Re: Sony Shares First Look at PS Plus Extra, Premium Games

GorosBat

This is so mehhhhhh, looks just like they've gone with the generic titles everyone expects. I was hoping for JRPGs for ps1, but nothing is grabbing me, I played all the main ps4 exclusives I wanted to play already so nothing here is screaming I need to subscribe to this service. I'm probably never going to subscribe to this honestly as I'd prefer to own games instead of having an active membership to keep playing the games I want to go back to. Netflix of video games just doesn't work like tv and movies do, I'd rather pay full price for the games I want at launch and then get the other games I decide to wait for at good deals and never worry about a stupid membership running out.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 426

GorosBat

No time to type much this week:
Octopath Traveller PC: Bought it on switch but never picked it up for whatever reason, I got it on sale and got the best version of the game, don't know how it is on xbox but not ps4 yet (weird)

DQ 11 S PC: The pc version saves this games visuals of the switch port, 4k and turning anti-aliasing off gets me the visuals of the original ps4 version and then some, very nice😎

Rogue legacy 2: 14 hours in and I'm addicted, enough said it will now be in rotation for the next 3 years !

Re: Elden Ring Sold More Than 13.4 Million Copies in Its First Five Weeks

GorosBat

@TheArt I did do 98% of everything, my map was completely uncovered finding every sign of grace(looked up the map to get the few I missed), I got all achievements for every boss, unlocked all requirements for every ending, only thing I missed was a specific dungeon where there is a machine that one shots you. I did 2/3 of that same dungeon type and couldn't be bothered doing the last one. Only other thing I missed was getting the last legendary weapon for the achievement which was missable and I couldn't be bothered ng+ing the game to get it. No offence mate, you're just slow, I beat the majority of the content when spirit echo was OP and beat most bosses in 1st or 2nd try bar some of the late game bosses. You can't exactly say someone didn't stop to smell the roses when they've put in 100+ hours into a game, at a certain point I got burnt out with the game because I consumed the game so fast, but that's my choice and how I played, as time is a finite thing. I'm not criticizing your playstyle, but your point of view is in a vacuum and I see many people online who critical the main story in about 60 hours completely blind. For reference, it took me about 20 hours to scour everything in each area and if I only went for the legacy dungeons it would have easily been half that for each area.

Re: Elden Ring Sold More Than 13.4 Million Copies in Its First Five Weeks

GorosBat

@TheArt I only used guides for the Ranni questline purely because there were parts of the map that I couldn't find a way to access as I'd rather spend my time doing the actual content of the game instead of searching for a needle in a haystack, figuring where I have to go in a massive open world to deliver a potion to a character without being given any direction for finding said character. Would have helped if there was a questlog, considering how obtuse these Sidequests are. I probably explored 98% of all the areas in 116 hours playtime, but I'd imagine someone very competent in these games could do it in 90-100 hours.

Re: Elden Ring Sold More Than 13.4 Million Copies in Its First Five Weeks

GorosBat

@__jamiie I think the more time after the release, the more others will have the same sentiment. I played and beat the game 116 hours and no I don't think the game is a masterpiece, the game has a lot of issues in terms of balancing and performance at launch although not cyperpunk levels with bugs, had considerable issues with framerate (not sure how much patches have helped with it since I beat it). Not a masterpiece and certainly not going in my personal top 10 or even 20 but still a fantastic game, 9/10 for me.

Re: Elden Ring Sold More Than 13.4 Million Copies in Its First Five Weeks

GorosBat

Congrats to From for the well deserved success! Anyone else want From Software to try a new genre for once? I like what they do, but they've done the same gameplay type since 2009. Imagine a From Software horror or actual turn based JRPG like SMT 5, now that's something I'd be hyped for (I'd still take Bloodborne 2 any day though).

Re: Reminder: Last Chance to Add Persona 5 to Your Library Through PS Plus Collection

GorosBat

@Jayslow Me too, I didn't have the right personas for the fight so I had to resort to going back to the real world, shamefully using one of the DLC personas I think it was around lvl 60 just to beat that boss, I genuinely tested to see if the enemies infinitely respawn and sadly they do.... I literally had no issue with difficulty for the entire game as I fight every enemy I see, I played completely blind so I didn't know I needed aoe and from what I remember the super big enemies in that fight didn't have any elemental weakness (not to any element I had at least). After that boss, I made it my mission to get power leveled for the royal content after the main story, so once I was about lvl 70 I headed to the subway to fight the reaper and got my characters to the mid-90s. If P5R ever gets a PC release I'm 100% going to put the game on easy, find the reaper and get levels high enough to beat that boss without a problem and reset difficulty back to normal. Game is still a masterpiece though and the section so miniscule that it doesn't take anything away from the game. I still marvel over the fact that the game is 150 hours long with no filler and repeating content, kinda crazy!

