I'm actually enjoying the game. The exploration aspect is as enjoyable as it was in Fallout 4 but I didn't think anything could be more dull than that games quests and characters. Well Bethesda managed to lower that bar even further. I just hope the future is brighter than the release because at the moment, this game probably isn't going to last.
Against my better judgement I bought Fallout 76 on release day and actually I'm kind of enjoying it. Obviously it has nothing on a true Fallout sequel as the quests alone just aren't up to scratch, and the lack of NPCs and the usual conversations and interactions just aren't there. Having said that I'm still really enjoying exploring the world. How long it'll last I don't know but for now that's enough.
It's nice to know that there's a company who are willing to buy up and put old unwanted series to better use.
A few years back I thought Darksiders, one of my fave series, was dead and buried and here we are, 2 weeks from a new release. If it wasn't for Nordic and their current approach, so many beloved series' would have been put in a vault by their owners and left to rot.
@get2sammyb I'm just worried that with MS's record, they may end up closing anyway. Like I said, MS have cancelled or disappointed with a fair share of their exclusives in recent years so if they put Obsidian and Ninja Theory to good use, great, I'm up for branching out to include Xbox in my living room next gen, but I'm just worried of what could happen to some of my fave developers.
This is a travesty. Obsidian are, imo, the Kings of characterisation in RPGs and now they've been swallowed up by a company whose recent record with first party games has been either cancellation or simple disappointment.
I didn't like RDRedemption even though I love the sequel. I found the first to be incredibly dull but the slow pace is one of the reasons I've fallen in love with the new one. Maybe my dislike of John influenced my enjoyment of the first whereas I'm finding Arthur to be a really likeable lead. I don't even like John in this.
This is such a well timed announcement. Somehow I doubt this news would have come had Diablo 4 actually been announced at Blizzcon, but now that everyone's salty about the mobile Diablo (me included) this is fantastic.
I hold the unpopular opinion that the first RDRedemption is one of the most overrated and boring games ever so I'm surprised at how much I've loved playing this. If it wasn't for God of War it would certainly be in the running for GotY.
I can't remember ever playing a game where I've been so happy to just stroll around at the slowest walking/riding speed, simply enjoying the environments and everything the game has to offer.
This is pretty much a summing up of my own thoughts, especially the pointlessness of VATs and the way the games story is fed to you. One of the main things I felt though was an immense sense of loneliness. I mean I know that Fallout is based in a wasteland and that there are other players, but the lack of any NPCs or notable story made the beta feel so incredibly empty. During my relatively small amount of time spent with the beta it seemed so impersonal and devoid of life or purpose.
One of my main WoW characters names is very similar to the Uvenk part of Gatatog Uvenk from Mass Effect 2 (the Krogan who disagrees with Grunt taking part in the rite). My old guild started using it as a bit of a nickname but due to Uvenk being a bit of a jerk to ol' Grunt I decided to adopt the clan name instead. I've been using it on almost everything for 8 years now.
Still slowly working my way through AC Odyssey. I'm also considering starting another playthrough of The Evil Within 2 for those Halloween feels. I love that game. So underrated but so brilliant.
@AFCC May be technical issues revolving around the rewards or the systems that differentiate who and who isn't eligible for them. I don't see why, since so many of their games already have this kind of event but who knows.
This is great to hear but it's definitely coming out at a less than ideal time. I still have AC Odyssey to work through, RDR2 is next week and God knows what other numerous titles planned for next month. One to stick on my wishlist for now but I'm really looking forward to putting a ton of hours in with Kilik in the future.
This could be good news. I mean weren't all the Origins events aimed at players who were around max level? Since I'm nowhere near that I may have had to pass on this anyway.
@TeslaChippie That is a good point. I haven't really played one for a fair few years but no matter what I think of the repetitive nature of it being on a yearly release schedule, they are still great shooters mechanically.
@Cutmastavictory Yeah, I have a seasonal character on the go but I love going back to the Crusader I've been playing since the day it released on PS4. I know if I take her online, it'll just mess things up in some way. Is seasonal hacker free? Have Blizz implemented a way to keep them away from that? I'd love to go online with my seasonal character if that is indeed the case.
This is good news for those who want to play it with friends on other consoles but I've heard enough about people hacking the PS4 version to know I have no intention of ever going online with it again.
I've encountered it once in over 30 hours. Had to restart the game to fix it. Other than that the experience has been flawless. Have to admit though, I'm kinda crappy at noticing technical issues unless they're major framerate dips or enormous amounts of lag.
