They increased the price of the service, removed the PS3 and Vita games (which often gave PS4 versions through crossplay) and give seemingly nothing more back to us. I mean Modern Warfare Remastered and The Witness are getting on now so I doubt they really provide any extra value than the usual PS4 offerings. Giving us maybe one extra PS4 game or some other bonus or reward would surely balance the scales a bit.
Oh wow, I didn't even realise the whole separate eyes things until you mentioned it. Now it looks even worse. Now I'm just waiting for news of a human love interest.
Back to FFXIV for me this weekend. Both Red and White Mage are so close to max level. I might jump back into Anthem's endgame and also might start a replay of DMC4. Never need an excuse to replay a DMC game but in this case I could really do with getting back into the feeling of the combat.
People were mad when Arkham Knight had a £35 season pass, nevermind £73. I mean seriously, for the game and that one single pass you'd end up paying almost 3x the cost of what some places are selling the game for. Ridiculous.
I've really enjoyed making my way through the story, but there are definitely things holding it back. For one, the conversations at the Fort get really tedious and kill the momentum from the awesome combat.
Also, now that I've reached the endgame all I can say is: what we're Bioware smoking when they promised that this part of the game would be great? It's like I've hit a brick wall. There's no real motivation to do the contracts, the disappointing amount of Strongholds and the whole grind in general is so unrewarding. I was really enjoying the game but now I find that I've suddenly stopped having the urge to boot it up and drifted back to FFXIV instead. Even the great combat struggles to make the endgame meaningful.
Seriously, I haven't actually watched a single proper trailer for the game. I've seen one short piece of gameplay for Nero and one for V, that's all. If ever there was a game I was guaranteed to get day one, just from the name, this was it. After 10 years, I just hope it was worth the wait.
There were rumours of a Fallout 3 remaster last year, before 76 was announced. Also considering the fact that FO3 just had its 10th anniversary at the end of the year, the 10 to 1 countdown would make some sense.
I'd prefer a New Vegas remaster, since it's a vastly superior game, but FO3 would still be awesome.
It's all about Anthem for me this weekend. Say what you want but I'm enjoying it immensely. Sure, there are rough edges but they aren't stopping me from having a lot of fun.
So far I'm absolutely loving it. I've seen some reviews say it gets more repetitive and boring as it goes on, so I'm kinda keeping my expectations in check until I get further. However, I've spent God knows how many hours playing my Diablo 3 Crusader without ever changing out her skills so repetition has never really been an issue for me.
I just hope that it manages to hold a playerbase for the future. If I carry on enjoying it as much as I am now I can see myself coming back to it a lot but for that it needs to succeed at least to some degree, as a service game.
Loving Metro Exodus. I came to the series as a STALKER fan so this more open, explorable environment really feels like the STALKER sequel I've spent 10 years dreaming of.
Looking forward to Metro Exodus but FC New Dawn is definitely one to look at reviews/wait for a sale. Wasn't a huge fan of FC5, despite loving 3 and 4.
Finally finished all the story content for FFXIV's Heavensward expansion so now I'm moving on to Stormblood. No idea why I stopped playing this game for like 2 years - it's awesome.
I can't seem to pull myself away from Final Fantasy XIV at the moment. Started levelling a White Mage and loving my first go at healing in the game so it's all I seem to be doing atm.
If I can drag myself off it I'll be spending some time on the Anthem demo and some more Ace Combat 7.
@get2sammyb They must be reconsidering the deal with EA at this point. I mean seriously, how many years have they had the licence and all they've done is the 2 Battlefronts. Disney likes money way too much to let the opportunity go on being wasted like this much longer.
This weekend I'm taking a bit of a break from Divinity: Original Sin 2 and starting Dragon Quest Heroes; the newest addition to my library from the PSN sale.
Great list but if I'm completely honest I'm incredibly surprised to see Shadow of the Tomb Raider anywhere near the top 10. Obviously it's just my opinion but I found it boring and the story was so uninteresting.
It has been a great year for games though. Some real classics in this lot.
After a slow and slightly boring beginning I'm hooked on Divinity: Original Sin 2. The story and characters keep getting more and more interesting and I can't wait to see what happens next.
