Re: Poll: Was Sony's Latest State of Play a Show to Remember?

GorosBat

As your average Japanese game enjoyer, this was one of the best SOP's Sony have made, not to mention all the great games at the Nintendo direct and the Judgment games and Triangle Strategy are getting PC ports, it's like they knew it was my birthday this week and every game I wanted for the foreseeable future is coming and soon😍

Re: Lies of P's Amusing Placeholder Voice Acting Goes Viral

GorosBat

@Northern_munkey The issue of the voices in Borderlands The Pre-Sequel is that if I wanted to sound the way they do in the game I'd genuinely have to put in an effort with the mindfulness of trying to sound as Aussie as I can, our accent is a lot more subtle than the stereotypes that are extremely thick accents like you've said, sure there are a very select few that sound like it, but that is a limited number. If you want to hear a better Aussie accent you should listen to the knife in the "High on life" gameplay, albeit if an Australian was on cocaine which I guess is fitting for that game lol 😛

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 443

GorosBat

I decided to sift through my steam library and decide which games I wanted to pursue playing or permanently bench them to make way for the other games I know I will enjoy. So it has been a bit of a grab bag this week.

I’ve now started playing Descenders which is an oddly satisfying down hill bike riding game with procedurally generated levels, but the killer is every level so far has felt different which is quite the achievement. There is also endless possibility with user generated levels but I will probably stop playing once I beat each of the four main stages, of which I have beat two of so far. It is a surprising mix of bicycle sim/arcade game and is quite relaxing to play over listening to Spotify or a podcast.

The real game that has taken me too long to finally get to has been Blasphemous which we all know to be a Souls-Like 2d Metroidvania. This game would be an amazing fit for my horror October games playlist with the divine art style that has befallen my eyeballs with its lustrous design. I just can’t get over how much it’s staves have sunken into my skin and I can’t get enough!

Last game I’m playing is A Plague Tale Innocence which I’m replaying again before the sequel comes out. I don’t need to add to what everyone knows to this game being immaculate and have enjoyed every minute with one of the best games of the past generation.

Thanks for reading and happy gaming😋

Re: Captain America, Black Panther Title Revealed Without a Name

GorosBat

Unless the game has 4 player co-op I genuinely don’t know why they’d have 4 playable characters. Everyone is only going to pick Black Panther or Captain America, unless it’s going to be similar to Gotham Knights in the way that game is going through things. TBH I don’t like these types of announcements as all they say is the studio is making this game without delivering any substance about what we will actually be doing.

Re: The Callisto Protocol's Boss Underfire for Appearing to Glorify 15 Hour Shifts

GorosBat

Forced crunch is obviously bad. Implied crunch as in if you don't stay back or you will be fired is also a no go and would mean that workplace is a toxic environment that doesn't value its employees. That is the first half of the coin to me, but if it is literally only passion and it's only some people in the team doing it who "choose" to do it and isn't forced to make that choice, I'm fine with. We also need to look at the reality of gaming as a creative field and say maybe in the last 2 weeks or so it would be expected to work slightly longer hours than you usually work.

My only experience in life so far would be stocktake in retail, where by choice I had the option to either work my regular shift or work the stocktake shifts for that week for a longer duration, but I'd also be getting payed more per hour. So as long as the Calisto Protocol devs have the choice and are given actual incentives such as higher pay for that time period I'm fine with these people working longer hours. May I state again that if they made this mandatory I would deem that workplace as having a toxic work culture and most normal people should opt out of that type of environment.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 442

GorosBat

Going to try to finish off Deus Ex human Revolution, I got up to the DLC part in the Director's Cut which has completely broken the pace of the game. It basically removes all of your upgrades that you've earnt up to that point until you beat it, so I gave the game a rest for a few days. This is literally just before the final mission so once I get through this DLC I will power through to the credits from there.

