Re: Still Wakes the Deep (PS5) - Scottish Oil Rig Conjures Up the Horror Magic

@nessisonett Well exactly! At least you’ve got a lot on TV though. We have that god awful Granite Harbour and that’s about it. 😂

Yeah, Rockstar have studios in both Edinburgh and Dundee so they’re on fire, plus GTA originated in Dundee of course along with Lemmings. Everybody seems to forget they were created by the same dev.

Re: Hands On: They're Rough Around the Edges, But It's Awesome to Have PS2 Games Back on PS5, PS4

VeldinX

Got to be honest, I’m a bit disappointed actually. Was really excited for Sly and TR Legend but the resolution on these is terrible. I’ve played quite a few of the PS1 and PSP classics, and the up-rendering on those really helped. The PS2 ones seem to have none of that. Legend is very blurry to the point it’s difficult to see in places. Can only hope these will be patched at some point to boost their resolution/definition.

Re: Astro Bot Raises the Bar for Sony's PS Studios Intros on PS5

VeldinX

@PuppetMaster Exactly what I was thinking. It’s interesting that the monkey doesn’t seem to be a bot dressed up… could it be a tease for their next game? A new Ape Escape? Can only hope. I think I read somewhere that some of the devs who work on Astro come from the team within Japan Studio who worked on the old Ape Escapes.

Re: Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered Update Quietly Removes Sexy Lara Croft Pinups

VeldinX

To be fair, the way Lara was sexualised was against the original creators vision as well (Toby Gard apparently left over this issue) and it was probably the publisher who pushed it, “sex sells” and all that. That being said, I don’t think it’s right to censor and remove stuff like this. Maybe the pictures shouldn’t have been there in the first place but the fact is they were, so they should remain.

Re: Atari Revives Classic Video Game Brand Infogrames

VeldinX

@MetalGear_Yoshi They used to own the IP but Atari sold it to Ubisoft after Driver: Parallel Lines. They sold off their other most well known IP (Alone in the Dark) recently to THQ Nordic. Pretty much the only thing they still own of note that isn’t an Atari classic is RollerCoaster Tycoon and they’ve butchered that in recent years!

Re: Embracer Group Is Now Splitting into Three Separate Companies

VeldinX

Dumbest names I’ve ever heard, especially Middle Earth since it’s only licensed to them. What happens when the LoTR licence goes elsewhere? 🤦‍♂️ Probably should’ve gone with THQ for one, and Eidos for the other. Both have had strong brand recognition in the past and may have made people think of the original companies instead of this train wreck that’s just derailed and split in three!

Re: Sony Reportedly in Talks to Team Up for Paramount Bid

VeldinX

@nessisonett While I can’t disagree with the sentiment, Paramount (the incarnation you’re referring to) was already folded in long ago by Gulf+Western, Viacom, National Amusements etc. The incarnation I think this news piece is about is Paramount Global, the conglomerate formerly called ViacomCBS. But again, agree we don’t need more consolidation.
