Re: PlayStation All-Stars Beta Begins This Week for Plus Subscribers

Stuffgamer1

@IAmNotWill: Trust me, it IS really dumb. I've played a previous private beta, I'd know. That said, I do intend to try it out again this time and see how much may have been changed...though I fear the main issue of how to actually make a kill is simply unsolvable. sigh

@Azikira: The PS Blog says all six characters are still in the beta...can't think of any reason they'd remove one. Good thing too, since Sly is the only one I did decently with...

Re: Sony: Trophies Are Coming to PlayStation Mobile

Stuffgamer1

Yeah, right...they decided to add Trophy support after people on the PS Blog begged for it directly following the launch of PS Mobile. There was reportedly not even any mention of such plans in developer documentation prior to that event (as told me by a developer friend of mine), meaning they've panicked and intend to add it due solely to consumer demand. Demand that they SHOULD have seen coming, had they had any sense in their heads in the first place.

Re: Four New Playable Animals Stalk Tokyo Jungle This Week

Stuffgamer1

I hope there's some indestructible wardrobe options that go somewhere besides the body...I could use the boosts. I think it's kind of lame that they showed off playing DLC characters in the trailer, but that's probably just a result of the trailer being localized from the version that didn't HAVE DLC.

Re: Review: Tokyo Jungle (PlayStation Network)

Stuffgamer1

@hamispink: Your decision shouldn't be too hard...Toro and Kulche are equippable items, not playable animals. That said, they do offer decent stat boosts and are indestructable, which is VERY nice. However, it should be noted that some items are only equippable on certain sizes of animals. I've played as Pomeranian and Cat thus far and haven't been able to use Kulche at all (it's greyed out).

Game's definitely strange, but addictive. I do wish the Challenges would stop telling me to go into Alligator and Lion-infested areas, though. What little housecat stands a chance against them?

Re: Sony Is Suing Bridgestone and, Erm, Kevin Butler

Stuffgamer1

@Jaydg1977: Given development cycles, that COULD have already been programmed...I wouldn't count on it, but it's possible.

I remember when the story about that commercial was funny. Leave it to lawyers to mess that one up. Maybe if Sony had kept making use of the Kevin Butler character, Lambert would have had to do this other ad!

Re: Review: Tokyo Jungle (PlayStation Network)

Stuffgamer1

I got all the DLC free on PS+.

I don't have the GAME yet though, 'cause I didn't know enough about it and there was no demo at launch (so tired of that problem on PSN...it's the single largest advantage I feel XBLA has). Sounds pretty darned interesting, though...so of course the launch Plus discount is probably already over.

EDIT: It wasn't! Bought it last night just before bed. Haven't played it yet, though.

Re: Spend $100 on PSN This Month and Get $20 Back

Stuffgamer1

Hmm...since I prefer retail when given the choice, I'm really not sure if I'll hit $100 this month or not. Then again, New Little King's Story doesn't seem to be going retail, so that's a good chunk right there. If Sony certifies FFIII for Vita in the next month, that's $20 more...seriously, there's no excuse for it not to have already been certified. I don't think I've seen even ONE new PSP release since the Vita launched that WAS certified for Vita day one...but I digress.

Without knowing what all will release over the course of the month, I really can't say whether or not I'll hit $100. Be nice if I did though, I guess.

Re: Shuhei Yoshida Laments Limited Third-Party Vita Support

Stuffgamer1

@JavierYHL: Dunno about where you live, but Ragnarok Odyssey releases in America in a couple of weeks...that's an action-RPG. Looking forward to that one.

I noticed that after some months with nothing to get for Vita, the software is suddenly coming out of the woodwork. In the course of a single month (in day count, not calendar) I get LBP Vita, New Little King's Story, Ragnarok Odyssey, AND Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward. Even if New Little King's Story isn't available at retail, the others still come to double my retail Vita game collection. Nice to have some new games to use this thing for.

