You know a company is extremely predatory when the idea of making a game that doesn't rely on micro-transactions crosses their minds and they have no idea how that could ever be possible.
I don't think an Assassin's Creed protagonist could ever win a competition against almost any other character for me. They're all pretty bland IMO. Some were okay.
I find it kinda strange how it went from being a system I completely ignored for the first couple years, to one I progressively got more and more interested in until I bought one early this year, to the point where it could very well surpass the PS3 for me. Pretty sudden shift.
Just started a new game of Skyrim, and even though I've put well over 1000 hours into it, I'm addicted all over again.
Might play some Mario Odyssey too. Still not very far in that game. I'm actually finding it a lot of fun to be a semi-completionist, which is something I never do. I probably won't get all the moons, but I'll get as many as I can.
@JoeBlogs I do see what you're saying, but maybe they could include the difficulty settings at the start of the game, and once you pick one, you're stuck with it for the whole game?
I don't know. It's a weird issue, and I definitely see your side of it. I just get really frustrated with these games once I reach a certain point, and I always end up rage-quitting and then not picking it up again for months, which is annoying, because I really like the concept, and I love Monster Hunter, which is basically a more forgiving Dark Souls, so I know I would like these games.
@Splints Yes, but if there was an option to make it slightly easier, people would still get that feeling of accomplishment because it's scaled to their skill level. They can't get any feeling except frustration if they can't even play the game.
I'm not saying make it a hack n slash, I just mean give us the option to scale it down slightly so that people who aren't as skilled can have the same experience.
@Bliquid I see no reason why there can't be the option to make the game easier for other people. How would that make the game worse, and how would that interfere with your enjoyment of the game in any way? Just don't turn the difficulty down.
@sinalefa I sure hope so, because Dark Souls 3 is impossible for me. Can't get past the Undead Settlement area. It's a real shame, because what little I played was fun.
I just wish these games had difficulty settings. It seems pretty dumb to exclude the noobs among us just for the sake of it being extra "hardcore".
@get2sammyb I appreciate that very much. Like I said, I would be fine with being told not to do it if there was a legitimate reason that I should stop, I just wasn't sure what was going on with the silent editing. I can't imagine it was unintentional.
As for my original comment, it was what it is now, except there was a "Poor man's Splatoon" at the start.
Was it really necessary to remove the "Poor man's Splatoon" from my comment? At least tell me that I'm not allowed to say it (for whatever reason. Everyone else is allowed to use catchphrases like "Word up son" or "Mom's Spaghetti", but whatever) rather than secretly removing them from my posts.
Finally, a company who calls it what it is. I have a lot of respect for people who not only make their money by making fantastic games and not making mediocre games and filling them with micro-transactions, but also flat out call micro-transactions BS and don't say some neutral, "We have no plans to introduce micro-transactions" or whatever.
I might have to buy The Witcher 3 sooner than I thought.
@Th3solution Yeah, I don't think I'll ever win a game, either. At the start of a round I'm all chill and can spot people pretty easily and avoid them if I don't think I can get the kill, but as the round progresses, I get more and more anxious and start getting tunnel vision, lol.
Plus, I'm already pretty mediocre at first person shooters, so when I have to try to kill someone under pressure, I have all the accuracy of a Storm Trooper.
PUBG is overrated, and really clunky. The only thing really going for it is the last man standing concept. The game itself definitely feels like an Early Access game. Poor man's Splatoon in so many ways.
@Bliquid Basically anything that you dislike, don't care for, or like but have some issues with.
If you have some issues with something but like other aspects of it, you could just say "It's a bit of a poor man's Splatoon in that area, but everything else is good" or something along those lines.
I've only played Black Flag, so I guess that's my favorite, lol.
Wasn't all that impressed by it, though. Forgettable story, protagonist that I can take or leave, not many fun sidequests, and a world that didn't hold too many secrets that were truly interesting from what I can recall. The naval combat was fun though, and it was kinda fun to sneak around and kill people, even if it was a pretty average stealth system IMO. A solid 7/10.
@Onion Yeah, I think it could have done pretty well if the games were there, despite its other shortcomings. I know I would have seriously considered getting one.
People basically only buy the Vita for the indies anymore, and it's clear that the Switch is becoming a lot of people's ideal way to play indies. Add onto that a system that lets you effortlessly switch between portable and TV mode, has all the buttons and functionality of any home console, a decent amount of AAA third party support so far, and all of Nintendo's first party games, and you have a recipe for success.
Besides, with how well Nintendo's portable systems have always sold, it's not really surprising that there's a market for portable gaming. The Vita just doesn't do it very well in most people's opinion, judging by the sales.
@BLP_Software I'm pretty sure you said as much a couple days ago. Something about how you're not allowed to be positive about Nintendo here or something along those lines.
@BLP_Software I feel like you're kind of overdoing your fake hatred of Nintendo. Did someone threaten to ban you for liking them or something? That's the only real reason I can think of that you'd constantly bash them even though you actually like them.
I definitely have my eye on this. I just hope it's good. I've seen far too many poor man's Splatoons lately, and I really hope this doesn't turn out that way.
@get2sammyb I think he's saying that Nintendo cares about making truly great experiences, whereas a lot of companies just do it to make as much money as possible.
Of course, it's easy for an outside observer to think that way, but we can't really know how much Nintendo cares about truly making a great work of art vs making a great product so that they can make as much money as possible. I would guess there's an element of both in there, whereas companies like EA seem to care only about the money and not about making a game great for the sake of making it great, if that makes sense. Of course, I can't speak for every employee working for EA or Nintendo. I'm just talking about the companies as a whole.
Like I've said before, multiplayer first person shooters have just gotten stale for me. Games like PUBG manage to be entertaining to me because they're so different from traditional shooters, but shooters like COD and Battlefield have gotten old IMO. Poor man's Splatoon.

