I still believe the UK gov should never have ditched the decades-old familiar and trusted BBFC ratings on games for the weak PEGI system. Everyone in the UK knows the BBFC ratings as they’re on every DVD, at every cinema, on streaming apps etc. and they are legally binding. On the other hand, nobody takes the slightest notice of PEGI ratings.

Love Astro Bot but best for Accessibility features? No. It had like no customisation settings to tweak gameplay. It wasn’t good on that front.

Well only PS1, 2 and 5 don’t while PS3, 4, PSP and Vita do, and I think we can forgive 1&2 but to take away the option for 5. That’s a different story.

Well one memory of mine is getting that exact crystal green controller in the photo from the shops with my dad. It was my favourite one so I never let anyone else use it. Think I still have it in a box tucked away.

Yes! So this pretty much confirms an anniversary classics blowout. We usually only get 2 or 3 a month, so with these 3 just being an early preview, more will probably be announced on the usual third Wednesday of the month! 😍

@Major_Player Remember this is Sony Corp as the buyer here not SIE/PlayStation. They’re clearly after the other bits, the gaming stuff is probably just a bonus.

@Overmind Fair enough. 😊 As a TR fan I’m just a bit peeved at slogging through Legend with a vaseline finish (the emulated version looks terrible) when there will most likely be a remaster coming now anyway. Would have really been a piss take if I had paid the £16 they were asking too! 😬

@Dragoon1994 Probably, which is why these two (and TR Legend) being emulated seems like a waste, but we’ll see.

@DETfaninATL Sadly not. PS3 games are just streamed as is with no quality of life improvements.

@ATaco Certainly, if you’re a PC player. That obviously isn’t an option on consoles though. What R* did on PC with this trilogy is shameful for sure but I’m only really speaking about the console releases.

@Flaming_Kaiser Vice City is my favourite as well, and for what it’s worth I absolutely loved my time getting the 100% and platinum trophy on both the PS4 emulated version and the remastered version.

But yes, I do agree that it was a flawed product. Their first mistake being the hiring of the god-awful War Drum/Grove Street Games again after their first attempt at a San Andreas remaster (on PS3/360). I just feel it didn’t deserve quite the amount of hate it got. What saddens me most is that any chance of the GTA Stories finally getting the spotlight they deserve with a release on modern platforms probably disappeared after that backlash.

@ButterySmooth30FPS Fair enough. I didn’t have any problems as major as that during my playthroughs. Worst thing I experienced was that weird line across the middle of the screen on SA.

@Flaming_Kaiser I’m not making excuses. I literally said there were problems. 😂 Rockstar are not saints and are certainly not in my good books these days. That said, players weren’t fair either. The games simply were not “unplayable”. That was my point. Sorry I’m more balanced in my view and not just jumping on the “R* bad” train.

@ATaco They did, on PS4, and people moaned about those too. Truth is people just like to complain. The remasters obviously had issues at launch but no way were they “not worth playing” until now. It just became fashionable to hate on them.

@Kelrics90 Don’t forget the collectables! Everybody wants them right? They’re even going for 1250 points now, equivalent of the old £5 wallet top up. What a steal! (for Sony that is)

@ShaneReactions So would you say a “colour scheme” is negative? Yeah, if someone were “to scheme”, they would most likely be nefarious but “a scheme” is just a plan or programme. Though you’re probably right about it in the context of Sony. 😂

Ah ok, so doubled checked the full Tomb Raider credits and yeah, Saber and Aspyr both have dev credits. I see the problem now because Saber aren’t credited on the cover. We all knew Crystal did f- all though. That’s no surprise.

@McTwist I see what you mean, it’s a mess. The bulk of the development is by Core Design (and Eidos USA for the expansions) but they get no credit, then all the porting and remastering work (and publishing) is by Aspyr but they’re part of Saber, and finally the IP is held by Crystal Dynamics. Oh and the latter three are all Embracer companies. Far too complicated.

Update: Found out Embracer have sold off Saber this year so Aspyr aren’t part of Saber anymore. Jeez very complicated indeed. 😂

@Decoy_Snake It’s got to be Capcom holding out. It’s only their classics that are like this. Probably don’t want people buying these instead of the remakes (if they ever remake Dino Crisis that is).

It’s rare but I wouldn’t say it’s “unprecedented”. For example, Sony own the Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls IPs and licensed them back to Quantic Dream to release PC ports.

Aww I had hoped Rayman would be in the game as he was such an icon of the PS1 here (the best selling game in the UK). Definitely hope he gets added!

@nessisonett Ah fair enough. I’ve not played the Indy ones but would be interested if re-released. There are plenty other Lego games though that are stuck on PS3 too which could benefit a remaster, especially over HP that is already playable on all the platforms this new version is releasing.

Ugh again. Yes they were great but could we not have had something else remastered instead? I’d love a Lego Indiana Jones Collection for instance but not HP again and again.

Also, cue the PS5 version only having one platinum trophy in 3,2,1… 🫢

@Dragoon1994 Yes and no. His words at the time were “it’s a little premature to announce it”, so to my mind that means it could have still fallen through as it was in the very early stages of development. Just happy it’s official now! 😁

Finally! I remember reading about this last year over on Time Extension but it didn’t seem set in stone at the time. So glad it’s for sure now! 😁

Sea of Thieves launched on PS5 with 254 trophies which would be the largest for a single game in one go (its since had more trophies added up to 263). Tomb Raider I-III also launched with more at 269, however it could be argued that doesn’t count as a single game.

@Northern_munkey No worries. It’s just a weird quirk of the site. Sometimes the colour scheme will be themed to the game series featured, so GoW can be red, Horizon orange, Uncharted a grey-blue. Doesn’t happen too often so it’s always a surprise to see. 😂

@Northern_munkey Was it about God of War on PC by any chance? Concord articles are still blue, for example, even though they also have the PC tag.

First Theme Hospital was updated for a modern audience with Two Point Hospital, now Theme Aquarium with this! Leaves only Theme Park to receive the same treatment now!

This will be their second original game after their debut, Blast Factor. Granted, this is a little more large scale but still.

@nessisonett In this case, it’s generally accepted the PSP version is the superior one. The PS2 port apparently added a load of bugs which weren’t in the original PSP release, and it also removed a cutscene for some unknown strange reason.

The only ones I’d be interested in would be the original game and it’s PSP sequel Bloodlines. Everything else (excluding DS and mobile) are already available for PS5.

Why does Insominac need to do it? Sony holds the cards, they can get another team to remaster it.

Does this only count users tracked with their trophies? Sony themselves said Toy Story 2 was the most downloaded classic at one point (didn’t have trophies until recently) so surely that one would still be in the top releases too?