Re: PlayStation All-Stars' Full Launch Roster Has Been Revealed

Stuffgamer1

I suspect Crash and Spyro didn't make it in because Activision didn't want to play nice. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there were DLC plans, though...that's the era we live in now, eh?

You can say the game is looking better since the beta, but I've have to play it to believe it. From my beta experience, I'm still definitely against this game.

Re: Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee New N' Tasty! Coming to PS3 and Vita

Stuffgamer1

Took me a bit to figure out what they meant by "flip screen." He means static screens that change when you move between them as opposed to a camera that just follows you over a larger environment, right? Interesting change...I never played the original game, but I did watch a playthrough online. Looked too awkward to enjoy; maybe this remake will fix the issues.

Re: PSP's Digital Comics Store Closes Its Doors Next Month

Stuffgamer1

Yeah, I know, Sammy...and I don't like it. The theory is that more popular, more widely-used services and purchased goods won't go down as quickly, especially when Sony keeps trying to make new hardware play older games (for the most part...ish...they used to be better at it). This wouldn't be a problem if they at least had a Vita app up and running and TRANSFERRED our purchases before shutting the PSP store down. Dunno why THEY couldn't have thought of that...

Re: PSP's Digital Comics Store Closes Its Doors Next Month

Stuffgamer1

So they're actually more or less stealing purchased goods from legitimate customers. NOT COOL, GUYS! Under no circumstances should purchased goods EVER be removed from the customers' download lists. I've spent some money on that service...not as much as some people I'm sure, but some. I'm not at all happy to learn that if anything happens to the data for my downloads, it'll be gone forever.

I would like them to release an app for Vita...but after this BS, I'm not sure I'd be willing to risk dropping money on it again. If their goal was to squash consumer confidence...they've succeeded.

Re: Sony Patents Biometric Player Identification Technology

Stuffgamer1

Anti-piracy is okay, but content restriction just makes it sound like they'll make it harder than ever to share content with family, and that's no good. Still, Sony has a good history of patenting horrible consumer-unfriendly tech and NOT using it, so I'm not too concerned just yet.

Re: Sony Bullish About PS3 and Vita Connectivity

Stuffgamer1

@Hyperstar96: I agree, and I especially hate it when they completely write off the Nintendo experience where it concerns first-party software. The reasons to get a Wii U that will NOT be undermined by PS3/Vita connection include Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros. U, and Pikmin 3. Moving forward, expect Zelda, Metroid, etc. Sony acts like gamers don't like those series, and that's just plain stupid.

I'm not the least bit surprised that the vast majority of Vita owners already have a PS3; that's kind of how they marketed the thing, after all. But that doesn't mean it's worth the bother to program stuff for it. This will likely go about as far as Simulview...fewer than ten supporting games, with no incentive to make more.

Re: Kingdom Hearts Is Finally Getting Remixed in HD for PS3

Stuffgamer1

This is a very weird release plan, simply because Re: Chain of Memories was originally part of KHII Final Mix+ in the first place. But I suppose I can't complain if they actually put more than more game in the set at all, seeing as they saw fit to put FFX in HD by itself (unless they announce the delay was to pack in its sequel...I hope).

I suspect that 3582 Days will be cutscenes only. Remastering a PS2 game for PS3 isn't all that hard...you usually don't have to change all that many assets. In order to port a DS game, though, they'd pretty much have to remake the entire thing. Also, it's not a very good game, IMO, and I don't feel like fans who haven't played the game would be missing much to skip it entirely. Having the story laid out for them is plenty sufficient.

If they made another collection with 2, Re: Coded, and 3D, PS3 would still be missing Birth By Sleep...I think if they're going to move the games to PS3 they need to do ALL of them. But I'll gladly take what I can get when it's made available all the same.

Re: Midway Arcade Origins Resurrects Classics for PS3

Stuffgamer1

SWEET! Loved the collections on PS2, but don't have them (or an easy way to play them) anymore, so this'll be AWESOME! Title wish list:

Root Beer Tapper. Seriously, I love that game...back when I had a 360, I got into the top 100 on the leaderboard. Great stuff.
Toobin'. Silly fun. Woooooah!
A few that are already announced like Gauntlet and Rampage...man, this is gonna rock.

