1. Lies of P 2. Alan Wake 2 3. Final Fantasy 16 4. Baldur's Gate 3 (Still have a ways to go but I can see where it still wouldn't be my top) 5. Remnant 2
Honorable Mentions: Wanted Dead, Dead Space Remake, Resident Evil Remake.
Then of course Alan Wake 2 some more. What a wild game! Baldurs Gate 3 on the side along with Sanabi on switch, which is an incredible game for the price.
@Mad001 Not what you are 100% looking for, but I know on PS5 that if you go into the menu and exit the game at any point in the level, when you load back up you are right where you left off. If you wanted to save scum and keep a save file you could theoretically do that
@Loamy that helps tremendously! I’m not a stranger to games people label “bad”. One of my favorites this year was Wanted Dead, which asked you to play a particular way to enjoy it. I loved it. So knowing those issues definitely helps me gear myself toward making a purchase on sale for it. I love the premise too, and can forgive a lot of aspects when a studio wants to punch above it’s weight.
@ApostateMage control 2 is already in the works if you didn’t know yet. I’m stoked for it and can only imagine Jesse will reprise the role of main character.
@Dalejrfanfreak interesting to hear you say that as I’ve done very little story content, but can already see how progressive and driven by modern politics they game is in side quests and even the visits to the Foundation. Feels as though they definitely wanted to make sure we all got the message.
@MagisterMagi where did you see that? One More Level made both games from my understanding. 505 published the first one and acted as publisher here too. Maybe I missed it somewhere though.
Played the PS5 demo and though it had been awhile since the first, something felt off; could not figure out why. Maybe this is what was bothering me. It felt like it was larger for the sake of larger and not as tight of an experience, or as fluid.
@Northern_munkey awesome to hear. I’ll probably snag it this week then. I’ve seen graphically where it looks gorgeous but I’ve heard so much about performance it seemed like it might be a wait to buy on sale option.
@Northern_munkey is it worth it? I’ve seen so much back and forth on performance but that all seems to be on the PC side of things. I’ve just finished Lies of P which was so well done I’m a bit concerned LOTF will feel like a budget game by comparison.
Finished Lies of P and started a NG+ run for the platinum. Easily my GOTY.
Also started Spider Man 2 and of course it’s brilliant in story so far and the evolving Arkham Style combat.
Otherwise I’ve debated picking up Baldurs Gate 3 but have reservations since I’m not a CRPG guy. Yet everyone seems to love it. So I don’t know. Convince me I suppose lol.
@atthegates not to be “that guy” lol but Remnant 2 and Immortals both ran on UE5, and having put 50 hours into Remnant 2, there were zero performance issues in that game. So hopefully they can hit that chord rather than LOTF
@Northern_munkey very much in the same boat. I just hit Chapter 9 and what a spike in enemy damage! It’s like a whole new game again. I wanted to do NG+ but Lords looks too tempting.
Wrapping up my GOTY Lies of P. Then I’m either going to check out Lords of the Fallen (May wait on more performance patches) or Forgive Me Father while I wait on Spider-Man 2 and Super Mario Wonder.
I expected between a 7-8 after seeing some of the previews. I’ll be enjoying this after Lies of P, which sits as my GOTY. Expecting a new team to nail the FromSoftware formula on the first go is a sign of the larger cultural plague of modern gamers (yes this is the same publisher but an entirely new dev studio under them).
@J2theEzzo they’ve since patched it on Lies of P. You now have better poise when pulling off certain attacks like Fable Arts. You’ll still receive damage but it won’t break your poise at all. They also made it easier to stagger tougher enemies so you break their poise with less attacks. I wouldn’t be surprised if they patch it one more time to give player better poise and better poise breaking ability.
I’m working my way through Lies of P. Halfway or there about and it’s probably my GOTY. It’s Sekiro Bloodborne and it’s own thing all at once.
Otherwise MK1 storyline and I may jump back into Armored Core 6 after the patch. Supposedly now the Zimmy Songbird OP build is no more. A shame as I was gonna blaze through NG+ and NG++ later.