Re: Rumour: BioWare May Have Just Confirmed the Return of Commander Shepard in the New Mass Effect

GorosBat

@WallyWest I LOVE going renegade male Shepard as honestly the majority of the choices that are Renagede - not curing the genophage are the most logical in the grand scheme of things when you take into account of saving the galaxy. I like changing it up for squad members depending on each character, for example I always go paragon with Tali. Even if I'm going paragon in Mass Effect 2 I can never NOT electrocute the eclipse aircraft engineer or NOT push the mercenary off the buildingin the Thane loyalty mission. But, back to the ending, after completing absolutely everything in Mass Effect Legendary Edition, 110 hour playthrough on Legendary completing every possible thing with all the DLC, learning the origination of the Reapers in the Leviathan DLC going through every dialogue option with the leviathan, you will find out the true nature of the Reapers. They do this "cycle" 1000s of times no matter what, even if there is a civilisation that can beat them they will overthrow them with deceit, making there no way to control or assimilate with them, as the "assimilate option" is a lie. So the only real option no matter how you play your Shepard should always be "Destroy" and will always be the cannon ending if you take into account all the information you're given throughout the trilogy.

Re: Rumour: BioWare May Have Just Confirmed the Return of Commander Shepard in the New Mass Effect

GorosBat

@Shinnok789 I'm shore they will make some zany reason for it, maybe cryo sleep? I'm sure one of the species would have the technology to create that. Even when they found Shepard's body it would have fallen from space, so we'd be in a Mass Effect 2 situation, but the Lazarus project and Cerberus records would have probably been wiped by the end of Mass Effect 3. So from my perspective it would take years, even decades to redevelop a way to bring Shepard back again. It took The Illusive Man countless resources and research, him being the most powerful man in the universe to bring back Shepard. So presuming "The Council" being the council we all know and hate for never doing anything (sounds like real life politicians). They'd probably have 1000 ethical issues in bringing him back unless it was absolutely necessary and I'm guessing this threat will be the reason for him coming back and the beginning of a new Mass Effect Trilogy. Talking about these theories only has me more hyped!

Re: Rumour: BioWare May Have Just Confirmed the Return of Commander Shepard in the New Mass Effect

GorosBat

@WallyWest It is the most logical ending out of the three TBH. The other two only work in favour of the reapers. Assimilate and control ending would only end in the reapers ending the "cycle". In the "Assimilate" ending there is evidence that past civilisation tried to do the same option but inevitably failed and in the "Control" ending nobody could possibly believe that the reapers could actually be controlled. The creators of the Reapers were the first race they enslaved and turned into their main reaper ships and the bulk of their fleets, so sadly Destroy is the only plausible option, yes they'd lose the majority of reaper technology but, like the whole trilogy is based around it is about survival.

Re: Rumour: BioWare May Have Just Confirmed the Return of Commander Shepard in the New Mass Effect

GorosBat

I thought it was obvious we'd be returning with Shepard, one of the first art pieces was of Liara and a few other squad mates walking towards a Mako like vehicle. Also in the best possible ending of ME3 the "destroy ending" the final post credit cutscene is of them searching through the wreckage of the weapon to destroy the reapers and we clearly hear Shepard breathing. Shepard is the lifeblood of the Mass Effect series and Andromeda was proof of that. A great example from another series would be Halo 5, you spend the majority of that game NOT playing as Master Chief and look how that turned out, it was the worst in the series. Always stick with your routes Mass Effect, unless you can actually make a protagonist on par or greater than Shepard which is a tall order.

Re: Slick Action RPG Thymesia Plagues PS5 This August

GorosBat

No offence to the game but I've had my fill of Elden Ring, I always enjoy Souls-likes but generally once I beat them I don't want to play anything similar as I get burnt out on the formula every time I beat one since Dark Souls in 2011, I then go cold turkey until the next one comes out. Game look cool though!

Re: Returnal Celebrates a Year Since PS5 Release

GorosBat

@OptionalStealth Don't go for the platinum unless you're a trophy w****, I know this game is a Roguelite but the game has terrible replay value as in there is a lack of builds that actually change the way you play the game. I remember once I found my preferred weapon, the big heavy machine gun or the basic assault rifle I'd literally only go for those weapons as if its not broke don't fix it. There being no permanent upgrades that make the game easier isn't good. My favourite Roguelites, Slay the Spire and Hades both give you the power fantasy of being super strong and upgrades that incentivise you to keep replaying them. They both also give you the ability to take on greater challenges if you so desire that.