It's worth noting that I'm currently using a browser that can't run the video from bauckster's link, so if either of the titles I mentioned were featured in it, I wouldn't know.

Re: PlayStation Plus Enhances Vita This November

Stuffgamer1

@get2sammyb: Really? I never seriously entertained that notion...I think Sony's been quite clear about maximizing value for PS3/Vita gamers. When they're willing to run Cross Buy, it's crazy to think they'd charge a little more for cross PS Plus.

What I'm really looking forward to is finally having a way to back up save data...sounds like we'll be able to do so without copying the entire game, otherwise a gig would be worthless...that fix has been needed since Vita launch, and anybody with a Vita who DOESN'T get PS Plus for that alone is insane.

Re: New Little King's Story Stomps into North America Next Month

Stuffgamer1

Raises hand as one of the three.

Seriously, I've been checking for info on this game's release for a few months now. I THOUGHT XSeed was publishing it...and would release at retail...and now it's Konami and download only? What the heck? I'm sure this game, being originally DESIGNED for retail, is going to be on the large side file-size-wise, too. Ugh.

Re: Sony Discouraging Console Ports on PlayStation Vita

Stuffgamer1

@Samholy: Now you're talking about a completely different kind of port. IMO, there's a big difference between a remake of an old game like OoT 3D and Starfox 64 3D, and a made-at-the-same-time game like the aforementioned PS3/Vita titles. Updates to games years after the fact are generally the preferable option between the two, at least to my taste.

Re: Rumour: Gravity Rush's Kat to Turn PS All-Stars Upside Down

Stuffgamer1

@Azikira: The Dojo did wait until slightly after launch to announce the last few characters, as I recall...but yeah, telling too much too soon can get annoying, especially when many of the characters are unlockable.

If they can throw the stupid Fat Princess in there, Kat DEFINITELY deserves a space. It's just a shame the game (All-Stars, to clarify) isn't any good...played the Beta, cancelled my pre-order. Seriously, I don't recommend it. The bigger a Smash fan you are, the more likely this is to disappoint as it just changes far too much.

Re: Sony Discouraging Console Ports on PlayStation Vita

Stuffgamer1

When I read that headline, my first thought was of titles such as PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. If they're trying to convince us that console ports aren't the mission here, they need to STOP MAKING THEM!

I have no problem with spin-off titles like Uncharted: Golden Abyss; IMO, new entries in popular series are big system-sellers for portable consoles, and it helps link the PlayStation brand together instead of it feeling like PS3 and Vita are for completely different markets (though obviously, the gamer's needs are at least somewhat different between the two).

Of course, new IP's are always a good idea, and that's something I think the PSP failed in rather spectacularly. Sure there were some like Patapon and Loco Roco, but they were few, far between, and lacking in high-level quality. Gravity Rush is a step in the right direction on Vita, and they've recently announced others...so they may yet get that right. Hopefully.

Re: Feature: The Making Of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Stuffgamer1

@ChunkyDroid: Yeah, that works too. Do what you gotta do, I guess.

@Mandoble: IIRC, there's a menu option so you can have it either way. Been years since I played it on XBLA though, so you probably shouldn't take that as 100% fact.

@Omega: If the prices are really so bad for a PS1 copy, you might just be better off getting an HD system to do the downloading. Besides which...it's kinda late in the console generation to still be without either, especially for someone still following a gaming news site like this.

Re: Feature: The Making Of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Stuffgamer1

@DraculaX: It always pays to do a little internet research before making such claims of foreign digital shops. The European PSN does NOT have Symphony of the Night available for purchase. My research shows that they CAN get it on XBLA, however. So you have to shudder play it on Xbox 360 if you want it in Europe, pretty much.

I guess it sold so poorly at original release, they don't even think it'd do well on PSN now. That really sucks. Can't even get Castlevania X Chronicles...I had no idea it was so hard to be a Castlevania fan in Europe!
