"These descriptions will provide additional contextual information alongside the spoken dialogue to create a more detailed experience for players with low vision."
I'm all for accessibility features in general, but this one confuses me. How many players could a video game possibly have that can see well enough to play the game but not well enough to understand the cutscenes? Seriously, I'm not mocking anybody, I just don't get it.
@LifeGirl Playing through the PS4 port of FFVII now...the Best Bromance Trophy already did that, except you have to follow an online guide to navigate the game's hidden systems. This sounds like an improvement over that.
@SoulChimera Years ago, they had a policy relating to game size and release method which determined if a game got a full Platinum list or just the "PSN" selection you refer to. Those have almost gone extinct since they relaxed Plat requirements so much, such that it's really strange when a game does it (like The Pedestrian and Synth Riders on PS5).
This supposed policy change now does explain the BS of the Uncharted PS5 release, but I really can't imagine why they wanted to make such a change. Sony themselves pioneered multiple full Plats in a single release with PS2 game remasters on PS3. What could possibly cause such an absurd change in the rules?
@Lup Has it had any patches since the review went live? This remains the biggest issue to me about reviewing in general in the modern patch-filled age... it's generally really difficult to know when/if a game HAS been fixed, and the reviews remain a blemish on its reputation long after they're even accurate.
@FuriousMachine I played it on PS4 and it was basically intended for standing play, but I was able to make it work sitting. Haven't gotten around to comparing the PS5 version yet so IDK if it's at all improved. I am certain that roomscale would be ideal if you can do it, but at least it's not MANDATORY like What the Bat.
I still have a later-model PS3 hooked up, so PS2 is the one generation I'm (mostly) locked out of in my current setup. That makes it an easy vote. Sure I'd be willing to pay im the $20-$60 range if the support was worth the price. Shame this is such a massive hypothetical question though.
I'm quite happy with Maquette. No clue about Remnant as I've never heard of it and it apparently slipped under this site's radar. Already have Farpoint physical (with the gun no less). Will skip FFVIIR because I see no point when it can't upgrade to the PS5 version.
I've always been happiest when brand-new games are on Plus, so Maquette alone is enough to make me content honestly.
@KisekiFan7 I'm in Maryland...always thought of Kohl's as clothing first. Yes they do have some of that other stuff, but I wouldn't call it their main business. Either way, it's weird they would get PS5's when they're in short supply and other stores would be expected to get first crack.
@Octane They do have that, but cross-gen games still display oddly once you click into them.
I installed Miles Morales from a PS5 disc, then freaked out because it was displaying in my library as a PS4 game...with a weird lock symbol (presumably because I only own the PS5 version). It's super clunky, I really hope they fix it.
Yesterday, I did the time trials in Astro's Playroom about 20 minutes before a friend. He then proceeded to beat my times one by one and I got a notification pop-up for each and every one. Kind of annoying since I don't care about beating him, really. Have to look into muting those.
Considering how much multiplatform games that don't bother to remap buttons on Switch mess me up, I empathize with these poor Japanese gamers. B is not confirm to me, so I totally get why X isn't to them.
I just want clear confirmation that titles with a PS4 Pro mode will use it on PS5. I guess that will probably be the case especially with this vague news, but a definitive "yes" would be great.
I have REALLY missed Indies launching on Plus. Perfect way to GURANTEE we haven't already bought the game, increasing liklihood of value. But nooo...people complained for so long about a lack of AAA fare. Glad to have it back.
These had better be able to go a bit bigger than the Platinum headset. That thing burrows into the top of my skull at the largest settings far too quickly. I hate having a massive head.
There are tons of people who became loyal customers because of GCU complaining now...I really don't think Best Buy has a clue how much this decision is going to hurt them.
I stumbled across the eye distance setting shortly after getting my PSVR, and it made a big difference. That suggestion to turn it on a bit before playing sounds good too... condensation has been a problem for me as well because I sweat a lot.
Honestly, I could handle an increase in entrance fee IF they cut out all the bulldookie at the same time. But they won't because no-ceiling earnings beat an extra $10 per customer every time.
I find it interesting that they claim this review was written using a Switch copy purchased by Polygon...two days before launch. Is it really a good idea to openly admit to weaseling around street dates like that?
As I understand it, most publishers shrug off our pleas on sites like this as a vocal minority. What they forget is which group we're a minority of. They mistakenly think we're the loyal minority of a consumer base that doesn't want stuff...but we're really the minority of potential customers who care enough to nag. The more these people learn this, the better.
@sinalefa If it's anything like their other recent game release, the pictures are probably all their themes anyway. Only thing they learned was lower pricing.
No curation whatsoever will eventually destroy their reputation as a source of quality and make it significantly harder for the actual good stuff to get any attention...y'know, the same problems already rampant on Steam and mobile stores. I certainly haven't been bothering to simply browse new releases on PSN lately because of this crap, and that's no way to get me spending money now is it?
@glassmusic Even sone of the music in this trailer was JUST different enough from SotN to avoid legal trouble. The game does have a system that pretty much copies souls from Aria of Sorrow though, so he's working more than one Castlevania into it.
If this is successful, they DEFINITELY need to follow it up with a SNES collection including Goof Troop, Aladdin, and any number of great Mickey games. Definitely looking forward to this one as it is, anyway.
Tiny Troopers is a new release, eh? Well...I have no idea if it's any good, but I ALWAYS support Day-one Plus titles because at least we know we don't already own them (at least on PlayStation). Unlike Stories, which I bought on a sale a while back and haven't actually played. sigh
And VVVVVV on Vita? That's a fantastic game, so how can I complain about a chance to hit my head against its Trophies? Bring it on!
This selection doesn't really seem very much better or worse than another other of late, IMO. But if it's true that this is the second time Retro/Grade has been on Plus, that DOES go against their former promises and is a bit of a low blow.
Been watching the Game Grumps playthrough of this one recently...if it's cheap enough and a decent upgrade, I might consider it. If it's a direct port of an ugly early 360 game, it'll just be an embarrassment hitting PlayStation TEN YEARS late, though.
I already have EVERYTHING on this sale but Everybody's Gone to the Rapture and N++...and I don't particularly want either just now. But hey...this kind of sale is great for latecomers to the PS4. I guess it's just not really meant for the more hardcore fans.