I won't buy it, but I'll try it out anyway.
Re: Talking Point: What Free December 2017 PS Plus Games Do You Want?
@Neolit That's true. The PS4 version could never surpass the Switch one.

Splatoon.

Good. The less sales for BF 2, the better.

Re: Review: Star Wars Battlefront 2 (PS4)
Not fun enough, micro-transactions suck, and EA can go shrivel up and die.
Re: Review: de Blob (PS4)
@RedMageLanakyn It's never going away. Enjoy!
@AFCC @Johnnycide @clvr Thanks, haha. And yes, I can now die happy and fulfilled.

Mario Odyssey.
Re: EA Removes Microtransactions from Star Wars Battlefront 2, for Now at Least
Major poor man's Splatoon. They just want to get a bunch of sales before they turn them back on.
Maybe it'll end up being less pay to win, but it's still gonna be pay to win at the end of the day. Don't buy it.

Poor man's Splatoon IMO.

@naruball May I ask how many Nintendo games you've played in recent years?
Re: Round Up: Star Wars Battlefront 2 Reviews Lurch Towards the Dark Side
The only thing missing from all these reviews is the phrase "Poor man's Splatoon", because that's clearly what this game is.
Re: Sounds Like Online Functionality Will Be a Big Part of Cyberpunk 2077
@Gmork___ In many gaming companies eyes, I suppose so, lol.
Re: Sounds Like Online Functionality Will Be a Big Part of Cyberpunk 2077
R.I.P Single player games. (Obviously they'll never completely go away, but clearly they're becoming less prevalent to some degree)
Re: Soapbox: After the Vita's Failure, Why Do People Now Want Console Games on the Go?
Because it's a way better system than the Vita.
People basically only buy the Vita for the indies anymore, and it's clear that the Switch is becoming a lot of people's ideal way to play indies. Wow, lotta tension in here. Let's all just chill out and accept that people have different opinions on games and review styles, okay?
Anyway, looks like I was extremely right about this being a poor man's Splatoon. Micro-transactions aplenty.
Re: Review: Call of Duty: WWII (PS4)
@Anchorsam_9 Well, I'm that much more glad I didn't buy it now.
Re: Action RPG Vampyr Won't Have DLC, But Needs to Sell One Million

Super Mario Odyssey again.

@AFCC Absolutely shameful.
Re: Review: Sonic Forces (PS4)
This is a poor man's Splatoon if I've ever seen one, as all the Sonic games I've played have been.
Re: Guide: Uncharted Games Ranked from Best to Worst
@Th3solution The first game, by far. They all are to an extent, though.
