Can I ask what you mean by 'In-game cutscenes are rough'? Is this something unique to the PS5 version because I didn't personally notice any issues with what I played of the PS4 version.
I bought Yakuza in the Xmas sale and put 15 hours into it before deciding to wait for the PS5 version. Maybe I'm just a masochist but I'm looking forward to playing those 15 hours again
Also, I enjoyed Avengers for about 3-4 weeks on release (put 70-something hours into it) but apart from the Kate Bishop and Hawkeye stories, I doubt I'll be playing the PS5 version for long.
Carrying on replaying Persona 5 Royal in preparation for Strikers. Got less than a week to finish and I'm at the start of December. Should be pretty easy to do I think.
Oh and I'm also continuing Nioh 2 now that the PS5 version is here.
With these two games it's like the beginning of the March 2020 lock down all over again.
Also it's looking like a great week with Ys IX, the Nioh games on PS5 and both the PS5 version of Control and Destruction Allstars on PS+. Where do I even start?
I haven't had any issues with trophies so far but I have had several challenges that wouldn't register and the river bridge exit in Dartmoor still won't show up as an exit.
@JeffWhiff Royal adds a third semester (the base game ends around Xmas time and does some time skips to the end of the school year), a couple of new confidants (one being a party member and romance), not to mention a ton of small changes throughout the entire game to everyday stuff, combat etc.
On paper it seems like it might not be worth a full release but all told it really does change the game in subtle but brilliant ways. The third semester alone adds about 30-40 hours.
A large portion of its music was admittedly part of the original release in 2017 but my favourite soundtrack for this year is still Persona 5 Royal. Both the old and new stuff is just incredible. One of my favourite soundtracks of all time.
I was a little surprised when the bow suddenly offered some resistance but that's pretty much the only thing I've noticed. There should be more resistance when performing heavy attacks, for example.
@Crowley22g I haven't used rest mode at all on my PS5. Been cold booting since day one because I didn't want to risk the rest mode issues (are they even fixed yet? Haven't heard a word for a while). Still get the crashes though.
It does run pretty well on PS5, apart from the bugs, but the crashing issue is starting to annoy me. As someone who always opts for stealth, having the game crash and send you back about 5 minutes is too much. Of course, I only recently realised you can quicksave so that helps, but I'm still considering shelving it and going back to Valhalla until the crashing gets patched.
Just started downloading while I was playing. Thought to myself "I'll close and download this before continuing" only to realise its almost 18gig. Bloody hell.
I got my physical copy yesterday and in ~6 hours of play it has crashed twice. Was annoying but until I lose any significant progress I can cope with a crash every now and then.
I'm confused - are there some PS4 games whose saves don't work via backwards compatibility? I just assumed that if the game works, the save automatically will.
I like it but the games I've primarily been playing haven't really been making use of its features too well (Assassin's Creed Valhalla and now Watch Dogs Legion). Astro's Playroom was a great example of its potential but I can't make an informed decision on whether or not its better than the DS4 just yet.
I will say though, the DS4 did seem to fit my hands much better and felt slightly more comfortable. That may just be because I'm not used to it yet.
This is great but I think I'll hold off for now. This is one game where I'm looking forward to getting the plat again, so I don't want any auto-popping trophies
I have Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs and Miles Morales Ultimate Edition all preordered, but add to that the free upgrades for Borderlands 3, Maneater and obviously Bugsnax from PS+.
Personally the haptic feedback isn't a big deal but I'm glad the adaptive triggers can be disabled. I have constant hand pains of varying degrees so I'm glad that I can opt out of struggling with the triggers when it's at its worst. I hoped we'd be able to disable certain things because Sony have been pretty good when it comes to accessibility in their games recently, so I'm glad to have it confirmed.
Doesn't look too awful but I was hoping the military stuff wouldn't continue much once they were transported into the MH world. Unfortunately though it looks like it probably goes on throughout the whole movie.
If one game needed the PS5 it's this. Haven't played it for ages but the framerate and pop-in on a base PS4 is beyond awful. Borderline unplayable. Not that I have any plans to ever play it again.
I'll admit that the change is a little disappointing but only because I've played the entire PS4 game with the old face - I was used to it. However, I don't get why its such a huge issue because the moment we play the remaster or the inevitable sequel (maybe even a small role in Miles Morales) we'll just get used to this face as well. It's not like he doesn't spend 99% of the game with a full mask on.
I was really enjoying playing it again... until I encountered a bug where the background of the local map is gone. Difficult to explore when the map is just a black screen so I've put it on hold until it hopefully gets patched.
I'm still getting a PS5, that isn't in doubt but if Bethesda's games do indeed become exclusive I'll no doubt buy a Series S/X in a few years, when there are enough new titles from Bethesda, Obsidian, inXile to warrant it.
I'm very much just waiting, hoping but not expecting much. With the amount of people preordering I'm guessing that unless you ordered in the first 10 minutes, you may have to wait for a second, third or maybe even fourth batch of consoles.
Been wishing for this for years but rumours have always been just that. At this point I'll just expect it to release alongside Dragon's Dogma and Splinter Cell sequels.
Immortals looks good, PoP looks... ok but nowhere near what I'd expect of a full remake, and Watch Dogs was the usual stuff we've seen already (apart from the Stormzy stuff of course). Having said that, Ubi will never satisfy me until they start to give Sam Fisher the respect he deserves instead of pimping him out to all of their other IPs.
Good review. I couldn't agree more on the scoring system. Having to make 3-4 fully charged special shots before you even have a chance at scoring is too much. Also that "aerial soccer" match was kind of bull**** for me because the cutscene where the opposition scored came when they didn't even have possession of the ball. Its a fun game, especially when things are going your way, but there are some systems that are too much like rolling a dice and they can ruin it a little imo.
Even if it was a basic port with barely any improvements, this would still be a day 1 purchase. Played it on both PC and PS3 and loved every minute. Definitely one of the most underrated games of last gen imo.

@nessisonett Nice one. I got the base soundtrack on CD shortly after the 2017 release but I'd love to get both on vinyl. Thanks

Do you get credits from the base 6 heroes' passes though? If so you could technically save those for it and not pay a penny... I hope so anyway.