What I do encourage you to do is to at least go for the true ending on a second playthrough if you haven't already which is worth it. If you truly want to go for the platinum I suggest using the tactic of running through every corridor that you can and DON'T fight anything, just make sure to find every room in each level. The main thing you're looking for is to find a room that you haven't seen before, I know there're many rooms but the more times you go through each stage the more familiar you'll be with everything and know what rooms to search for that last blasted scout log.

Re: Returnal Celebrates a Year Since PS5 Release

GorosBat

What a throwback to the time when I had a working ps5😪 I was in the top 50 achievers of the platinum at the time. I remember the crazy theories of obtaining the final message log in the 1st biome (made a pretty famous post on psnprofiles about it). Great game but the platinum experience ruined the game for me bringing it from a 9/10 to 6/10 at the time, looking back I wish I hadn't went for the plat as I'm guessing the patches probably solved the ability to find some of the collectibles. But I was under the belief from the reviews that the game was 35-50 hours to beat and was sorely butthurt after realising that you should never pick up the negative parasites ever if you want to be successful and beat the game in 11 hours in my 1st run through. Take it from the standpoint of I payed $125 for the game as Australia sucks and you could obviously see why I was mad with the game. Took me 40 hours for the plat so I spent about 30/40 hours looking for stupid collectibles while the game is trying to kill you. Factor in low replayability and I wish I could go back in time to tell myself to not go for the plat as the actual game design and immersive sounds and environments are tantalising, the 3d audio headphones are a must for this game making my ears ORGASM!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 424

GorosBat

@ItsATM My first foray into the series was Atelier Lulua, look back at why TF did I start with the 4th entry in its ark, I know I only bought it because it was the latest release at the time but me playing Rorona for the first time makes me question what I was smoking. Now once I eventually return to it in let's be honest 3 years as I like playing games in order and 9 games between me and revisiting the game that started the franchise for me, I will actually understand the throwbacks and get a richer experience with Lulua the second time round. Honestly the series is so chill compared to other JRPGs and refreshing that anyone can hop in even if it is like the second or third entry in the ark. The feeling of the series is wholly unique in the sense that the narratives don't have high stakes where the world is ending like in almost every other JRPG. That and the heavy focus on crafting which I don't see in most games period is what drew me into the series to begin with!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 424

GorosBat

So I bought the first 3 trilogies of the Atelier Series this week, that was a lot of money out of the bank account, but they almost never go on sale and for some reason Koei Tecmo values these games as much as Nintendo and their first party games as I got each game for about AU$30 each, 9 games(although I already had one of them so 8), don't do the math please😭😭😭 I haven't splurged on games this much in a long time so I couldn't resist and I'd rather stock up on RPG's as and not wait a full year for the games to get to this price again. The more I'm typing the more I'm trying to justify a stupid yet worth it purchase😂😂😂

Anyways, I'm playing more Monster Hunter Rise, I've picked up the Bow and have fallen in love and have spent all my time crafting new builds all week, still can't believe how enraptured with this game I am, 200 hours in now and the more I play it the more hyped I get for Sunbreak at the end of June.

I played and beat Toem this week, I bought it in a bundle as my general rule with bundles now is don't buy it unless the games in it are worth the amount that I'd pay for the games I already wanted and the leftover or games I'm not sure I will like come as a bonus. This game is basically a photography game mixed with exploration in small interconnected environments. The premise of the games' progression you need to do tasks to help out characters or taking a picture of a particular object or animal to collect enough stamps to get a free bus ride to travel to the next location. Rinse and repeat 5 times for about 5 hours and you have a very satisfying gameplay loop at an extremely relaxed pace and good vibes. This is a hard recommend from me and recommend if you can find it in a good sale.

I also uninstalled League of Legends for the 30th time so good for me ( this is the time I quit for good I swear😪). Anyways, as always thanks for reading and have a good week next week😊😊😊

Re: Tales of Arise Tops an Impressive 2 Million Sales

GorosBat

Am I the only one who wasn't so hot on this game? The story was meh, all the characters were boring (-hootle) and the combat was so unbalanced, I literally had to set the game to the easiest difficulty because every enemy was a massive bullet sponge, yet even on that they still took forever to kill. I've never quit a game 60 hours in still waiting for it to be good. I think the tales series just isn't for me, only other one I played was Berseria, which I beat but only for the skits and story in that one, gameplay was a chore. Guess nothing holds a T to the Ys series in terms of gameplay in the Action RPG Genre, I do enjoy the combat in the Nier and recent FF games aswell just seems like I absolutely hate bullet spongey enemies period when there is no reason for them to be in the game aside from padding out a games artificial length (which I hate).

