag for me. I enjoyed remember me and the first life is strange (and life is strange isn’t that good) but everything else I have not enjoyed. Yet despite that I want them to make another game that draws me in like remember me.
Oh wait I forgot about Vampyr. I haven’t finished it but it’s not bad.
First off, what happened to Galactus? Second while I love games that dig into the Marvel grab bag (mainly because it is often the only way the characters I like get a chance to shine) I am not fond of marvel heroes fighting each other (bad enough when it happens in the comics) there are tons of baddies, go beat them up. And lastly I am not feeling that art style.
This looks like an attempt to pull in the east asia market and I hope it works out for them. I will pass though. Plenty of other marvel games to play. Probably best to keep on PC for a bit to focus on the Asia demographic.
@Foxhound I liberated all towns and unlocked all the hidden/activation spots and beat the post game mission which was ludicrous in about 50 hours also maxed out the offline coliseum. Played on normal difficulty. Not sure if I wanna do a harder run (beating the game unlocks a new difficulty). But initially rolled end credits in about 43 hours.
I loved it. Lost 3 days to it with ease. Plus the story was fun. And no it’s not brainwashing like so many reviewers said. As an Ogre Battle fan I couldn’t be happier.
Not interested. I pretty much bought the PS5 as a PS4 Pro that also plays new games so I will continue to do that if I buy a PS6. Did the same with the Series X. I don’t do mid gen upgrades unless it is a handheld. I don’t feel games are pushing the Twins anyway. This has been a very mild gen so far for me.
Got the notification yesterday. Immediately kicked the new pawn out my party. You won’t infect my kindhearted pawn! Granted the lore potential is astounding. What if even Grigori is the first pawn? (Yes I know the dragon origin in the first game but the lore is a link in the chain and revolves around willpower. I’m wondering if the first dragon ever born of the cycle and imbued with both will and compulsion by the maker (and not you know who) is a pawn. After all what separates pawns from mortals is spirit/will) I love this franchise.
The game is designed to be played multiple times and the mtx are primarily found in normal gameplay anyway. They are really just for people that want to make the game easier without breaking it for everyone else (as the pawn system relies on other players. Probably why the plague was introduced) buy the mtx if you want them, ignore them if you don’t. Half the stuff they are selling were things people complained about in the first game.
So glad they tweaked the pawn system. Forager pawns mark resources on your map and even point out treasure chests if they see them. Dragon/Grigori who? I’m just wandering. I’m still mad at that griffin I got down to 1/4 health and it bailed on the fight. Come back you coward!
It could work if it was about the player using the game to cope with their life issues and them learning from the game to come out of their shell and not need the game anymore as a buffer. Or as a horror movie. Existential crisis simulator?
I’m pretty much expecting it to be DD1 with more in game political issues but it wasn’t like the first game didn’t touch on the political issues in Gransys and honestly I preferred that to the more personal story told in Dark Arisen even though it shed more light on the nature of pawns. As long as the basic structure and hopefully the everfall remain the same I am good.

I’m wondering if the first dragon ever born of the cycle and imbued with both will and compulsion by the maker (and not you know who) is a pawn. After all what separates pawns from mortals is spirit/will) I love this franchise.
Re: Capcom Responds to Dragon's Dogma 2 Microtransaction, Performance Backlash
The game is designed to be played multiple times and the mtx are primarily found in normal gameplay anyway. They are really just for people that want to make the game easier without breaking it for everyone else (as the pawn system relies on other players. Probably why the plague was introduced) buy the mtx if you want them, ignore them if you don’t. Half the stuff they are selling were things people complained about in the first game.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Dragon's Dogma 2?
Having fun but geez this game is out to kill me. Got 4 big encounters in a row in what looked like a desolate area.
Re: Dragon's Dogma 2 Slated for Adding Sinister PS5 Microtransactions at Launch
shrugs I have a dragon to kill.
Re: Dragon's Dogma 2 (PS5) - The Apex of RPG Adventuring
So glad they tweaked the pawn system. Forager pawns mark resources on your map and even point out treasure chests if they see them. Dragon/Grigori who? I’m just wandering. I’m still mad at that griffin I got down to 1/4 health and it bailed on the fight. Come back you coward!
Re: Rise of the Ronin (PS5) - A Safe, Outdated Open World Game
Dragon’s Dogma 2 it is then. I will get this on sale later.
Re: The Sims Is Being Turned into a Movie
It could work if it was about the player using the game to cope with their life issues and them learning from the game to come out of their shell and not need the game anymore as a buffer. Or as a horror movie. Existential crisis simulator?
Re: Beware, Arisen, Dragons Dogma 2 Spoilers Are in the Wild
I’m pretty much expecting it to be DD1 with more in game political issues but it wasn’t like the first game didn’t touch on the political issues in Gransys and honestly I preferred that to the more personal story told in Dark Arisen even though it shed more light on the nature of pawns. As long as the basic structure and hopefully the everfall remain the same I am good.
Re: Let Acting Legend Ian McShane Introduce You to Dragon's Dogma 2
Never heard of this actor but the trailer itself looks great.
Re: MACROSS Shooting Insight Gearing Up for Western Release on PS5, PS4
