Re: Opinion: How Reviews Can Colour a Game's Reception

SillyBoyJudas

I tend to have my mind already set on a game before it is released. When looking at reviews I use them as an overview of what to expect for games I am unsure of getting or to compare my own feelings of a game or as an option to know more of a game. Reviews in gaming culture is changing because we do get to see live streams of games that more than help with a gamer deciding to purchase a game or not. Overall, a review is an opinion that enable the reader to get a general understanding of a game.

Best of all as gamers we should experience that game we have in our sights to play rather than setting standards, which is why demos of games are a great way to get a feel for a pre-released game(but that is a discussion for another time)

Greeat score! I have played for some hours and really enjoy it. I have not played a DBZ game since Budokai Tenkaichi 3. I enjoy the open range fighting which I have missed. The game could use a few updates for online play as well as for locking on to an opponent. Those are kinks that can be fixed. If you have been waiting for a nice Dragon Ball Z game this is a great go!

Perfect score Robert!

Re: Talking Point: How Important Is Game Length?

SillyBoyJudas

I think that games that have a longer experience you can get a lengthy enjoyment with. But also games like the Assassins Creed series that are lengthy due to trying to be a completionist is exhausting to complete and become more of a task to complete instead of being fun to complete.

Resogun is a short game but fun to complete as well as addicting.
God of War III - as mentioned in the article - is a legend on PS3 and the experience is very memorable and is a household name to the PlayStation brand and the story is short.
I personally finished Second Son in less than a week - Platinum in a week - but the game was personally fun to play and pleased me as a gamer.

If a game is short but great I am for it. If a game is long and great I am all for it. I choose quality of game experience over everything else developers do for games.

Re: Talking Point: Do Review Scores Have a Future?

SillyBoyJudas

I believe we should just keep the Review Score. If I am unsure of the game I usuaully just scroll down to the number on here, IGN, & GameSpot to compare scores which are usually the same all around. But I also take to reading the article to get more info on why the game received the score it did. Even for some games I have no interest in, seeing the score has pushed me to read an article and actually get the game.

Take Tomb Raider Definitive Edition. I had no interest in the game until seeing scores for the game & reading did I have a change of perception and knew I would like the game. I look at scores for tv episodes & movies too. I do not dare to read articles on those but the score always influences me on choosing to watch a new show or not.

Keep The Scores. They are for a quick justification for those who do not have the time to read articles or who want to. But the score also causes some gamers like myself to take a chance at reading up on the game to see why they received the score they did.

Re: PlayStation Now's All-You-Can-Play Subscription Service Launches Next Week

Will not be diving into this due to not having a great internet speed. If two people running Netflix in my house slows down the internet, then I can not imagine how streaming games will affect my gameplay. This is a step in the right direction for Sony though & hope they can make more money off of the PlayStation brand by including this on Smart TV's and tablets.

Re: Game of the Year: Gold Trophy - inFAMOUS: Second Son

SillyBoyJudas

Honestly, Second Son lived up to the hype that was the face for getting a PS4 when it was released as well as being enjoyable to play during PS4's first year. Besides TLOU Remastered, no other game has lived up to the hype or the potential as I thought it would. Second Son deserves the Platinum Trophy in my book for PS4's game of 2014

Re: Game of the Year: Best PS4 Games of 2014

SillyBoyJudas

My game of the year is gonna have to go to inFamous Second Son from the games I have played. I have played a lot of games this year but no other game has engaged me to have fun playing while gameplay is fun to play with as well. I wish there was a multiplayer concept to the game though. I still am vying to get Dragon Age Inquisition when I actually get a chance. But 2014 has been a bleak year for the PS4 in terms of games being released.

2015 is looking much brighter with No Man's Sky. Uncharted 4, The Division, Dragon Ball Xenoverse, Star Wars Battlefront, Arkham Knight, so much to look forward to.
