@Overmind Fair enough. đ As a TR fan Iâm just a bit peeved at slogging through Legend with a vaseline finish (the emulated version looks terrible) when there will most likely be a remaster coming now anyway. Would have really been a piss take if I had paid the ÂŁ16 they were asking too! đŹ
@ATaco Certainly, if youâre a PC player. That obviously isnât an option on consoles though. What R* did on PC with this trilogy is shameful for sure but Iâm only really speaking about the console releases.
@Flaming_Kaiser Vice City is my favourite as well, and for what itâs worth I absolutely loved my time getting the 100% and platinum trophy on both the PS4 emulated version and the remastered version.
But yes, I do agree that it was a flawed product. Their first mistake being the hiring of the god-awful War Drum/Grove Street Games again after their first attempt at a San Andreas remaster (on PS3/360). I just feel it didnât deserve quite the amount of hate it got. What saddens me most is that any chance of the GTA Stories finally getting the spotlight they deserve with a release on modern platforms probably disappeared after that backlash.
@ButterySmooth30FPS Fair enough. I didnât have any problems as major as that during my playthroughs. Worst thing I experienced was that weird line across the middle of the screen on SA.
@Flaming_Kaiser Iâm not making excuses. I literally said there were problems. đ Rockstar are not saints and are certainly not in my good books these days. That said, players werenât fair either. The games simply were not âunplayableâ. That was my point. Sorry Iâm more balanced in my view and not just jumping on the âR* badâ train.
@ATaco They did, on PS4, and people moaned about those too. Truth is people just like to complain. The remasters obviously had issues at launch but no way were they ânot worth playingâ until now. It just became fashionable to hate on them.
@Kelrics90 Donât forget the collectables! Everybody wants them right? Theyâre even going for 1250 points now, equivalent of the old ÂŁ5 wallet top up. What a steal! (for Sony that is)
@ShaneReactions So would you say a âcolour schemeâ is negative? Yeah, if someone were âto schemeâ, they would most likely be nefarious but âa schemeâ is just a plan or programme. Though youâre probably right about it in the context of Sony. đ
Ah ok, so doubled checked the full Tomb Raider credits and yeah, Saber and Aspyr both have dev credits. I see the problem now because Saber arenât credited on the cover. We all knew Crystal did f- all though. Thatâs no surprise.
@McTwist I see what you mean, itâs a mess. The bulk of the development is by Core Design (and Eidos USA for the expansions) but they get no credit, then all the porting and remastering work (and publishing) is by Aspyr but theyâre part of Saber, and finally the IP is held by Crystal Dynamics. Oh and the latter three are all Embracer companies. Far too complicated.
Update: Found out Embracer have sold off Saber this year so Aspyr arenât part of Saber anymore. Jeez very complicated indeed. đ
@Decoy_Snake Itâs got to be Capcom holding out. Itâs only their classics that are like this. Probably donât want people buying these instead of the remakes (if they ever remake Dino Crisis that is).
Itâs rare but I wouldnât say itâs âunprecedentedâ. For example, Sony own the Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls IPs and licensed them back to Quantic Dream to release PC ports.
What is with these poll answers? âNope, it's overpriced nowâ and âNo, it was already too expensiveâ are literally the same thing reworded so are simply splitting the no vote.
@nessisonett Ah fair enough. Iâve not played the Indy ones but would be interested if re-released. There are plenty other Lego games though that are stuck on PS3 too which could benefit a remaster, especially over HP that is already playable on all the platforms this new version is releasing.
Ugh again. Yes they were great but could we not have had something else remastered instead? Iâd love a Lego Indiana Jones Collection for instance but not HP again and again.
Also, cue the PS5 version only having one platinum trophy in 3,2,1⌠đŤ˘
@Dragoon1994 Yes and no. His words at the time were âitâs a little premature to announce itâ, so to my mind that means it could have still fallen through as it was in the very early stages of development. Just happy itâs official now! đ
Finally! I remember reading about this last year over on Time Extension but it didnât seem set in stone at the time. So glad itâs for sure now! đ
Sea of Thieves launched on PS5 with 254 trophies which would be the largest for a single game in one go (its since had more trophies added up to 263). Tomb Raider I-III also launched with more at 269, however it could be argued that doesnât count as a single game.
@Northern_munkey No worries. Itâs just a weird quirk of the site. Sometimes the colour scheme will be themed to the game series featured, so GoW can be red, Horizon orange, Uncharted a grey-blue. Doesnât happen too often so itâs always a surprise to see. đ
@get2sammyb Chamber of Secrets PS2, Goblet of Fire PS2 and PSP, and Half-Blood Prince PS3 are all missing. You might want to add those so the âbest gamesâ list will make sense.
First Theme Hospital was updated for a modern audience with Two Point Hospital, now Theme Aquarium with this! Leaves only Theme Park to receive the same treatment now!
@thefourfoldroot1 Yeah, I would! đ In fact, when you boot up Folklore, itâs the Japan Studio logo that shows up first, then Game Republicâs. Definitely a trick question!
@ShogunRok Hmm the Folklore question was an iffy one since both Game Republic and Japan Studio actually worked on it! đ GR were the lead devs though granted.
@nessisonett In this case, itâs generally accepted the PSP version is the superior one. The PS2 port apparently added a load of bugs which werenât in the original PSP release, and it also removed a cutscene for some unknown strange reason.
The only ones Iâd be interested in would be the original game and itâs PSP sequel Bloodlines. Everything else (excluding DS and mobile) are already available for PS5.
Does this only count users tracked with their trophies? Sony themselves said Toy Story 2 was the most downloaded classic at one point (didnât have trophies until recently) so surely that one would still be in the top releases too?
Again, how does Square Enix still own this? Crystal Dynamics owned the IP when they were sold to SE. Why on Earth would SE want to keep an IP they have never used yet happy to ditch Tomb Raider. Itâs beyond bizarre.
Weird that Square kept this IP when selling the ex-Eidos studios to Embracer but not Tomb Raider. Still, I wouldnât credit it as âSquare Enixâs infamous 3D brawler seriesâ when theyâve never touched them. Both games were made by Core during the Eidos days.
@nessisonett Oh wow! You had to read that too? I thought we did it just because it was local interest or something. Fun fact: I actually used to live on the same street in Aberdeen where the author once lived. His blue plaque was a few doors down.
@nessisonett Well exactly! At least youâve got a lot on TV though. We have that god awful Granite Harbour and thatâs about it. đ
Yeah, Rockstar have studios in both Edinburgh and Dundee so theyâre on fire, plus GTA originated in Dundee of course along with Lemmings. Everybody seems to forget they were created by the same dev.
Got to be honest, Iâm a bit disappointed actually. Was really excited for Sly and TR Legend but the resolution on these is terrible. Iâve played quite a few of the PS1 and PSP classics, and the up-rendering on those really helped. The PS2 ones seem to have none of that. Legend is very blurry to the point itâs difficult to see in places. Can only hope these will be patched at some point to boost their resolution/definition.

@Overmind Even if a better version comes out next year? I mean nobody knows at this point so itâs just a âwhat ifâ anyway.
Re: PS Plus Premium's Legacy of Kain Classics Both Have Trophies on PS5, PS4
@Dragoon1994 Probably, which is why these two (and TR Legend) being emulated seems like a waste, but weâll see.
Re: 17 Games Land on PS Plus Extra, Premium Next Week
@DETfaninATL Sadly not. PS3 games are just streamed as is with no quality of life improvements.