Re: Throwback RPG Sea of Stars Gets Free, Game-Changing Update in November on PS5, PS4
Why change the prologue structure? I thought it was a really smart setup, giving the player a small taste of combat before the backstory kicks in.
Re: Lunar Remastered Collection Revives Two Classic 90s JRPGs on PS5, PS4 in Spring 2025
I've played the GBA and PSP reimaginings of the first game, but never the original version or its sequel. Nor the DS travesty, of course.

Games leaving already less than a month after service launch. Doesn't seem like a good way to build trust in said service.

I understood Night Trap...but they've been going deeper and deeper into the turd mountain of FMV and I have no idea why.
Re: PS5 Is Probably Telling You to Charge Your Controller Way Too Early
I had noticed that notification was popping up awfully fast lastly, and I've only been playing a PS4 game without the fancier features.

Field of view, no question. I hate feeling like I'm looking through binoculars all the time with PSVR.

Good on them announcing this in January. Plan this stuff out early to avoid unrealistic hype and hopefully crunch.
Re: PS Plus January 2021 PS5, PS4 Games Announced
Wow, I'm actually at least somewhat interested in ALL THREE games! Looks like a great month to me.
Re: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game Gets a Gig on PS4 in January
Needs a physical release so this doesn't happen all over again. Crazy to me they didn't announce one alongside the game.

Kohl's had PS5's? They're primarily a clothing store. How the hell did they get PS5's?
