Re: Synapse Looks Like a Superb PSVR2 Roguelite

TheDarkSide

@thefourfoldroot1 I mean, VR is a bit niche ATM and might stay that way for a good while yet, but those naysayers obviously can't have played the same games l have.
I'm bloomin' loving PSVR2 ATM. Great games available now and new ones being added to the pipeline all the time.
Colour me happy.

60fps for me.
I've been playing the 2018 game (at 60fps on PS5) in preparation for this... God Damn, it's still absolutely stunning! I'd be happy with more of the same. Can hardly wait.

... But I'll have to. My son has bagged it as a birthday present the day after launch, so he gets first go. 😭

Re: Voice Actress Laura Bailey Keen to Reprise Role in Potential Sequel to The Last of Us: Part II

TheDarkSide

@Bobobiwan I feel your pain. I started off hating part 2. Then I hated Abby. Then I hated myself for finding some empathy for Abby! 😵
Second playthrough was easier. I'd been made immune to the trauma by then. lol.

Actually agree with the recent article on here saying part 2 is the better game, but it'd be nothing without part 1.
The original though is, and always will be, something special.

Never been as profoundly affected by a game as I was by that.
Masterpiece. 👍

Re: Voice Actress Laura Bailey Keen to Reprise Role in Potential Sequel to The Last of Us: Part II

TheDarkSide

As a massive fan of both games I'd love to see it...... a bit.
TBH, unless they start afresh with new characters (and then it just wouldn't be TLOU) it's hard to see where they could take it.

A prequel of sorts showing those missing 20 years from the beginning of the first game would be a winner, but I imagine that would likely be covered by the upcoming series.
Maybe the series would provide something we haven't seen and could be a springboard for a new instalment of the game?

First two are gonna be a hard act to follow, no matter what.

Re: It's Happening! PSVR2 Games Can Now Be Wishlisted on PS Store

TheDarkSide

@dschons Absolutely, mate. VR was always the gaming dream and, as an older gamer, I honestly didn't think I'd see it in my lifetime. Not done so well at least.

Hell, even PS VR Worlds title screen blew me away first time I saw it. And don't get me started on Resi! Absolutely amazing!

Honestly can't wait, and I hope PSVR2 succeeds so we have years of great gaming experiences to look forward to. 👍

Re: It's Happening! PSVR2 Games Can Now Be Wishlisted on PS Store

TheDarkSide

@dschons Me too. VR pulled me out of a jaded phase I was going through years ago and I'm ridiculously excited to get my hands on PSVR2.

I keep emailing Amazon, 'Have you sent it? Is it on its way"?!!
They haven't, because I can't order it yet, but I just want them to know how badly I want it. 😂😂

.... I'm expecting to receive a restraining order any day now. 😂

Re: Hardware Review: Thrustmaster T248 Racing Wheel - A Great First Step for Curious Car Nuts

TheDarkSide

@SpaceDonkey I'd definitely recommend one, mate. Even as a budget option it ticks all the boxes. When you first see one it seems a bit cheap (there's a lot of velcro), but I've had mine for six months, it's used pretty much daily by three of us and it's as rock solid as the day it was bought.
Not up there with the more expensive offerings, but for the price it's fantastic.

Which wheel are you looking to use BTW? I'm on a G29 which stays permanently bolted to the Playseat (velcro strap holds the pedals onto the pedal deck, but they don't move) and I've had no issues whatsoever, even when using a lot of FFB.

Recommended. 👍

EDIT: Ask riceNpea for his opinion too (he's on this thread). I think he had a Playseat/G29 combo and, as someone I've known for years, I can vouch that he's a good 'un who won't steer you wrong.

Re: Resident Evil 2 (PS5) - A Cheap and Fairly Cheerful Upgrade

TheDarkSide

Playing at a (seemingly) locked 60fps without RT is my preferred option. Game still looks better than on PS4/Pro. 👍
Resi 7 holds up better with its RT. Lovely and smooth with some beautiful (well, as beautiful as the grotesque can be) lighting. And all with nary a blip or stutter.

Terrific games.

Re: PS5's DualSense Dubbed the Best Controller of All Time in Public Vote

TheDarkSide

Can't argue, it's a fantastic controller. Loved it as soon as I wrapped my cloven hooves around it, but what really makes me realise how good it is, is when you use another controller. Aside from its comfort, Dualsense compared to everything else just feels so..... Alive.
Inspired piece of design by Sony and my favourite controller ever (with DS4 in the runner up spot, followed by Xbox 360's still lovely pad).

Did once have to replace one of the tiny springs in the trigger though, but it's worked brilliantly since.

Re: All PS5 Games Running at 120 Frames-Per-Second

TheDarkSide

Nice for those who want it, but personally I'm loving how many 60fps games we're getting. A lovely sweet spot of smoothness and visual fidelity.
It is great (if somewhat limited) that this is an option on a console that can be had for as little as 360 quid though.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 Fans Fight Controversial Currency Nerfs with PS5, PS4 Farming Exploits

@thefourfoldroot From what I've seen so far (Completed the cafe part. About halfway through missions/license tests. Finished all championships) the super expensive cars aren't necessary. You should be OK for vehicle content.
As for the power/class stuff (referred to as PP in the game). You'll win many of the cars you need if you play through the cafe part first, and the cars are easily tunable to make them competitive for certain events where you don't have a car ready 'out of the box'.

I've had no probs thusfar. Got plenty of motors and just short of 3 million credits. I will say though that most of those credits were earned before the upgrade lowered the payouts. 👍
