Re: Ubisoft Responds to Assassin's Creed Shadows Criticism, Apologises to Japanese Players

Crimson_Ridley

Once again, a small group moan about something trivial, a game, and a company backs down and apologises. This is why the world is the way it is. "I'm offended so you need to do what I want".

If they want to the game to be representative of their culture, shouldn't the game also depict their views towards mental health that is still seen as a weakness in Japan, and families will often disown disabled family members or sufferers of mental health because it brings shame on their family?

Work on that before insisting that a game is made the way you want it to be made.

Re: Pornhub Reveals 2023's Most Popular Video Game Characters

To those saying that this is inappropriate, I'd argue that Chun Li being searched as Fortnite over Street Fighter speaks more to the demographic that is searching on the website. Fortnite is primarily marketed and played by a younger audience, and there is a very slim chance that younger people do not know about that website already.

People need to stop putting the onus on everyone else to shield people from things and make more of an effort to protect themselves and others from what they consider inappropriate. You can't cry foul that PushSquare published this article about 18+ content when the majority of PlayStation's first party studios create 18+ games.

Re: FromSoftware Still Can't Get the Frame Rate Right in Armored Core 6, PS5 Analysis Shows

@General_Disarray
In all fairness, you are posting in a public comment section. You can reply to someone, but anyone else is entitled to join that discussion, as I am demonstrating now.

Your comment had valid points, as did StylesT's. Telling them that it has nothing to do with them is not cohesive with a public comment section.

As for the topic, I much prefer a locked frame rate, be that 60 that should by now be the industry standard, or 30 if all else fails. A fluctuating frame rate can be awful and depending on the user can cause discomfort. If your engine can't keep a consistent frame rate, just lock it. I suppose that's easier said than done, as I have no idea how it actually works, but I'm going to tell them what to do anyway!

Re: Call of Duty: Vanguard's PS5, PS4 Perks Are a Bit Embarrassing

Crimson_Ridley

To be fair, this is a good thing. If you play on PlayStation, you get a few bonuses but it doesn't completely lock other players out of modes, like Cold War did. This is the most consumer-friendly way of doing marketing deals.

I own a PS5, but I play CoD on PC so I'm very happy that I'm not being forced to buy the PS5 version if I want to play the full game. I don't see a downside to this.

Re: Mass Effect 1 Has 'Gameplay Enhancements' in Mass Effect Legendary Edition

Crimson_Ridley

I believe this is partly why the game has taken so long to be remastered, because Mass Effect 1 has probably required a complete overhaul.

On the one hand, it's going to be great to play the game again with a feel more akin to Mass Effect 2, but on the other hand Mass Effect 1 has a lot of fans that prefer the style of gameplay is started with, and not the one it evolved in to in later entries.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 357

Crimson_Ridley

@Voltan I think I know which one you mean, Saint Faith in Hamtunscire?

I had a couple of treasure hoard locations glitch on me, so I had to exit the animus or change gender a couple of times to get them to work. If you've not already tried that, might be worth a go?

Can you attack the nun to see if it forces the game to get her to attack back?

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 357

@Voltan The fish were a pain in the arse. I found that they would never spawn if my longboat was nearby, so I had to keep fast travelling away, then making my way back to the coasts without the boat.

I also had to meditate a few times to get them to show up. There is definitely an issue with them that Ubisoft really need to look in to.

Which World Event has glitched?

Re: Poll: Did You Request a Cyberpunk 2077 Refund on PS5, PS4?

Crimson_Ridley

I bought it on PS4, and then Stadia for the free Premier Edition. The Stadia version is brilliant, but I'm not getting a refund on the PS4 version, as I'm quite happy to wait for it to be fixed, and if it doesn't, it doesn't.

I've wasted more money on food I didn't like, clothes I'll never wear, and people I hate. This is far from the worst thing to take money from my wallet.

Have you seen Chris? He's way more jacked than Abby, so I don't think a zombie could even make a dent. ๐Ÿ˜‚

@jmac1686
Oh, there's no doubt some people will demand changes. It's the popular thing to do. When Ubisoft are being forced to change a description of a character for using the term "disfigured", anything is possible.

Re: CD Projekt RED Responds to Cyberpunk 2077 Epilepsy Concerns

Crimson_Ridley

Did anyone else read through the EULA for the flavour text from the Night City native?

I don't know why, but I find it pretty cool that CD Project have even tried to make the legal stuff more interesting! ๐Ÿ˜‚

On the topic of epilepsy, I hope CDPR can make some changes to the colours and patterns used as soon as possible to minimise any discomfort and serious issues for their player base.

I wouldn't go as far to say they did this on purpose, but possibly didn't take extra care when designing them to make sure they were safe for everyone to enjoy.

For those of you with a condition, please stay safe if you play the game, and depending on the severity of your condition, take extra care if you can't wait for the changes before playing the game.

Re: Round Up: Cyberpunk 2077 Reviews Mark Another Epic RPG

Crimson_Ridley

@Jayofmaya Ghost of Tsushima.

I'm not too surprised to see some average reviews, the game has clearly been a struggle to develop, and for as good as CDPR are, I think it's a bit beyond their current limits.

I've ordered the game, and will be getting stuck in, but The Witcher 3 needed a few patches before it improved significantly, and this looks like it'll need a few more before it reaches a level that we can all be happy with.

At least we can close the book on the wait, and use the game as an example of how hype can really sour the experience of a game.

Re: Some PS5 Digital Editions Are Shipping with Blu-ray Drives

Crimson_Ridley

I don't know why, but my mind always jumps to skepticism when it comes to things like this. You could quite easily swap out the console, repackage it and open it again on video to "prove" they packaged the wrong console. Reddit karma and the chance of a viral tweet makes people go to great lengths. ๐Ÿ˜‚
