Re: Preview: Dead Island 2 Makes Up for Lost Time with Fun

looking forward to this. Good point about the looting. I really think the looting system is a gameplay mechanic that needs to be modernized. I suppose it's there for reasons like the change of pace but honestly I just find it annoying in most games. The Outer Words, Cyberpunk, Witcher, Dying Light 2, Division 2, it feels like all you are doing is looting all the time.
Surely there are other ways of doing this to make it less tedious. For example automatically scooping up loot, or pick up as 'junk' option like the Divison does, no weight limits or just for weapons.. etc etc

I enjoyed the last game but for some reason I very suddenly fell off it about 2/3 of the way through. Because its a skill based game tthat progressively gets harder but its balanced as you learn more enemy routines, I feel a huge barrier to pick it up again. Maybe I should just lower the difficulty untill my muscle memory for this game returns. I am curious how it ends

Re: Ghost of Tsushima Surpasses 9.73 Million Copies Sold on PS5, PS4

@KundaliniRising333 I agree with your sentiment of it being a very safe open worlder.

The game was objectively good, but not ground breaking in any regard. In my opinion comparible to Horizon; beautifull open world, fast flowing and decent combat, high production value, but very "by the books" in regard to it's side content.

I actually find Horizon the better of the two because the story was more suprising and it was carried by a more interesting and likeable protagonist.

But like I said it's still a good game and I can see why many people (perhaps with a higher tolerance for open worlders than you and I) like it so much.

Got totally hooked on Snowrunner. In many regards its what I consider an open world should be. Yes, many objectives and map markers, but the game forces you to really read the map and think of efficient ways to tackle the objectives. The gameplay really leans on the open map design.

I put on a podcast in the background and its just an ultimate relaxation game.

@Relygon I didnt like RDR2 that much either. But to be honest I did enjoy the start when everything felt fresh and full of possibilities.

Later on however I found the gameplay to be very repetitive and the story dragged on for way too long making the whole thing a chore. Combat was far too easy and very repetitive, the missions consisted of literally nothing more than shooting dozens of bad guys, and the hunting meant if you had killed one animal you knew the trick to do them all.. just my 2 cents

Re: PS5 Supply Issues a 'Top Priority' for Sony as It Aims to Overtake PS4 Again in 2024

Flurpsel

I got an invite to buy it directly through Sony, but I couldnt add a creditcard for reasons unknown so my order timed out lol..

To be honest Im not super bummed out about it. There arent a lot of games Im very interested in these days, also the higher prices from Sony, the industry's focus on stupid microtransactions and NFTs, and worse of all simply the quality and creative bankruptness of AAA gaming, is turning me off gaming lately. I play mostly racing games or games at least 5 or 6 years old (Witcher3, DOOM2016).

If this console shortage is going to take much longer I might not upgrade at all..

Re: Sony's Cloud Streamed PS3 Games Are Causing a Storm on Social Media

Flurpsel

@Wasted_Smuggler I agree, a 2nd hand PS3 is dirt cheap. Whats holding people back?

PS4 games are much more relevant today so I can understand wanting back compat on those. But for the niche that want PS3 games you can just buy a PS3 right? I dont expect my new TV to play videotapes either. If I really want that I buy a VCR from some vintage store.

Re: PS Plus, PS Now Merged Service Revealed, Goes Live in June

Flurpsel

PS Plus Extra sounds a bit ridiculous but I can understand PS Plus is such a brand name now you don't want to get rid of it.

Disappointing it doesnt come with a price cut for Plus Essential, or extra content. It feels like I'm now paying the same money for an 'essential' service while this used to be a 'Plus' service giving you all kinds of extra's.