Also playing Hedon Bloodrite, which is a "Boomer Shooter" where instead of playing as Doom guy you play as a sexy orc-lady and kill cultists instead of demons. I've only beat the first level and can say there is a lot more puzzles compared to doom, which is annoying to me as I play this type of game to shoot stuff up, hopefully the game opens up more because I've quite enjoyed the combat so far. The sound design is also the standout from what I've experienced so far.

Happy gaming everyone 😋

Re: Double Kickstarter Wants to Create Spiritual Successors to Wild Arms, Shadow Hearts

GorosBat

This might be the first pair of games I ever back, the Armed Fantasia graphics look so good and the fact that it's turn based is chef's kiss. There is further incentive for me as the backing price is supposed to be cheaper than what the games will launch for. These types of kickstarters aren't for funding the entire development costs for the game, but to show potential publishers that there is a market for the product they're developing. I'm going to guess this project makes over $4 million in the first week and will be happy to contribute towards it!

Re: A Third Voice of Cards Game Appears Ready for PS4 Release

GorosBat

Square Enix are smart, why charge customers for one game when you can split the game into 3 parts and charge more 😂I'm sure each game has it's own separate story with only minor gameplay tweaks, but this seems like if Square made people pay for routes A, B and C separately for Nier Automata.

Re: Suikoden Successor Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes Is Pixel Perfection

GorosBat

I'm happy I played Eiyuden Chronicle Rising earlier this year as I can see some characters from that in this trailer. Anyone interested in this game should check out Rising, it's a fun action RPG with fantastic town building and is a great introduction to the world, plus it's pretty cheap for what you get, I played for 21 hours and got all achievements for it.

Re: The Last of Us PS5 Remake Pays Tribute to Some of PlayStation's Greats

GorosBat

How about they actually tribute Jak and Daxter by making an actual game, it maddens me every single year that for many who grew up with the Jak trilogy and combat X have been neglected, this franchise could have been massive. If Insomniac had stopped Ratchet and Clank after the ps2 they wouldn't be the same company today, I want Naughty Dog to return to the goofy, bombastic and much more light hearted roots. The stuff they make now is great but I'm not gonna lie I'm not looking forward to future for the inevitable next Last of Us game which will occupy them for the majority of this generation. I just don't want to spend another generation where all Naughty Dog makes are depressing post apocalyptic 3rd person shooters, it's time to see something blasting us with colour, a charismatic lead or duo and what I want the most, a world that doesn't take itself too seriously.

Deus Ex Human Revolution: One of my new years gaming resolutions is to beat 10 games from my backlog and with the recent rumours about there possibly being a new Deus Ex game in development, it got me in the mood to finally have a proper playthrough of this magnificent game. Ironically I've already beat the sequel Mankind Divided, which left a strong impression on me when that game launched. There is also all the DLC that I never played in that game also giving me a reason to replay Mankind Divided again in the future.

What can I say about Human Revolution except that it is an amazing immersive sim, giving me numerous possible paths and outcomes on objectives giving me full freedom to roleplay as the Adam Jenson I so desire. The fact I can play this game as a stealthy ghost, never being seen and going full non-lethality is chefs kiss and is one of the reasons I'd like to invest in playing more games of this genre. Thanks for reading and happy gaming😋

Re: Soul Hackers 2 (PS5) - SMT on a Budget

GorosBat

Little sad seeing that as soon as a game gets lower than an 8 people feel like abandoning the game without giving a game a shot. Don't always take reviewers takes to heart, an example for me would be Gravity Rush that has an 80 on metacritic, which got several 7 scores or lower, the game turned out to be one of my favourite games of all time after beating it twice with a juicy platinum trophy on the side. Soul Hackers 2 at the time of me writing has a 78 which I'd consider to be good enough for a pick for me personally. The main issue in all the reviews is the dungeon design which isn't a big deal to me, Persona 4 Golden has bad dungeons and that game is still awesome. All this game needs is kick ass story and a fun battle system and it will be good to go for me!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 439

GorosBat

I started my 20th playthrough of Skyrim and as anyone can guess, as a stealth archer which I pick every single time. What can I say, when I play Skyrim I'm a simple man, I like to one shot everything and abuse the follower system with Faendel at Riverwood and get my archery skill up to level 50 in the 1st hour (always satisfying).

