Re: Reaction: Microsoft's E3 2018 Press Conference Was Killer for PS4 Owners

I mean, hard to argue with this article. Mostly multiplatform games on display which was great and I felt like the exclusives department was a bit lacking. Yeah they showed Halo teaser with no gameplay and no info whatsoever, additionally, Gears 5 and Horizon 4 - which are the same old franchises Microsoft relies on time and time again. There was nothing new or innovative from the first party studios.

Re: Talking Point: How Can Sony Win E3 2018?

Sony, if they show an extended gameplay for all 4 major titles with perhaps a release date for The Last of Us Part 2/Ghost of Tsushima, sprinkle Bloodborne 2 announcement, beta for Dreams this summer then it's a done deal.

Re: Why Not Watch Another 40 Minutes of Days Gone?

I'm sorry but I don't see anything wrong with sharing a couple of hours of gameplay from an open-world game. First of all, it plays rather slowly as the developers and commentators are trying best to explain every situation, mechanic and encounter. Moreover, it's not the first open world game that has done something similar (The Witcher 3 had extensive gameplay videos of quests that took as nearly as 30-40 min to complete).

Re: Sony Data Shows Digital Sales Continue to Grow on PS4

Physical for most games unless PSN sales are insanely good. I do like digital for the convenience but not owning the games is a big bummer for me. What happens in 10 years when they decide to shut down the store and you can't access your games? All that money down the drain. That's my major reason for buying physical, I'll have my disc 10-15 years from now, will you have access to your online game library then? That's a big question mark.

Re: Game of the Year 2017: Stephen's Personal Picks

Horizon as number one? Great pick! Same goes for me.

If I had to pick too 5 this year:

5. The Evil Within 2
4. Knack 2 (huge surprise, plus the soundtrack is incredible)
3. NieR: Automata
2. Nioh (as someone who never got into Souls games, I loved every second of it).
1. Horizon: Zero Dawn (+expansion)

I have yet to play Persona 5

Re: Microsoft May Bring First-Party Franchises to PlayStation in the Future

It’s not due to some drastic shift in the industry but more of Microsoft’s way of slowly moving away from the console business and focus more on software, which is not a bad thing. I highly doubt Sony will follow if/when this happens. They earn plenty on selling the PlayStation hardware and software (especially exclusives).

Re: Hob, Torchlight Developer Runic Games Is No More

@get2sammyb agreed. The closure is more to do with restructuring of the company and business models than anything else. Sales of course might have affected that but not as much as other factors.
It's definitely a loss, but we're talking about a very small company, I don't see why people equate that to a triple A studio closures.

It happens to a lot of indie developers, whether they're independent or a subsidiary of bigger companies.
