@Drago201 he was responding to a question in the interview. He mentioned what he was doing and nothing more. He wasn't trying to make a grand announcement. We hear about studios being formed all of the time, but they don't announce a game with it. What's the difference now?
Looking foward to Prince of Persia. It's been on my wishlist, but haven't bothered because I was finishing other games. It's the perfect time to play now.
Since Uncharted 2, I've been a day 1 purchase for ND games, including TLOU remasters. The topic of "faith and religion" will really get people thinking the ND studio sold out. LOL! I'm all in.
But also, does this mean that comments will be disabled for the game on this site? Since it definitely will turn "political"?
I was apart of the It Takes Two increase because of how good Split Fiction looked at The Game Awards. Nice to see I wasn't the only one who became interested in it off of the hype of Split Fiction's announcement.
@FinneasGH the Thing yea, I'd say is mostly a re-skin of the Hulk in only one of his 3 forms. Human Torch's flying capabilities and moves are much different than Iron Man's and a better version.
@Drago201 he was the director of a studio contracted with Netease. He wasn't the game director of Marvel Rivals. They also only created the destruction mechanisms for the game. Reading the actual blog post and the follow-ups explains everything. But it's easier to read simplified articles of what's happening because it's easier to consume.
If people actually read the post of someone who stated that they were no longer working for Netease, it would only be to design the game world destruction method. They also were not under Netease but a separate studio. Netease won't be hurt by people saying they are going to delete the game and the misleading backlash that's being received. I'm anti-capitalism, but people were misled by the media, including PS, sucking this up.
@PushButtons It's called having other games you're getting through, enjoying playing games for fun instead of going through a serious story, and prioritizing other games over others. This excludes the usual excuse of "not having the time". Now go troll someone else.
If it's a showcase of games coming to PlayStation, we don't just expect AAA big game announcements but games to get us hype for having a PS console. I'd rather we leave this up to publishers making the announcements rather than Sony.
No one can control someone else's expectations, but this State of Play was to show what 2025 would look like. To say that we can't judge 2025 based on the first State of Play of the year is unrealistic and offputting.
Well seeing as I still have yet to finish the rest of TLOU 2, being as it's in my full gaming backlog, I guess I have 2 more years to completely finish the story before being spoiled by the show.
@Frmknst Take-Two owns both Borderlands 4 and GTA 6. It has nothing to do with how big a game B4 is or not. It's not good for the company's profit margin.
I'm usually on the positive side but this was disappointing(poor). I didn't expect big game announcements but wanted more of a path to see what gaming on PlayStation would look like for 2025. I was hoping for maybe more info about Naughty Dog's game, maybe a Sony Studio announcement of a game to release at the end of the year. Much of this felt more like announcements for beyond 2026 or more gameplay on games we have already decided to get for the first half of 2026.
For all those comments that always say "I don't get the hype" or "Why does PushSquare post many updates or rumors or conspiracy theories", well, GTA 5 is the biggest game of all time whether you think so or not. GTA 6 release will break record numbers.
@h15c0r3r according to sales, you are in the 60% majority. But on this site, it seems we both are in the minority. I haven't bought a physical game since getting my PS5 a few years ago. I don't see the point of buying physical games anymore.
I play the Pac-Man game repeatedly on PS1 because it was the only game I had as a kid back then when I got it for Christmas. I'm looking forward to returning and aiming for the platinum trophy.
This would make total sense. You can currently buy GTA Online separately from GTA 5 already. That's also the reason why GTA continued to be in the top 10 game sales monthly for years.
This is one of my most anticipated games for 2025. With how good the trailer was, I decided to get It Takes Two and very excited to have another game to play with my bf who isn't into gaming but has really enjoyed It Takes Two.
I have done mobile gaming for Pokemon Go and Clash Royale. But for gaming, I can do on my console or PC, I wouldn't choose to do it on my phone if it was made as an option.
However, this would be healthy competition for the mobile gaming industry.
I am not surprised by the top 20 lists because they match the monthly physical copies list somewhat similarly. You can also see that American & Canadian tastes are slightly different from European gamers.
Funny enough, this site aside, I barely have had anyone bring up Astrobot or recommend it. Even with all of its accolades.
This gameplay will be the determining factor of I getting the game or not. I was excited to get it on day 1 but with the two delays and constant "redoing development" I've begun to lose interest.
@breakneck Trust me, they don't report on all of the rumors or skepticism. The GTA 6 reddit has so many crazy theories that it's turned into a cult-like subreddit now.
GTA 6 is the only game I would happily pay $100 for. GTA 5 has the most hours played on PS5 because of GTA Online. There's so much content released in GTA 5 that it's worth the price if it's set this way for GTA 6. For a game that was released 10 years ago and is still going strong, yes.
I like Shuhei Yoshida but The Last of Us is critically acclaimed in the gaming world and so was the Uncharted series and copies sold showed that. But constantly remastering the same games and then doing special collection edition versions and then doing those same collections but as remasters, you're milking the IP to where gamers will see it as a cash grab. His response sounds more on the lines of capitalism talk rather than gamer interest discussion.
