Not sure how these games are still being made. They're fine, but they don't strike me as something that would sell as well as they do. The novelty died for me after I played my first one, which was Lego Star Wars II.
@get2sammyb It was an exaggeration, lol. I get around the same as you. It's just not nearly as much time as it should be, considering the Switch Pro controller gets like 30 hours of battery life.
It was pretty good. Facial animations could use some work, but at least they're better than Andromeda's.
I just hope you're able to actually do more stuff in the world in this game. The first one had a really big and cool looking world, but there wasn't a whole lot to do.
I think they should try the portable route again in several years time when the tech is better. Nintendo can get away with things like the Switch because they haven't focused on things like amazing graphical fidelity and such since the GameCube, but I think too many PlayStation owners care about power for it to do super well. (Despite PC being a much better choice if you're looking for power, lol)
Plus, I think a lot of PS4 owners, in the West especially, just don't like the portable gaming experience nearly as much as playing on the TV, regardless of how powerful the portable is.
@Kidfried I doubt it. Unless I'm mistaken, that guy at the end is the same Dutch from the first game, and he looks quite a bit younger. Bonnie is probably a little kid when this game takes place, if she was even born yet.
@Gremio108 Pretty kid friendly, if Monster Hunter Tri is anything to go by. I don't think there's blood in this game or anything. The worst you would probably see is something like a monster getting a crack in its shell or part of its tail cut off, but even that doesn't look gruesome really. The only kids who probably shouldn't play it are kids that get upset when creatures die in games.
I understand why he would be annoyed by them mentioning PUBG in the advertisements, but he's stupid to think that PUBG is supposed to be the only last man standing game out there. Imagine if all genres could only have one game in them.
Heck, they weren't even the first ones to make that kind of game anyway, so they're just as guilty.
The first one was really good, but I think it would have benefited a lot from modern technology. It was almost too ambitious for its own good IMO. It'll be nice to see the second one on a more powerful console than the PS3/360.
Traditional shooters have just gotten boring, honestly. I haven't touched Battlefield 1 in quite a while, whereas Splatoon 2 and PUBG have gotten a solid amount of playtime from me.
Not impressed by this one. Just Cause 2 was only decent, and the gameplay in Biomutant almost looks like an MMO, which is a genre I really don't enjoy at all.
Plus, Just Cause 2's story was absolute nonsense that I barely even remember.
Meh. I'm sure it's pretty good, but I don't tend to like spending money on "pretty good", especially when there are games that I want a lot more that I'm pretty sure cost less or the same amount of money, like The Last of Us or Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
It's probably good, but I feel like most "Souls-like" games are a little too Souls-like. They all start to blend together, at least for me. I feel like companies should deviate away from the standard of running through a gritty and sometimes bland-looking world and killing stuff and start adding more things to it, like a great story or puzzles, or any gameplay mechanic that isn't about fighting. Well-crafted combat systems in games are great, but sometimes when an entire sub-genre is focused on combat and basically nothing else, it gets pretty boring and same-y, especially when said combat system barely changes at all from game to game.
@Kidfried I suppose that's true. I can also see how Mario would make first-timers to the genre feel less intimidated by the idea of a strategy game than something like XCOM would.
Not surprising when the Switch just came out 6 months ago. I'm surprised Mario + Rabbids sold even that well, considering the somewhat niche genre and how weird the idea of a Mario and Rabbids crossover is.
This graphics arms race is getting old. It's gotten to the point where you can barely see a difference from upgrades anymore, and yet we're still getting mid-generation consoles made purely for better visuals. You would think we're back in the days of people upgrading from the SNES to the N64.
Besides, people who truly care about graphics enough to buy a Pro or X should just shell out a few hundred extra dollars and buy a PC.
I certainly hope so. This game is a ton of fun, and it would suck for people to miss out on it. By the way, for everyone here who's never heard of it and is generally dismissing it, I definitely recommend checking out some Twitch streams. This game can be incredibly intense.
@teknium_ Almost every shooter is better on the PC. Aiming with the sticks on a controller is absolutely archaic compared to a mouse. Pretty much the worst control scheme ever when it comes to shooters.
@Mahe Yeah, because the PS4 had such a great first year. Old PS3 games, Killzone, and Knack, among other games that weren't that great for the most part. Totally blows the Switch's first year out of the water, right?
@naruball Those I'm not sure quite on. I'm guessing they have some strategy with the NES Classic involving the potential Switch Virtual Console, or maybe the library of classic games you'll get when you pay for the online service, but I have no idea what's up with Amiibo.
@XCWarrior If that's a reference to Nintendo, they're having stock shortages due to limited supply of the tech used in the Switch, not because they're intentionally not making enough or underestimated demand for the system.
@Mega-Gazz Oh for sure, I'm just saying that this is undoubtedly a bit of a rip off. Taking inspiration from something is totally fine, but this takes a little too much inspiration IMO. Not that it bothers me or anything, I'm just saying it's not something to be proud of to the same degree as something like Nioh or The Surge.
@Mega-Gazz The level design is different, and there are touches of difference here and there, but there's no denying that it's much more similar to the Souls game than any other game in the genre like Nioh or The Surge, at least to my knowledge. Maybe that's not a bad thing, but it's still definitely not an original game/idea whatsoever. The setting and gameplay look very similar.
Everyone in this comment section must be extremely near-sighted or something. It's one thing to take inspiration from a game, but this is, IMO, a borderline copy and paste of the Souls games. Granted, I'm only partway through Dark Souls 3, and that's the only Souls game I've ever played, but if you told me that this footage was from Dark Souls 1 or 2, I would absolutely believe you. (Probably more so if you told me it was footage from 2, since Dark Souls 1 is getting up there in age) Even the death screen looks similar to the Dark Souls one from what I can recall.
Splatoon 2. I might play Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection again, too. I was trying to trudge through Uncharted 1, but that game is just not fun at all compared to Uncharted 3 and 4, so I might just skip right to Uncharted 2, which I've never played.
I would be fine with it if there were a cheaper option where you could just pay to play online, and leave the free games and discounts and stuff out of it. I'd rather pay a lot less money to just be able to play online than have to pay way too much money for features I don't even use the majority of the time.
I don't think there's any reason Sony can't have a cheaper option for people who just want to play online and don't care that much about stuff like downloading "free" games that are years old and are already really cheap. They just keep it this way for money, which I understand is their sole motivation, but it's still irritating.
@Reanfan7 If you already own a Wii U, it doesn't surprise me that you feel that way. It was well worth the price for me though, since I didn't own a Wii U.
I think by the end of the year it might be worth considering for Wii U owners, but that's a subjective thing.
The stories in these games are great (except for 1. That game was pure garbage in every way IMO) but I wish they would change up the gameplay a little. I believe this will be the 6th Uncharted game, and yet the gameplay really hasn't changed at all from the 1st one. I hope this one changes it in at least a semi-significant way. Climbing, shooting, and puzzling gets old after a while.

Give us a new DS4 battery now please. I would prefer a controller that doesn't die after like 5 minutes.

Re: October PlayStation Plus Games Announced
Awesome, never played either of them. I might be too much of a chicken for Amnesia, though. Never really could do horror games.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 187
Now that I've finished up The Last of Us Remastered, probably I'll play through the last two episodes of Life is Strange.

The PS4 itself is fine, the controller not so much.

Splatoon 2 and Life is Strange, and I might start playing Uncharted 2 as well.
Update: Just bought The Last of Us Remastered, so I'll primarily be playing that.

Probably Breath of the Wild for the most part. I'll also be playing in the Splatoon 2 Splatfest on team ice cream.
