Re: Poll: Do You Want Another Portable PlayStation?

Berto_Gamut

I'd get a new PSP2 if it had the power to play everything vita can, along with PS2 classics. But so much more would have to be done right, no proprietary memory cards and no worthless touchpad controls are a must.

Lol, PS5 having "more power" would mean a $500 console supporting 8K TVs that no one owns.

Re: Single Player Games Are Really Struggling Right Now

Berto_Gamut

I think they're focusing on too much raw sales data and not things like maintenance. Multiplayer games have entire teams dedicated to constantly updating and tweaking them.

Of course they'll become the "top selling" games, because they've successfully applied the mobile model to a $60 multiplayer game.
Want to get that lvl60 gun early? Pay me $4 and you can get that and so much more.

Nothing is really wrong with that, but it successfully turns the game into a constant revenue stream, something a singleplayer game can only compete against with DLC, which gamers get really angry about. But 50 different guns hidden behind lootcrates is just fine.

Re: Hands On: Monster Hunter: World Is Already a Game of the Year Candidate

Berto_Gamut

Great preview guys, I'm waiting for reviews before taking the plunge. PS+ expires around the same time, so that could get real pricey for me.

@th3solution Oh you'll spend lots of time in the menus when it comes to creating/tweaking armor, weapons, and hunting items. MH has always been about the super-grind, you'll be absolutely sick of killing each of these monsters if the drop-rates haven't changed.

Re: Feature: The PlayStation Store's Content Problem

Berto_Gamut

I feel their interface is the reason why visibility becomes a problem. There are a ton of unrelated ads, the search function is clunky, and the layouts change every couple of weeks.

Besides that, 10ton has gone a bit crazy with top-down shooters across smartphones/Vita/XBO/PS4. They're likely over-saturating the market and the well is running dry.

Re: Gamescom 2017: A New Pro PS4 Controller Has Been Announced

Berto_Gamut

Besides full button/trigger customization, this is far from Pro-grade. Useful paddle buttons are missing, replaced with.....LED color configuration??
The analog sticks should really match the DualShock layout if this is officially licensed.
And why in the hell is one stick concave while the other is convex, looks like thumbs will slip off the right-stick easily.

Re: Poll: Should Sony Allow EA Access on PS4?

Berto_Gamut

Simply put, it would help boost the PS+ subscriber base, something Sony could always use. It won't corrupt the system like some sort of parasite lol, it's just an option.

Sony doesn't allow it is because they want gamers to buy PSNow and PSVue subscriptions. I bring up PSVue because they hiked up the price and denied Hulu the chance to update their app for live-tv streaming on PS4.

Sony likes to keep their customers under thumb. We'll bring this up again when PS+ is $70 a year

Re: Gamescom 2017: There's Fresh Confusion Over PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds on PS4

Berto_Gamut

The maker of PUBG himself said they partnered with Microsoft so they can make the game better and ready for consoles. While it is some form of exclusivity, these guys are a small dev team and having Microsoft step in to show them the ropes is a good thing.

Besides that, Sony fans conveniently forget the cross-platform play debacle. Bluehole wants to add this to PUBG through a separate mode, Microsoft works on both PC and the XBO console, this will help Bluehole achieve that goal. Meanwhile, Sony doesn't want to play cross-platform ball with anyone...unless it's an exclusivity deal like SF5.

Re: Soapbox: PlayStation Plus Price Hike - Is It Justified?

Berto_Gamut

The justification is Sony wants more money and they know a 20% to 33% increase won't kick up too much crap...especially when Destiny2 is a little over a month away from release.

Personally, I'm done with PS+ and PSVue. Considering of the 60million+ PS4s sold, only about 26 million have active subscriptions....they better hope more PS4 owners don't follow suit. I'll be getting my online-focused games on either XBO or PC moving forward.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Thoughts on the PlayStation Plus Price Increase?

Berto_Gamut

It's absolutely lame. A price hike for a service that isn't very stable to begin with. But they know they could do it, over half the games releasing are going to have some sort of online component that's integral to enjoying the game. Destiny2 is a perfect example.

Problem is, they've sold over 60million PS4's and only about 24million are active subscribers. The well will run dry.
