Re: Remedy Is Aiming for Excellence with Max Payne Remake

AinsleyE

Being playing the original Max Payne 1 and 2 over the last few days and they still hold up well, especially 2. I think 3 plays well, but it's missing the original's Remedy strangeness and I just think the writing is better. Hoping this does well and if Rockstar allows and Remedy wants to, they can do more with Max Payne in the future.

Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard (PS5) - The Best BioWare Game Since Mass Effect 3

AinsleyE

Still going to hold off until the general public has played the game. I went into DA:I expecting a return to form and was massively disappointed so even though the reviews are fairly well so far I'm still going to be cautious. If it does turn out to be the best Bioware game since Mass Effect 3 (which I had problems with but was overall enjoyable) then that would be nice, I just want some great storytelling for Dragon Age and Mass Effect. The biggest negative so far is the bloated side content, which was one of the many weak parts of Inquisition, so it's disappointing to hear it's still an issue with Veilguard.

Re: Dragon Quest Veterans on Dealing with 'Ridiculous Country' USA Amid Censorship Row

AinsleyE

Censorship is weird in general. Skimpy outfits need to be censored in the West and adult videos in Japan need to be pixelated even though in both cases everyone is likely to experience both of them in real life. It is what it is, different cultures, different histories. Would I prefer no censorship? Yes, but if companies think they can make more money by changing things like this, they will.

Re: Palworld Struck by Nintendo Lawsuit Days Prior to Predicted PS5 Reveal

AinsleyE

Nintendo shouldn't win this, game design shouldn't be patented and if it's the character designs that warrant the lawsuit, unless it's an exact copy I can't see them winning this. Look at the designs from Dragon Quest and then Pokemon, it's basically what Palworld has done. In the end though, it's Nintendo and the only thing they love more than making half-baked Pokemon games in recent years is lawsuits.

Re: PS5 Pro Announced, Costs $700 and Out in November

AinsleyE

Yeah, no. The difference in graphics and performance isn't enough for me to upgrade mid mid-gen and no disc drive is another negative. The price is a joke too. They should never release a console over £500, it's way too much. At that point, you might as well spend a bit extra to get a PC so £700 is nonsense.

Re: Preview: Metaphor: ReFantazio Won't Blow You Away in Its First Hour

AinsleyE

The marketing for this has been awful. It feels like it's getting no traction. I don't know if they are relying on it being an Atlus game to get people to buy it, but most people don't care about Atlus outside of Persona. Like, how many Persona players have played Shin Megami Tensei?

I think it will do better than Soul Hackers 2 since it looks like a better game but I don't think it will be the moderate hit it could have been. Hope I'm wrong.

Re: Video: Our Most Anticipated PS5 Games Of Late 2024

AinsleyE

Kingdom Come Deliverance II. Loved the first and can't wait for the second one. DA Veilguard I'm mixed on, though the re-reveal trailer sucked everything afterwards has been better. However, Inquisition was reviewed well, so I picked it up near launch and it was the worst in the series for me, so I'm going to hold off a month or two after release to see what my mates say about it.

Re: Preview: Ignore The Haters, Concord Is a Good PS5 Shooter We Can't Wait to Play More Of

AinsleyE

I don't care about Concord, not my type of game which is why I don't talk about it. But the people I know who enjoy this type of game say it's generic and forgettable and it shows. The number of people streaming and watching this was abysmal. If it's not interesting to the people who enjoy these types of games then who is it for? I hope it does well at launch but I've got a strong feeling that this will end up with more mass layoffs for the year.

Re: Classic GTA Game Now Part of PS Plus Extra on PS5, PS4

AinsleyE

@Dman10 DE is just the phone version with messed-up visuals. The best version of the game is either the PS2 original or emulation (which you can't get any more on PS4/5) or PC. If you want to play the best visual version it depends on what you like. I think DE is ugly and goes against the original art style but I'm sure some people like it, PS2 had some nice assets that weren't ported to other versions. PC is the best since the missing assets from the PS2 version can be modded in, and decent mods do what DE should have, by updating the graphics but keeping the same style.

Re: Rumour: Ubisoft Is Going All-In on Assassin's Creed with Black Flag Remake, Another Remake, Co-op Multiplayer Games, and More

AinsleyE

I said before, remaking Black Flag is a no brainer. Skull and Bones flopped so resuing that tech for a remake of a beloved AC game makes sense. The OG AC is the game that needs a remake the most. It could even be in the style of the later AC games since OG AC had pretty big areas, so if they can connect them all they could easily make it like the Origins type games which I'm not a big fan of but they are the most successful in the franchise.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Fallout 4's Next-Gen Version?

AinsleyE

I've come to the realisation when it comes to Bethesda games. I enjoy them for about 40 hours, then I get sick of it so I do the main quests and factions to get to the end. Every time I try to revisit any Bethesda game for another replay years later I get bored after a couple of hours. Something about their games where revisiting them just doesn't do anything for me.

Re: Older Live Service Titles Take Up Over 60% of Overall Playtime, Report Says

AinsleyE

Isn't this obvious though? The whole point of live service games is that they hook you for as long as possible, and if you are one of the earlier ones, you've got them already. The amount of time these types of games expect from players means at most you will be swapping between two or three live services and unless a new one does something incredibly different, why would you move on from the one you've invested the most in?

That's why when companies plan to launch multiple live service games it makes no sense since they are diluting their games by dividing the time players invest into multiple titles, which results in people being more fine with dropping a game after a certain amount of time. When that happens the funding slows down which in turn means less content, which results in more players dropping and the cycle continues until the game dies. It's like the MMOs from the early 2000s, you invest in the big ones and the rest tumble.