"We don't want fans to worry about us ditching traditional singleplayer games... so here are 2 future games you won't know a single detail about for possibly years". That makes sense, how?
I don't mind paying for the earlier access to the game if it's for a version of a game I was getting anyway (I'd have bought the gold edition of AC: Odyssey even if I still had to wait for Friday), however it is a practice that does kind of stink. I mean seriously, if the game is there and ready for release, why push it's date back an extra 3 days just so you can try and squeeze some extra cash out of those wanting a standard edition? Buying the normal version of a game shouldn't come with a penalty other than simply not coming with the season pass or whatever.
Can't wait for AC: Odyssey tonight. Counting down the hours until it unlocks. Other than that, depending on the price, I'm interested in the Resonance of Fate remaster. It's one of those games that has been on my radar for years but I never got around to.
Also, I really want to be excited for RDR2 because the Wild West setting really appeals to me. However, my dislike of GTA5 and the fact that I haven't enjoyed a Rockstar game since Vice City, paired with me finding RDR1 to be insanely boring (unpopular opinion alert) have me worried that it may end up being a wasted purchase. Usually I'd wait for reviews but who am I kidding, like there will be any negative ones. Release is 4 days before my birthday so I may just take the plunge and hope it turns out to be a worthy gift to myself.
For me it'll be a weekend of WoW, Dragon Quest XI, trying some gambit on Destiny 2 and possibly some Shadow of the Tomb Raider, if I can force myself to play it.
One thing that would seal the deal for me is the option to download the PS3 titles on my PS3. I didn't get my PS3 until very late in the gen so I'd love to be able to use this to catch up on some of the games I didn't get a chance to play.
Unfortunately, seeing as the console is pretty much dead now, I very much doubt Sony would be willing to go back to the PS3 firmware and enable that option.
I'm making my way through it now and I hate to say it, after how much I enjoyed the previous 2, but I'm feeling incredibly underwhelmed. I like the new focus on exploration but everything else just feels lacking. I really enjoyed the start and it seemed like it was developing a dynamic between Lara and Jonah where he was kind of a balancing influence, when it came to her obsession with Trinity. However the further I get into the game the more Jonah seems to get pushed into the background.
I'm too crap to be able to earn any more challenge tokens in Spider-Man. The only trophy I need for that plat is to buy all the suits but without enough challenge tokens, I'm moving on to Tomb Raider for now.
Also playing some more Destiny 2. Almost finished Warmind.
I played a bit too much Spider-Man yesterday so for today I think I'm going to let it rest. I have an overwhelming urge to boot it up - it's soooo good afterall - but I don't want it to be over so soon. As such I'll most likely be back on Warhammer 40k: Inquisitor - Martyr, trying to get my Psyker to level 50, and playing a bit of Destiny 2 to see how the game is before deciding whether or not I want to give in and get Forsaken.
One of my fave games of last gen. Sure, it was heavily flawed in terms of gameplay but damn it had a good story and characterisation. Obsidian are the masters of rough diamonds.
One thing not mentioned is that your skills are determined by the weapon you equip. The only class with unique, interchangable abilities is the psyker, which imo makes it the most versatile choice, and also the most fun.
Also, despite the fact that I've been absolutely loving the game, this review pretty much hits the nail on the head. It does have some clumsy mechanics and there are a fair share of flaws but I think that if you're a fan of the 40k universe, there'll be more than enough here to keep you invested. Despite some of its shortcomings I also think its an ambitious attempt at making a game that feels true to the feel of 40k.
Warhammer 40k: Inquisitor - Martyr though tbh most of my August was spent on the PC with the new WoW expansion. Between that and Martyr, I haven't really had the time to properly dig into games like Guacamelee 2 or Divinity: OS2.
I'm still absolutely loving Warhammer 40k: Inquisitor - Martyr. I had Divinity: Original Sin 2 preordered for a while but everytime I boot up my PS4 I can't resist playing Martyr instead. Soooo good.
I'm still engrossed in the new World of Warcraft expansion so that's taking up most of my time. However the past couple of days has also seen me playing Warhammer 40k: Inquisitor - Martyr (bloody hell, what a title). So far it's everything I could have hoped for, and we've been waiting long enough for a decent videogame based in the universe (other than Space Marine).

Considering the amount of fixes it needs I'll expect another 51GB patch, lol.

I've been sucked into RDR2 so much that even AC Odyssey isn't getting a look in. Doubt anything else will be in my schedule this weekend.

I think I'm just going to have a lie down. I just witnessed my horse die for the first time (guess the game) and it was rather traumatic.
Re: Guide: Red Dead Redemption 2 - How Long Does It Take to Beat?
In my opinion the first RDRedemption had one of the best examples of videogame poker, so 50 hours of my playtime will probably be spent in that alone