Out of town with the kids for the week so I may finally finish TOTK on my switch.
Otherwise I have my backbone with me so maybe some Sea of Stars remotely, or if the connection holds up, Lies of P. What a brilliant souls like that is quickly becoming one of my favorite games beside Bloodborne and Elden Ring.
I'm all in for this, though I'd like DMC 6 as well. It looks like it could be fun, but I do wonder if I'll have a particular attachment to Dante's voice that I cannot shake.
I am all in on this despite any jank it may have, or rough around th edges gameplay. It looks fantastic, and some of my favorite games this year have been less than mainstream (looking at you Wanted Dead).
I remember reading somewhere that Titanfall 3 was a no go because the team didn't feel they could meaningfully top the 2nd game, which is why they moved on of their own accord. If anything, I sense this could spell some sort of crossover anniversary material for the hardcore.
Ugh, ok this sold me. I've got so much stuff I'd like to play, but I can't help it, Night City just won't let me go it seems. Guess I am headed back in!
Could have scored a 5 and I would be on board. The demo sold me, the atmosphere sold me, and I don't care about linearity, jank, or perfection in a game. I just want a solid experience and I expected this one to put forth that. This and Lords of the Fallen will be competing for my time once AC6 is done.
Well deserved and it makes me wonder what they expected. I always thought The Messenger had done well, but maybe that's within my own little microcosm of friends. Awesome to see such strong sales, and I wonder how much of that is or is not connected to Switch sales as well as price increase announcements with Sony encouraging people to buy it and drop their subs. Critical reviews also really help, and so does reputation of game. So many factors at play.
@Shepherd_Tallon I’m on the final stretch of TOTK. I don’t even mention it to people anymore because I tell them just assume I’m playing until I say otherwise lol. So I understand and feel that broken record comment!
Want to focus on wrapping up Remnant 2 after 30 hours. I’ll keep rerolling post campaign to gather other stuff and work toward the secret archon archetype. Otherwise small stuff: cursed to golf, gal guardians demon purge and participating in something for a game I will not speak about lol.
@REALAIS for me, two kids and lots of naps from my littlest one on my chest, I have used my backbone to finish entire games like Final Fantasy 1 or Nobody Saves the World. This would have been great to have a bigger screen, and since my wifi situation works well, I would enjoy pretty smooth streaming experiences while caring for them.
I imagine most Dark Souls folks will snub this as they often do in favor of FromSoftware, but I have high hopes for it.
We’ve been treated well to some enjoyable games in that “genre” with Steelrising, Thymesia, and 2D games like Blasphemous.
I’m picking this up Day 1 over others for the next few months and the only one I see rivaling it for my attention will be Lords of the Fallen, which also looks to bring some cool ideas of its own.
I continue to work on Remnant 2. What a game filled with secrets and reasons to keep playing. Lore is much deeper this time around or at least easier to find. I’m loving it even more than the first.
Otherwise I have some indies I’d like to start and get through. Gal Guardians Demon Purge or others
I may also give Tower of Fantasy another go. It’s free gacha garbage but I really enjoyed Genshin for awhile so I’m curious to put hours into Tower.
As a single player guy, I really would love to find a live service game that clicks with me, as it seems like everyone has their bread and butter they enjoy. This looks like it could be the one if gameplay and core loop hold up.
@wiiware that’s awesome you took down Tree Sentinel! He’s hinted to be optional since you can kind of blow right past him, but kudos to sticking with it. You’re in for an unforgettable journey!
Finished FF16! What a game. Might be my top this year. We shall see. Need to finish up the last few main quests of TOTK as I keep delaying it. But after 75 hours I think I’ll be done.
Otherwise after months finally new games. Remnant 2, Gal Guardians Demon Purge and others await!