@Ashina it's so weird thinking PS5 is nearly 5 years old. I only have had mine for 2 years due to low stock. It's weird specifically because there haven't been more than a dozen PS5 games without also releasing on PS4. I hope that this current gen lasts longer before we get a PS6 announcement because PS5 as a console has barely pushed it's limits compared to PS4 at the same age.
PS5 Pro won't gain a bigger audience this year. Games still aren't setting the standard of gaming at 60 FPS. Not many games are just current gen but includes PS4/Xbox One. We are at least 2 years away from PS5 Pro gaining momentum.
@Sammy sorry but the GTA 6 modular map I feel is an easy win for you. GTA 5 online map doesn't change frequently but only mildly for special events like rain and UFO's for Halloween, snow during the Christmas season, and then when new businesses are released their are minor changes in those map areas alread.
@Ogbert I'm becoming annoyed with people with your take on Marvel Rivals being a success after the many live-service failures and you blame it on being a recognizable IP. The Marvel Avengers game was a failure of a game. Other Marvel games have failed. Marvel Rivals is actually fun, has modes where you can be competitive and modes where you can just play for fun. Stop using the "Marvel is so recognizable" as to why it's a success. If $30 million alone came from China, that means it's not just the IP because multiple Marvel shows and movies have been banned from being watched in the country.
Besides continuing wherever I left off when putting my PS5 in rest mode, I check the What's New tab to see what friends are online and I like to see the friend updates tab just to see games they've been playing, trophies gained, and games they're trying out for the first time. I like that aspect. It's also good to quickly see if any of the games on my wishlist are on sale.
@Icey664 I think what pushes GTA V into the ranks time and time again is that you can purchase GTA Online separately from the story mode. That's the only thing that I can think of that makes logical sense.
Gamers telling developers to stop with DEI are the same ones using the word "woke" wrong. These delusional people change the entire true meaning of words/phrases to fit their own political agenda. Just enjoy the game, movie, or show. Stop whining!
Competitive play in Rivals can be toxic and anger-filled when you have a losing streak and drop ranks. Quickplay is for learning how to play with characters and utilizing them when you do go into Quickplay. I have no problem with bots being in-game because it's great practice to play with new characters to prep for competitive mode and if you just play for fun. I don't use Quickplay often but when I do, it's not often that I lose more than one game in a row. Quickplay is more of a relaxed and less tense gaming match for Rivals where there's no risk of losing rank or players being enraged at you.
I'm glad Helldivers made it to the top 10 but think it deserves to be in the top 5. The action-oriented fun of the game revived in me how fun games can be without a serious tone or being hard on yourself because you can't get pass a certain part.
@breakneck the game costs $40 and is a live-service game. The issue isn't over needing to pay for in-game content(weapons, cosmetics, equipment). The problem is that they're charging 2x the cost for only 4-5 items when for the same price of real money or in-game currency, you can get literally 10x that for the same price.
@LavenderShroud it's an awards show. Games receiving awards are the same as movies, music, and TV show awards. We consume entertainment in different ways. Awards cause a boost to attention to the specific form of media, developers can get more money for future games, and create hype for the next game. We will still be talking about gaming awards from TGA or the next gaming event at least 2 or 3 weeks later. This is nothing new. For gaming and any other entertainment award event.
Why is Mark Cerny and Sony mentioning references to PS6?! PS5 only recently has become readily available with stock within the past year at minimum. PS5 only has a handful of games that you can't get on PS4 and the only immediate one I can think of is Helldivers 2.
PS6 needs to be at least teased in 2027. We are entering in 2025 without games still releasing on both PS4 and PS5.
@AhmadSumadi day 1 releases are not a smart way to go whether it can keep subscriber numbers or not. I also don't think it's smart for studios to do this. Many of us can't play day 1 releases also when a game is later added to PS+ it's an opportunity for us to dive in and get our subscription worth.
For instance, I was interested in Forspoken but after the first reviews, I decided to not even waste money and give it a go.
Witcher 3 is on PS+ and I have never had an interest in it until seeing The Witcher 4 trailer. So now I don't have to spend money, even on the discounted complete edition rate and get my PS+ Extra worth by playing the game and deciding 50+ gaming hours later if I want to play the DLC for $10-$20.
@Aaron Bayne, I'm gonna push back and say after The Game Awards announcement for the new faction in Hell Divers 2, they also released new content the same night. The amount of players who have been playing since then has skyrocketed to high numbers. A second wind has hit the servers.
Finally, we are getting a new IP from Naughty Dog! Took long enough. I need a story and gameplay trailer before solidifying a pre-order. I'm all for game narratives and action, and hope this new direction of an IP keeps up with the great ND quality of their other games.
@LikelySatan This is the first time I've ever heard of Turok. I thought this was a new IP until I got online and realized that it's not. Not all of us were old enough for the popularity of N64 or never had a N64. I'm hyped for this game.
As a person who has yet to play Astro Bot, did it really deserve GOTY over the others? I haven't played an Astro game since the PS4 early days when they had the bots to explore the abilities of the DS4.
Helldivers 2 I am glad took home their awards. The game beat out even Fortnite for best ongoing game and I didn't expect that to happen.
