Re: Demon's Souls PS5 Doesn't Have Sixth Archstone, No Difficulty Modes

Crimson_Ridley

@armondo36 Practise makes perfect. A huge part of the reason the Souls series is beloved is because of the huge sense of accomplishment you get from progressing little by little. If you add an easier difficulty, it defeats the object of the game. They are designed to be tough, but not unfairly so.

The way I see it, if you entered a swimming race and the person next to you used a speedboat, what was the point of all that training? Sure, you'll be damn good at swimming, but that person won with no effort. With Souls, the effort you put in pays dividends and when you win, you earned it.

Re: The Japanese PS5 Launch Ad Actually Features Games

Crimson_Ridley

@koffing And it's all the better for it. 😂
@phil_j Two of them; Spider-man and Demon's Souls. 👍

Really liked this advert. There's nothing more important when advertising a console than games. Certainly, adverts like the Xbox birth-death one sticks in your mind like an advert should, but you always need games in there to show people what to expect from the console.

Those very brief seconds of Demon's Souls goes a long way to remind me that THE DAYS ARE GOING BY TOO DAMN SLOWLY! The 12th to the 19th are going to be the worst though. 😩

Re: Days Gone Gets Huge 25GB Update Ahead of PS5

Crimson_Ridley

@Revengercm In an ideal world, of course, but then when companies like CDProject decide to postpone a release while they work on getting it ready for all the consoles it'll release on, they get death threats. There's no way anyone can win.

Re: Days Gone Gets Huge 25GB Update Ahead of PS5

Crimson_Ridley

@thehappyaerithch I think you can safely say that about any game, they very rarely live up to the hype generated.

Days Gone started off pretty badly, but over the years after its release, a lot of work has been done to make it a worthwhile addition to the PlayStation line-up.

Re: Hands On: The Watch Dogs Legion Gimmick Can't Hide Tired Gameplay

Crimson_Ridley

I expected as much, and that's why I've paid no attention to the marketing of the game. Watch Dogs 1 was too bland, Watch Dogs 2 was full of irritating characters and a dull story, so I didn't have any hopes that Ubisoft would be able to pull off something brilliant with this one.

I'm more interested in reception to Valhalla, as I'm slowly becoming interested in Assassin's Creed again.

Re: PS5 Stand Solution Is Seriously Nifty

Crimson_Ridley

@Richnj I think that's because disc trays have historically been on the top of a console rather than the bottom. It's going to take a bit of adjustment for sure, but other than the 360, I've never had a console stood vertically. 😂

Re: Crash Bandicoot 4 Demo Out Now on PS4

Crimson_Ridley

Utterly ridiculous that you have to pre-order a game to try a demo to see if the game really is worth purchasing. The greed and business practices in the gaming industry still continues to surprise me, even though it's more expected than a PS5 price at this stage.

@Steel76 - Gotta get them clicks... 😩

Re: Round Up: What Was Announced at Ubisoft Forward?

Crimson_Ridley

@tameshiyaku I originally read "lit" as "it" and was immediately reminded of a Simpsons quote:
"I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me"

I suppose it still applies to Ubisoft. 😂

Re: How Well Do You Know Final Fantasy IX?

Crimson_Ridley

@ShogunRok
It was the 2nd trophy I unlocked! I had to learn the pattern, and where it changed and then pretty much closed my eyes and just kept the rhythm. If I watched the screen, I kept losing focus. 😂 After 300 jumps, it just stays at a constant tempo, so it's just a case of learning those first sections and getting the hang of when they occur. It's a lot easier to explain than actually do, but isn't too bad once you've spent enough time on it.

Re: Reaction: State of Play Continues to Find Its Way

Crimson_Ridley

@Grindagger
You are correct in your assessment. I was a little blindsided by people on YouTube constantly asking for things like a GTA VI announcement and other huge games when this SoP wasn't intended for those kinds of announcements.

I think there is room for both exciting SoPs and smaller, catered ones like this, that aren't meant for everyone. If they can strike a balance between the two, I think they could do well.

I appreciate your reply and counter-point and thank you for taking the time to write it.

Re: Reaction: State of Play Continues to Find Its Way

Crimson_Ridley

It was enjoyable to watch, and shed light on some games I weren't familiar with before, but interested in trying out when they release.

I also think they did a good job of letting people know what to expect, but unfortunately, you'll never please everyone.
Sony could have said "Look, we have 1 game to show and it's this" and people will still say "I was expecting more games, and they only showed one!" and then cry that it was rubbish. People are silly. 😂

Re: Talking Point: What Did You Think of the Latest State of Play Livestream?

Crimson_Ridley

It was pretty good. Sony communicated the contents of it very well, so people hopefully went in to it not expecting Earth-shattering reveals (let's face it, people don't listen, so many probably did).

There were some interesting games in there. I have yet to play Control, but I am a little disappointed that the DLC looks to be related to Alan Wake, when Remedy could just make another Alan Wake!

Godfall just doesn't do anything for me, and I usually like those sorts of games. I just don't think there's anything in it that says "This is PS5!", which a launch title should be aiming for.

The Hitman VR reveal was great, and I'm definitely interested in picking up VR again to give that a go!

I'm happy to see Braid again. I adored that game, but I do wonder why 13 years is an anniversary to celebrate?