Re: Poll: What Is Your PS5, PS4 Game of the Year 2023?
1. Lies of P
2. Alan Wake 2
3. Final Fantasy 16
4. Baldur's Gate 3 (Still have a ways to go but I can see where it still wouldn't be my top)
5. Remnant 2
Honorable Mentions: Wanted Dead, Dead Space Remake, Resident Evil Remake.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 505
Alan Wake 2 Platinum 117 this weekend.
Then some smaller titles. Maybe Gungrave Gore, Sanabi, Gal Guardians or something before hitting two big heavy hitters…..
Lords of the Fallen and BG3!
That’s all. Enjoy your weekend all!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 504
Platinum all wrapped up on Lies of P so this weekend is all about….
1. Alan Wake 2 and it’s platinum
2. Lords of the Fallen progress
3. Diving back into Baldurs Gate 3
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 503
It’s all about the platinum in Lies of P
Then of course Alan Wake 2 some more. What a wild game! Baldurs Gate 3 on the side along with Sanabi on switch, which is an incredible game for the price.
Re: Lies of P's Latest PS5, PS4 Update Adds Costumes and Makes Big Balancing Changes

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 502
Finished the Spidey Platinum and Alan Wake Remastered and then immediately dove into BG3. It’s awesome but I can’t play it in large swathes.
So I’ve picked up Sanabi on Switch and Alan Wake 2 because I am still all about being Alan at the moment.
Re: PlayStation Users to Be Considered 'Part of the Xbox Community', Says Xbox Boss
@Jacko11 I'm going to need to issue you a Stand DOWN with all that talk of modified Gamepass
People discount Colin a lot, but he knows his stuff after almost two decades in the space.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 501
@Loamy is quantum error fun or enjoyable or got some jank to it that still makes it a blast to play? I’m on the fence with that one!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 501
Wrapping up the platinum in Spider Man 2, then working on the platinum for my GOTY Lies of P!
I May finally crack open BG3 this weekend or dive straight into finishing Alan Wake Remastered so I can get AW2!
Enjoy the weekend everyone
Re: First Remnant 2 DLC The Awakened King Out 14th November
Incredible lore, incredible gameplay. Cannot wait. Behind Lies of P and maybe FF16 this has been the best game I’ve played this year
Re: Remedy Director Wants to Make 'Crazy, Huge-Budget, Dark Gothic Fantasy' Game Next
@ApostateMage control 2 is already in the works if you didn’t know yet. I’m stoked for it and can only imagine Jesse will reprise the role of main character.

@Marquez I guess I’ll have to just take the plunge since everyone says that. I’m open to CRPGs I just keep talking myself out of it!

Re: Swery65 and Suda51 Join Forces with Hack and Slash Action Game Hotel Barcelona
@__jamiie little delayed with my response but it’s so nice to see someone who enjoyed that for what it was too!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 495
Finished Armored Core 6 and immediately went into NG+
However, Lies of P has me sucked into the world. I’ve been struggling with Scrapped Watchman’s second phase for two days now. I will prevail!
Lastly MK1. What a grin on my face firing this up. I felt like I was back in the arcade for the first time in 30 years.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 494
Like a broken record it feels but I’m almost at the end of Armored Core 6, then I may speed run NG+ and even NG++ as much as possible.
Also wrapping up the final leg of TOTK which I took a break from. I also need to wrap up Remnant 2.
I’d love to get into MK and Lies of P this week.
Lastly Sea of Stars. Taking my time through it and loving it.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 493
@ear_wig I spent 20 mins grinding the wall mission boss to have enough money to buy most parts, then I just playing around until I found what worked.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 493
Armored Core 6. Highly satisfying as a puzzle game when you try to solve which pieces best fit which encounter haha.
Otherwise Sea of Stars, which is smartly designed and addictive in its combat loops.
Remnant 2 I’m at the end and keep rerolling other worlds for dungeon variants.
Lastly, I have a weird itch to play COD for the first time in probably 12 years so Modern Warfare 2 campaign is waiting on me.
Re: Sea of Stars Now at 250K Sales, Beats First Year Targets

@RaZieLDaNtE agreed! Discounts have saved me much more than strict purchases. Enjoy your weekend!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 492
An incredible weekend ahead here for me:
Armored Core 6
Wrap up Remnant 2
Sea of Stars
Wrap up TOTK
We are so spoiled in 2023.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 491

Finally about to say goodbye to FF16 and TOTK.
From here on out it’s all about Remnant 2
Oh and both Twisted Metal games as well!