Even so, I'm happy for the people who enjoyed this game and the greater success the series has now received

Re: Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection Seemingly Swinging onto PC in June

GorosBat

@TheCollector316 Amen to that! it's such an headache whenever I see that happen, especially with Square Enix, they just love grabbing the money bag for some of their releases, it's just plain annoying because they are all timed exclusives, the only games we don't know if they will go to steam are kingdom hearts which I'm not personally batting an eye for but I can see that others would.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 423

GorosBat

After playing the first season of The walking dead it has rekindled my love for the series so I've started to marathon the show rewatching all season, which I haven't done before. Apart from that I might play some Monster Hunter Rise here and there, still collecting monster crowns, I've completed 18/43 so far, it takes an amount of time that tests my patience but the dopamine I get when I find the largest or smallest version of a monster is insurmountable. Wish me luck, next monster on the list is Barioth!

My other game which has been on permanent rotation ever since it was in early access is Slay the Spire, specifically the Downfall mod which is a fan made expansion which adds a new character, "The Hermitt" which I've been trying out and also a the "Downfall Mode" which allows you to play as EVERY boss in the base game. All I can say is this mod has more content than the actual game itself which is incredible, so anyone on pc should really check this out, it is a separate download so you don't need to worry about it screwing with the game, the only prerequisite is owning the base game. Wish there was some way this mod could come to consoles as it is the definitive way to experience Slay the Spire (400+ hours played).

Thanks for reading and have a good week next week😊😊😊

Re: Video: How Telltale Nailed The Walking Dead's Opening Scene

GorosBat

What a coincidence, I just played and beat the first season a day ago and wow this game just hits hard, especially in episode 3 my gawwddd. Can't wait to get into season 2 on the weekend because season 1 reminded me of why I love this franchise and is making me want to rewatch the tv show after falling off it after season 9.

Re: Poll: As God of War Turns Four, What Would You Rate It Today?

GorosBat

I played it in 2018 (I know it was a reboot but they really should have called it GO4 as people who played all the others get so much more out of it than those going blind in this series) and thought it was a masterpiece, I played it in 2021 after playing through and obtaining the platinum of every other entry in a row and still think it's a masterpiece. My current tier list of the games are as follows:
S: God of War (2018), God of war 3
A: God of War 2, Ghost of Sparta
B: God of War Ascension
C:God of War (O.G)
F:Chains of Olympus

God of War is my favourite Playstation exclusive series, as I played through them all in a span of a month, I just couldn't get enough. I think God of War 2018 is an absolute masterpiece and has the best platinum experience out of all the games in the series (screw the trials in God of War 1, completely RNG reliant and BS and you have to beat all 10 in one gaming session) minus the area that drains your health constantly in that mist area! I beat the Valkyrie Queen on my literal first try and don't understand why so many people had so much trouble with her, she's literally a rehash of all the other Valkyries and only has 1 new attack from my remembrance, my main tip is to be patient and learn when you can get hits in when it is safe and block and dodge when needed, mind you by the time I got to GOW 2018 I was a hardened veteran of the series. If anyone is on the ropes for trying the OG style of combat, God of War 3 is by far the best and most refined overall, as you get multiple weapons and get to kill all the big boy Greek Gods.

Edit: Also has the best axe in all of gaming, a charged R2 attack into a Draugr or ripping the Warewolves in half with an execution just feels😱 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱

Re: New PC Software Lets You Update the DualSense Controller Without a PS5

GorosBat

Now just get every PC developer to have native Dualsense controller support by default and now we're talking. It's annoying how many games on PC only have xbox buttons, doesn't really matter to me though as my dualsense started getting stick drift so I just play with my Elite Series 2 controller instead, goes to say the quality of the dualsense isn't really the best as I've seen alot more complaints about defects more so than the dualshock 4 ever did. I've owned 5 Dualshock 4's and not a single one had an issue. Anyone else had an issue with the ps5 controller charging cable that came with it, literally have to wiggle it around for 2 minutes just to get it to charge and even then I can't so much as touch the controller or it won't charge? I hope quality for this controller improves and more games get the dualsense rumble features as I'd prefer to use a playstation controller for HZD or God of War, I shudder at the thought of seeing the B button prompt when Kratos is opening a chest, O the barbarity😱

