Re: Life Is Strange 2 Will Reveal All on 20th August

KirbyTheVampire

@Constable_What I kinda have to agree. Haven't played the last couple episodes yet cause I find the game kinda tedious, but it seems like Max has some Stockholm syndrome or something. Chloe is just constantly irritating, but Max is always thinking something like "It's so great to be hanging out with Chloe again."

Re: Sony: We Need to Cater to All People, Regardless of Age, Gender, Sexual Orientation, Ethnicity, or Belief

KirbyTheVampire

@LuckyLand That's true. For example, I don't agree with the ideology of veganism. Does that mean I hate vegans? Of course not. I just don't agree with some of their moral arguments (some of them I do though, such as the meat industry being cruel), and I don't see what's so bad about that. They can disagree with me all they want, but I'm not automatically gonna assume that they hate me or wouldn't treat me with respect.

Love and respect I can get behind, but not this idea that so many people are pushing where you HAVE to agree with certain things or else you're a bigot. It's not so black and white.

Re: Sony: We Need to Cater to All People, Regardless of Age, Gender, Sexual Orientation, Ethnicity, or Belief

KirbyTheVampire

I'm not of the belief that everyone needs to agree with everybody on everything or else they're a disgusting and hateful bigot, but as long as games spread a message of love and respect for all people, I support that 100%. It's only when they tell me what I'm supposed to think about an issue that I start getting annoyed. I simply can't agree with the idea that you have to agree with and support everything about a person. Just because I might not agree with someone's beliefs on a certain topic doesn't mean I can't love and respect that person and treat them as my equal, which they are.

We're all human, and we're fully capable of loving one another while simultaneously having differences in our moral beliefs and whatnot. We don't all have to agree on everything.

Re: We Want to Make People Think and Laugh and Cry, Says Sony

KirbyTheVampire

More games need to do what God of War did. It had a great story, but it never forgot that it was a video game, and it was very fun to play the whole time.

This is a bit random, but I really wish more RPGs would be set in our modern world (it can vary a bit, such as being set in the 80's or 50's or whatever) and include urban exploration, like Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines does. Obviously it had a bunch of crazy supernatural stuff in it, but it was still in our world, and you could go to clubs, go up the elevator to various floors and search people's rooms in an apartment complex, travel underground through the sewers. etc etc. There was something so immersive about being grounded in smaller environments than most open world games, but having a huge amount of freedom in what you could do in those environments. It also had fantastic story, characters, and lore. It didn't take itself too seriously, but that game felt so real in some way, which made the story that much better, and I wish more games did that. Experiences like that in gaming are hard to come by.

Highly, highly recommend it. It's an older game (I believe 2002-2004 or so), so most PC's that aren't a pile of garbage can run it fine. I recommend looking up the guide for installing the unofficial patch on the Steam community page for that game though, because it's an absolute necessity. The game is basically broken without it.

Re: Life Is Strange 2 Will Set You Back $40

KirbyTheVampire

Hmmm, I'm probably gonna wait for a sale. I'm 3 episodes into the first game and enjoy it, but not enough to pay that much for it. And plus, I have several other games on my radar that take priority over this, so I can wait.

Re: Talking Point: How Much Does Cross-Play Matter to You?

KirbyTheVampire

Are we seriously worrying about the financial health of a company as huge as Sony? Come on now. They have more money than we could ever dream of having. Enabling cross-play is not going to hurt them, and if it does, it won't be in a significant way.

Just because most of us here are not huge multiplayer gamers doesn't mean a large number of people wouldn't benefit from enabling cross-play. Worry about them, not one of the most massive companies in the world.

Re: Soapbox: Games Are Allowing Players to Be More Expressive, And It's Ace

KirbyTheVampire

@PS_Nation That's fair enough. I think they could have added more variety to your objectives during slower parts, but they did do a solid job of using those segments to expand on Ellie and Joel's relationship.

I personally didn't notice frame drops while fighting in BoTW, and I thought the combat was very enjoyable, but yeah, there was very little variety in the game overall. That's probably my biggest issue with the game.

And nah you're fine lol, I didn't take any offense.

Re: Soapbox: Games Are Allowing Players to Be More Expressive, And It's Ace

KirbyTheVampire

@PS_Nation The gameplay during the parts with enemies is great. The rest, not so much IMO. It felt like they just thought to themselves "We don't know what to do here, so let's just have the players move objects around and float Ellie across water." Again, really great game, and Part II is one of my most anticipated games, but the slower parts of the game were not fun for me.

And what makes you think the gameplay in BotW is bad? No hate, I'm just curious. I personally thought the core gameplay was the best part of BotW. The other aspects of the game like the story and the exploration (primarily due to a lack of variety in the stuff you can find) were the low points of the game for me.

Re: Soapbox: Games Are Allowing Players to Be More Expressive, And It's Ace

KirbyTheVampire

@get2sammyb Fair enough. The gameplay looks pretty similar to the original to me (although the levels do look quite open compared to the original game, which does support your point, and they seem to have expanded on other aspects as well), but I do agree with your main point that games have become a lot more based on player freedom than they were in the past, even outside of Sony. Just look at games like Breath of the Wild or Super Mario Odyssey.

Re: Soapbox: Games Are Allowing Players to Be More Expressive, And It's Ace

KirbyTheVampire

@EXP Pretty much. And plus, dealing with enemies in different ways is nothing new. Games have allowed that for a long time.

I agree with the point of the article, but TLoU is not a game I think of when I think of games that allow a lot of freedom. It's essentially a movie with gameplay that involves stealth, shooting, and very basic melee combat. (And plenty of walking and pushing crates around and climbing ladders, which is quite dull. Great game otherwise, but still)

Re: Feature: All the E3 2018 Press Conferences Rated and Reviewed

KirbyTheVampire

From worst to best:

EA: Not interested in any of the games shown. Poor conference IMO.

Square Enix: Not very interested in most of these games, and they didn't show stuff like the Avengers game. It was overall just boring and disappointing.

Ubisoft: Not super interested in anything shown aside from Assassin's Creed, but it was entertaining enough with the Just Dance sequence and plenty of delicious cringe, especially with the microphones being on when they shouldn't have been. "We nailed it! We nailed it!"

Bethesda: Boring conference aside from a few parts like Skyrim Very Special Edition, but there were plenty of solid games shown. I would mark it higher if games like Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield weren't so far away.

Nintendo: One of the worst conferences of E3. The only thing that saved it for me was Smash, which I'm super hyped for. The rest was just a mess, and there wasn't much of note announced outside of Smash, unless you're a fan of Mario Party, which I'm not.

Sony: The way the conference was set up was absolutely atrocious with the whole moving the crowd from room to room thing, but the extremely impressive games shown (excluding Death Stranding, which did not impress me at all) saved the conference. I'm very happy with it overall, but they need to do a better job of setting the whole thing up next year.

Microsoft: Although the first party support is still lacking compared to Sony and Nintendo, it was still a great conference, even for PS4 owners. Tons of multiplat stuff shown, there was little time wasted with nonsense like there was in the Sony conference, and overall they did a great job.

Re: E3 2018: God Knows What's Going on in Death Stranding Anymore

KirbyTheVampire

@dark_knightmare2 @AFCC I didn't say there wouldn't be more, but this can barely be considered a gameplay segment. Most games allow you to walk around after all.

I'm sure the game will be good, but this trailer did not excite me at all.

@WanderingBullet Probably, but it clearly has the opposite effect on me, lol.