I started Divinity: Original Sin 2 a couple of days ago so probably that. I also picked up Soul Calibur 6 which I've been wanting since release and I'm currently loving it. Kilik <3
I'm playing a bit of ESO while the New Life event is on. Also trying to finish the boring Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Only a few missions to go so I'll continue on if only to be able to scratch it off my list. After that I have no idea.
Anyway, Happy Holidays to everyone at Push Square, both the site's staff and its visitors. Have a good one.
More RDR2 for me. Feels like I'm nearing the end of Arthur's story which is simultaneously both exciting and slightly depressing. On top of that I'm playing Vermintide 2 which is a lot of fun (when I'm not fighting against server disconnections and crashes; needs a patch or 2).
@carlos82 OK yeah, the CEO saying something like that is incredibly messed up and worrying. I don't know, maybe I'm just an idiot but like I said, I want to believe that, with the economic differences between GTAO and RDO and the fact that they've already accepted that they needed to rebalanced it, I'm hoping they can hold off from requiring RDO to just be another cash cow.
@AdamNovice Now this is an opinion I can understand and it's an opinion I shared considering the state of RDOs economy when the beta launched and how the inflation in GTAO made more recent additions insanely difficult to pay for unless you bought the currency. I guess the optimistic part of me sees them using a separate currency for RDO rather than GTAs all encompassing $ and hopes that the gold bars will just serve as a way for people with less time to skip to the good stuff, and those of us who play normally will be able to get everything through normal play (though hopefully without insane amounts of grinding). I'm kinda hoping that the changes they've implemented to the economy already are also a sign that they're more open to making it a little fairer than the insane prices for GTAs better stuff. I could just be kidding myself and they could just end up being as greedy but hey.
@Flaming_Kaiser If you don't like it, that's fine, not everyone has to agree with it. Hell, even I don't agree with splashing out £100 on just in-game currency. However, it doesn't change the fact that those microtransactions help with development and maintenance costs. Why do you think MMOs had subscription fees for so many years before being filled up with cosmetic optional purchases?
I'm not going to defend the joke of an economy the beta started with or the current prices for stuff in GTA Online but seriously, whether Rockstar have a ton of money or not they are a business and they're not going to keep RD Online's servers running without a longterm way for the players to help fund them. Expecting Rockstar to maintain and continue to build an online game for nothing is ridiculous.
I'll be jumping into the closed alpha of Anthem. Also some more RDR2 and for some reason I have an urge to replay God of War. Could it be that its the best game in years? Hmm, possibly
Like you said, it just looks like a post-nuke Far Cry. Since it's obviously a spin-off I wasn't really expecting anything drastically new but it doesn't look anywhere near as inventive as Blood Dragon or Primal. Just looks like Far Cry 5 with a bit of Rage 2's silliness injected into it. Since I haven't even finished FC5 I can't say I'm finding myself at all interested.
The other nominees are great games but in my opinion nothing has been able to top God of War this year. Such a phenomenal experience and a more than worthy winner.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have a sudden urge to replay it
@glassmusic I understand mate and I wasn't trying to make fun of the people who worked to QA test the game, just suggesting that Bethesda should have given those testers a little more time.
Finally finished the story in Ni No Kuni 2 last night so along with some Darksiders 3 I think I'll be working on some of the post-game stuff for the plat.
Still looking forward to it but how can you promise a games release and then delay it by like 3 months just a few weeks later? A little shortsighted of them.
Glad to see we might get one final Obsidian game on PS4 (other than PoE2 of course). I expect it to show up on Playstation anyway, due to this suggesting its been in production before the MS purchase.
Not sure yet. It's a toss up between Hitman 2, RDR2 and maybe revisiting some unfinished stuff like Banner Saga or Ni No Kuni 2.
One thing I certainly won't be playing is Fallout 76. Given up on that until it gets some patches that actually work. I was enjoying it somewhat but there are better games requiring my attention.
Just a quick correction: the games install was around 50-ishGB before the patch and post patch it hasn't risen to 100GB - it's 52.15GB. Seems that, like the enormous day 1 patch, it just replaces most of what was already there.

@ShogunRok I had that with Rythe. I left it for a few missions and when I came back to her it worked fine. Pain in the backside though.