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 422

GorosBat

It isn't a big deal and tbh it was honestly worth it considering how much I played the game and it and if I average it out per year I only spent about $450 a year. Only thing I wish I got back was the time I should of spent on year 12, but then again I never wanted to go to university because I knew that money doesn't lead to happiness. Damn I was even a little wise at 18, still makes me laugh how immature I was back then for a boy.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 422

GorosBat

@lolwhatno It's basically the ranked experience that is so addictive and is what 99% of the community is centred on, I've probably clocked up over 10k hours on it and spent over 3k on cosmetics and multiple accounts when I was a teenager, can gladly say I haven't spent a dime in 2 years. This is a warning to anyone who is interested in the game, STAY AWAY. it is literally the most toxic fanbase out of any game bar maybe CS Go, if you think toxic little 12 year olds on call of duty is bad you haven't seen it. The game brings out emotions and toxicity in normally passive people IRL but goddamn it feels so good when you beat someone who was trash talking you in the previous game and taking their LP. No other game even compares to the thrill of League of Legends, but man I wish I was never introduced to the game 8 years ago, this game is basically cocaine🤮

Re: GrimGrimoire OnceMore Remasters the Gorgeous PS2 Strategy Game for PS4

GorosBat

@Porco Because there is no reason not to release a niche title on only one platform, it’s. coming to switch as well. Your reply is just flat out dumb, don’t know why you wouldn’t want more people to play a game. I find it pointless as to why any non 1st party studio outside of a publishing deal would keep anything off PC, it’s free real estate and I think vanillaware titles would sell great on Pc especially for steam deck use.

Re: Suikoden Successor Shares Early Taste in PS5, PS4 Prequel Out in May

GorosBat

@suikoden Didn't know this one was coming to gamepass, only thought the RPG was, that's cool. Still doesn't change my opinion on it because of my stance on gamepass, I prefer to own my games, but I respect people who use the service to play their games as everyone has a different financial situation or use the service to demo games they wouldn't usually give a shot. Wish game pass was around 10 years ago as teenage me would have been overwhelmed by the plethora of games available.

Re: Suikoden Successor Shares Early Taste in PS5, PS4 Prequel Out in May

GorosBat

I watched gameplay on this game and honestly wasn't impressed. Apart from the graphics, everything looked janky, the character models all look like dolls being moved by strings, unless that's what the developers were going for which is "Fine" I guess... I Know I'm being a hypocrite but I absolutely hate it when people use "fine" when referring to the quality of something because it tells me you think something is bad/sub-par but just can't admit it (AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH my brain thinks too much). Also from what I've personally watched the level design looks like it was made by children as I can only see a straight 2d plain going from the left to right of the screen with slight deviations. I'm only complaining because the main game looks pretty good and I'm comparing this to Bloodstained Curse of the Moon, which was another game made from a stretch goal and spawned a sequel. So looks like it will be a purchase from me for $10 unless these impressions are completely wrong.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 421

GorosBat

Not much this week as I applied for a potential life changing job, but even if I don't fit the criteria because of past mental health issues I will be fine with it and will gain the courage to get back into the world and maybe study something, maybe even try to go for a career in gaming, big question is what I'd want to do, maybe something to do with writing as I'm finding that I have immense satisfaction from just talking about what I play each week🤔

Anyways, gaming has been a little light so I've played more Monster Hunter Rise, crossing the 160+ hour mark just hacking away for those monster crowns a couple hours here and there.

Also bought this months Humble Bundle which had a peculiar game in it called Chicken Police. It's a Noir themed adventure game in black and white where all the animals have human bodies aside from their heads. The game has crazy politics where the city takes place, it's basically the first city where predators and herbivores live in harmony and don't eat each other whilst also being a buddy cop type place set in what I'm going to guess is 1960's? Anyways it has its hooks in me but I can only play it for a little while at a time or my legs just get restless and I need to stretch or do some exercise. Wonder if anyone else gets that feeling while playing VN or text heavy games. I think it is on playstation consoles if anyone is interested and wants to check it out.

Lastly I'm playing Monster Sanctuary, which is a Pokemon Like and a Metroidvania at the same time, it mixes up the formula enough to be its own thing, I only wish the art style wasn't so pixelated, all of the monsters have a beautiful splash art in their codex entries, but when you're actually fighting their sprites are just the same as the ones in the overworld before engaging in battle, just a bad choice IMO. Imagine if pokemon did the same thing, fighting the same sprites as your follower pokemon in D/P remakes, just ugly.

Anyways, hope everyone here has a good weekend and I look forward to see what you're all playing this weekend😊😊😊
