Re: Marvel's Avengers Is the Straw That Broke the Camel's Back with PS4 to PS5 Upgrades

AhabSpampurse

The amount of fuss people are making over this is ridiculous.

It's like the whole thing about people still being confused about which version of a game they'll be installing. There's button, RIGHT NEXT TO PLAY, that when you click it tells you which version you're going to be using. Is it as streamlined as Smart Delivery? No. Is it this impenetrable, dense, convoluted process that would challenge the average person? Apparently so.

I mean, we play games, right? We've been doing it for a while and having fun etc. Do we really need this much hand holding?

I suppose it's like George Carlin said... think of how stupid the average person is, and then realise that half of them are even more stupider than that.

But still, I despair.

Re: The Persistence Enhanced Respawns on PS5 This Year

@LordSteev I'm not sure. It's a solid roguelike, with a good narrative that explains and justifies the repeated changes on the decks.

So take any of your above standard roguelike's like Binding of Isaac, Hades etc, and the principles are similar.

This is slightly different though due to the FPS perspective, and survival horror elements. It's also a superb experience in both VR and on the normal telly.

Truth is I'm a sucker for roguelike games, and horror, so this was a sure thing for me. Pretty sure there's a demo on the store if you're keen though.

Happy days. I bought this just before Xmas and was pleasantly surprised with it. Better yet, there was an issue with the trophies not loading, and the team were happy and responsive in dealing with me (they eventually patched it) to resolve it.

Good people. Good game. Looking forward to shiny free upgrade. Win.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.06 Out Now on PS5, PS4, Promises Less Crashes on Consoles

Tbh I feel pretty bad for the people working this. They aren't the ones that decided the game get published when it did, and I'm presuming they're being worked pretty bloody hard now, right over the holiday period no less.

I guess there are some who are passionate and willing to do it, but then I'm also guessing there are others who have families waiting for them. It just seems like a raw deal is all.

Re: Soapbox: Having My PS5 Launch Day Nerfed By Amazon

AhabSpampurse

As someone who deals with complaints for a living, the £150 D&I (distress and inconvenience) is pretty high for a "level of service" complaint. I would be 99% sure that this is more than likely due to you being high profile i.e. a reporter for Push Square etc.

The problem now is that they've set a precedent that everyone else will expect.

Overall, the outcome is pretty dire, so I'm really, really sorry to hear you got shafted, Ant. I'd be inclined to have something formal from them though, and also find out who they're regulated by in terms of their complaint handling.

If you're unhappy with their "final position" regarding the raised concerns, you are 100% within your rights to escalate it to their regulator. If they then review your concerns and feel Amazon haven't dealt with you fairly, they will have the authority to overturn Amazons decision.

Re: Watch Dogs Legion - The Dullest Ubisoft Open-Worlder Yet

AhabSpampurse

@Caliburn08 there just seems to be a huge lack of imagination at the company when it comes to their key franchises... they all adopt a similar if not identical template, and rarely deviate from it. As a result their games often feel like a chore as opposed to fun.

I did really enjoy Watch Dogs 2 to be fair, after the sea of mediocrity that was the first. Still, the low reviews here make me a little disappointed.

Re: DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods - Part One - Much More of PS4's Best FPS

AhabSpampurse

@Omnistalgic you're not alone. I bought the ridiculous Collectors Edition for Eternal, and the whole buy-out has just left a bad taste in my mouth. I went from being hugely excited for the DLC to complete ambivalence. I mean, it's hard to get excited about the franchise now knowing that I may never get to play the inevitable sequel unless I buy an Xbox.

Re: Sony Won't Follow Game Pass Model on PS5, Doesn't Believe It's Sustainable

AhabSpampurse

I still don't really see the point of Game Pass. Maybe it's all psychological and I'm a bit broken. I've got a 12 month Ultimate subscription, so all those games are there. But considering I can dip and dive into any of them, I feel rarely inclined to bother. It almost feels like having them as free commodities cheapens their worth.

I recently bought Origami King, TLOU2 and Ghost of Tsushima, and considering I paid full price I felt way more inclined to finish them. Which I did. Meanwhile there's a lot of stuff on my X that has only been grazed over, as I've been fickle and just tried multiple titles. Maybe it's just me <shrugs>.

Re: Capcom Suggests Lacking Resident Evil 3 Sales Aren't All That Surprising

AhabSpampurse

@ArcadeHeroes I'm not disagreeing with your sentiments, but I think what @nessisonett is saying is that it's a bit hard to stomach paying £50+ for a game you could finish in a handful of hours. I say this because I share that view. It's one thing to say judge a game by its quality, but surely value forms part of that as well.

I've got no beef playing shorter games; I'm a huge fan of indies. But their price tag is usually appropriate whereas I'm not sure RE3's is.
