This right here. PlayStation players buy games. Xbox gamers buy games to a far lesser degree and that's a problem Game Pass exacerbates. Microsoft painted themselves into a corner with Game Pass. I'm sure they would rather sell copies of games rather than give them away at no extra cost on a service that loses them lots of money (both in current revenue and potential revenue).

Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth might make an appearance, though it is strange it wasn't announced as a headliner. Are they trying to keep it a (poorly kept) secret? If it's not included, I expect a dedicated showcase right before it launches.

American here. I want to buy a Portal, but have yet to see one in stock. One day...

I was thinking the same thing. Haha.

It's a 10/10 game made even better than ever. People are free to like to it less than that, but that does not change the fact the game is an objective masterpiece.

I think it would be weird if Sony didn't have a State of Play for Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth specifically right before it launches. They did it for the previous game and tend to do it for all their biggest launches. It would also be weird to have another State of Play so soon, but after so much silence, they definitely need to up the cadence. Monthly sounds about right.

I figured PS5 would account for more than 2/3 of total sales. I'm a little surprised they sit at 2/3 in physical sales. It's surprising for multiple reasons:
1) The fan base is on PlayStation
2) There are twice as many PS5s out there than Xbox Series X|S
3) Microsoft has been training Xbox fans not to buy games.

I'm not sure if we'd ever get the full sales data breakdown, but I suspect it would be very interesting.

Yay! I'm excited for Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin, but neither as much as Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth. I expect another State of Play before that game launches.

I certainly like to hear news like this, but I would be really happy if PlayStation really leaned into East Asia and expanded with more Japanese and Chinese studios.

Tekken is my favorite fighting game series, but I tend to play mostly Mortal Kombat these days because my friends prefer that series. I intend to buy the complete edition of Tekken 8 when it's available.

Rebirth is going to be f'ing awesome. FFVII Remake and Final Fantasy XVI are my two favorite games in the Final Fantasy franchise and that is saying A LOT!

I tried out the demo and liked it. I'm too busy with other games now, but I will inevitably play this game in its entirety.

It is currently on PS+ Extra. I played it about a month ago and it was enjoyable.

Incredible game. I am a Supermassive fan. I am disappointed Sony and Supermassive's partnership didn't last longer or blossom into something more.

You're not going to get an internet browser because Sony knows Microsoft would try some Game Pass shenanigans with it.

This better not negatively affect Space Marine 2!!!

Helldivers 2 somehow looks even more fun than the first game, which is no easy feat.

Right. Lists like this are dumb, but they also show how crazy popular Call of Duty (undeservedly) is. Call of Duty games usually come out at the end of the year and rise to the top of the best sellers list for the whole year over far better games that come out a considerable number of months later.

I am excited for this game! When it is complete, I'll be all over it.

Considering how good 2K23 is, I have no doubt this will be good, too. I'm looking forward to it, but will likely wait for a price drop and a few patches (as I do with almost every game, but even more so with annualized games).

How convenient I have the official Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth TV paired with the official console! I can't wait to play this game.

It's always nice to see more Asian games come out of Sony.

I really like Killzone (and Resistance). I hope Sony revives some of their shooters now that they cannot reliably count on Call of Duty.

"Do the bare minimum of research before spending." I recommend doing more than the bare minimum, but the bare minimum research is a lot more than many do. It's sad, really, because voting responsibly with one's wallet is very important.

I am very happy to hear everything about this except who the director is. The Shazam movies were terribad.

This is the perfect explanation:

My sense is there’s an audience for this for whom the idea of a PS5 version is thrilling. I’m also speaking for myself. I’m excited we can bring this to the fans, and if it’s not for everyone, that’s fine."

Those double-speaking clowns at Microsoft probably view this as an open challenge.

I picked up Sonic Frontiers in a previous sale for $1 more than it is currently selling for in this sale. I wanted to like it, but just did not. I really liked when you were in the "levels," but the open world I found annoying. I fell off the map so many times trying to, you know, go fast.

You don't want to know. Most of it is people being idiots. There is some valid criticism out there, but there are a lot of folks upset there is a woman more jacked than they are. Plus, you play as a woman in the game and there is a trans person in it, so it's w0ke.

Take my $10 give me that game!!!

I will buy a copy eventually, but fighting games have trained me to wait a year or so for the complete experience at a reasonable price.

You are right about that, but none of those are part of PlayStation Studios. Hopefully, the second party relationships bear fruit and eventually PlayStation Studios expands further into Asia.

Come on, Sony. Expand PlayStation Studios with a TON more Asian support and get to work!

Yes, exactly. That's why the DICE Awards (and the BAFTA Game Awards) are so prestigious. They don't devolve into popularity contests and the people doing the nominating/voting are credible.

In this case, the professionals are game developers who had to release at least two games. Not journalists, not "influencers," and not fans. The people nominating and voting are the same folks who know how it's done and can respect the amount of work it takes to create a city like in Spider-Man 2 or crazy branching storylines like in Balder's Gate 3.

We do it to ourselves, sadly.

That's what happens when you have professionals do the nominations and voting instead of "influencers," gaming websites, and fans/trolls.

I want Sony to lean into Asian developers more. PlayStation Studios is very anemic in this regard and it shouldn't be. They have a lot of work still to do to offset Microsoft snatching Bethesda and then they have to counter Activision-Blizzard now, too.

This game looks incredible. I figuratively can't wait, but I also have to literally wait because I know there will be a super mega ultra deluxe edition in a year with all the characters at a discount and the game will be extra polished.

That looks very fun!