I will also be playing the Diofield Chronicle demo which I've already played through the beginning fight so I don't really have any opinion on it yet aside from I like the visual style.

Have a good week and happy gaming😊

Sunbreak: Spent over 100 hours in the expansion and am working on beating all of the available quests as well as making my mixed sets for my new favourite weapon the SwitchAxe.

Omno: A cute puzzle platformer sought of in the vein of a team asobo videogame, the art style is very lovely and vivid and the different animals you come across have charming designs.

Dinkum: An early access game that takes heavy inspiration by animal crossing, stardew valley and a hint of minecraft. Needless to say I've spent numerous hours trying to make my ideal island. This is all made by a single developer in just 4 years, which is incredibly impressive.

Re: Would You Pay $45 for an Overwatch 2 Character Skin? Blizzard's Curious to Know

GorosBat

Considering the most a LOL skin costs is about $30 AUD anything above that is just ludicrous, you'd have to be getting like 3 high quality skins in one and this is from the perspective of an ex-addict of League of Legends so for a normal person anything over $20 AUD for any cosmetic in a F2P game is just not worth it. FYI these prices are pretty normal in these types of games and many can justify buying these skins as they get 1000s of hours out of these games and are often the only game some people play at all. I'm not condoning these practices but there is 100% a market for this content, it has been in PC gaming for well over a decade at this point. I just don't think this really suits the console market at all. It isn't like any of these cosmetics make a game P2W because if that were the case (especially in competitive game) the game would be abandoned.

Re: Nearly 80% of All PS5, PS4 Games Are Bought Digitally

GorosBat

In Australia, it is genuinely cheaper to buy new releases for console games physically, but I've got to say that's due to the fact that you can only buy digital psn games on the playstation store. It isn't like PC where I get the majority of my games from official online key stores instead of on steam. So if sony don't continue to hold a monopoly on the digital store front I will continue to buy physical for brand new releases.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 436

Sunbreak- I've put over 80 hours into it and am deep into the endgame. I'm actually having a bit of a break from the game and only dabble into it here and there to try out new builds. Whenever the free content updates come out I will invest more time into this brilliant expansion, the sheer number of quests available has given the game greater sustenance compared to base Rise, this time giving us an actual end game with the qurio related quests, which unlock the final tier for most weapons along with the outfit voucher tickets for us fashion hunters (the true endgame).

Rune Factory 5- Played about 15 hours of it so far and am enjoying more than RF4 Special simply from the fact that in RF4 I knew that RF5 was coming so I held back from fully investing time into that game. RF5 is basically 4 except in 3d, so more of the same upbeat relaxing farming, JRPG life sim gameplay that I enjoy. I can see myself playing over 100 hours, albeit it at a leisurely pace.

Ys Origin- I finally got around to finishing Ys 2 chronicles after putting that off for a couple months getting mid way through the adventure for whatever reason. I preferred Ys 1, as the dungeon design wasn't as confusing as 2 (talking about you Solomon Shrine), the game was half as short and I didn't need to use the fire magic for 90% of the journey like I did in 2. Music in both games are absolutely divine and as I play more games in the series I'm coming to terms that this is the case for the entire series in general!

So, Ys Origin is what I've started and I'm already almost finished with the 1st playthrough, the combat is just THAT good! There are 3 different characters to choose from, each with differing stories and bosses and as the name would suggest is the origin story of Ys. The game is a prequel set 700 years before Ys 1+2 and is quite possibly a perfectly made origin story, making all the references and story connections to bridge between the OG games, simply astounding. If anyone wants to get into Ys I think Origin is a perfect start as the gameplay holds up really well, it is extremely fast, fluid and arcadey, constantly swapping between different abilities seamlessly to quickly dispatch all foes and god damnnnn that soundtrack slaps!

Thanks for reading my entry for this week and happy gaming😊
