@Boucho11 still blows my mind anyone would want a white console or controllers. I read a while back that they might do interchangeable faceplates which would be neat.
@playstation1995 I’ve had a couple of Xbox’s... and can confirm it doesn’t really matter how much PS5 is. I’m getting it for their games. I don’t care if some of them are going to PC 3-5 years from now. Sure there might be a middle of the road fan base that doesn’t care for Sony’s exclusives, but I doubt it’s going to matter
It would be foolish to expect Sony to outsell MS like they did this gen, but knowing the masses and media they’ll look at this as a failure on Sony’s part.
One thing is for certain... I’ll be drooling over sequels to some masterpieces that only Sony can deliver and using gamepass on my PC. Gamepass is a great idea, but not going to replace the exclusives I enjoy on Sony’s machines.
@ArmyofOne arrogant or confident... they know people are going to get their console for the games.
As much as I like MSs Netflix model with gamepass... can’t play some of the best games ever on that or PC. Well... maybe PC, but I’d have to wait years after initial exclusivity.
@get2sammyb good insight. Didn’t think of that. MS could snag some folks just wanting a next gen console if they open up preorders. Perhaps, like most leaks, this was planned by MS.
@DeadManInBlack agree with too many tech demos. Not enough full games. I get it that devs hadn’t had time to really make games and expect it to be worth it money wise but the amount of short experiences was getting old real quick
Makes me wonder if it hurt VR in the long run instead of making more fans with some full fledged games
That being said resident evil 7 in VR is to this date still one of the better Full VR games I’ve played. And that was done relatively early in psvrs life cycle. So no great excuses as to why more devs haven’t come up with some longer games. I’d even take ports in the short term. Had loads of fun with Skyrim in VR and it’s old and not even optimized.
@jbreez00 I know they weren’t the first, but it became a big part of their narrative about midway through this last gen. Was never this big thing stressed or countless websites touting MSs emphasis on it as what is separating them.
But don’t get me wrong... sure I think it’s a good thing but a game changer meh.
Most of my experience old games are better left for memory and at least most everyone I know doesn’t have time for older stuff anyway. When they do it lasts an hour and back to newer games.
@Octane agreed. Pirate like games have historically been some of my favorite games. The fact that it’s ever changing means I’ll likely never be able to reach god like status or feel a sense of completion.
This series is perfect for VR. When VR gets there one day... I think the only thing that will make me genuinely enjoy the outpost capturing, repetitive questing, boring, broken storylines with almost zero memorable moments of an Ubisoft game again will be the addition of VR.
Haha that being said, they make solid games with tons of content. I get my hours out of them, but have basically been disappointed with everything other than the graphics since Black Flag.
@BRUTALSAM I think it’s great... who cares if Horizon and Bloodborne or any of these other ones go to PC. Or even Xbox for that matter. More money for Microsoft. More gamers getting to play some great games. I’ll fire this up on my pc just to see the improvements. Now if Sony decides to release Bloodborne 2 or Horizon Zero Dawn 2 on every machine from the get go ... well... I’ll reconsider getting a PS5 because at the moment their exclusives (for only a few years or not) are what attracts me to it most.
@Constable_What luckily I’ve played so many games between the original and this one I’ve lost track of all the characters and the leaks I accidentally read didn’t mean much to me.
The first one was amazing and I’d imagine this journey and level of quality is going to be up there and worth it as well
@sonicmeerkat a while back I created a profile for the Japanese servers so I could browse the Japanese store. They have stuff on there not available in the US. Been too chicken to try and buy anything however. As I don’t know how payment would work or if it would work right from a US account
@Xiaolin I’ve been able to manually pause downloads so there’s not more than one at a time. But a que feature would be nice
Aside from that I’d like a gift feature as well so I can force some of my friends to have a game. Haha
You’re totally right about the OS and store being a mess. One of the things I miss about having an Xbox this last gen.
it’s often slow, not easy to find and wishlist things, no intuitive announcement option that something you’ve wishlisted is on sale, the categorizing and order of stuff is a complete mess, half the time searching for things I have to scroll through a bunch of irrelevant pay to play garbage.
I don’t get it. Seems to me one of the easiest things they could revamp to look and navigate smoother.
As far as the random NAT issue. Haven’t had one for a good while but man those are annoying especially when it’s so random. However had them on live as well. Internet being the internet
@Porco that was my first thought... how nasty is this going to look after a year of my mitts all over it. And I tend to keep my hands clean. I can only imagine how gross some controllers are going to look.
@djlard the hand grips on DualShock have always been horrid for me and ergonomically not good for my hand size. Always liked the larger Xbox controllers.
I’m excited to see how PS5’s components come together. Glad Microsoft hit some good numbers but it’s all how those components come together and about what’s available on it.
Of course most excited for the games and that numerous developers seem to think it’s great for developing those games.
I’d like to have both at some point, but looks like PS5 will be on my shelf first as I already have a pc.
Kudos to both companies for running neck and neck. Good for gaming in general
VR Optional please if not at launch in its future. RE7 remains one of the better VR games I’ve played. Took me forever simply because I could only play at night.
@MattSilverado Resident Evil was pretty sweet on Psvr. I think they could pull it off but I’d wait for psvr2. Perhaps a launch title? That would get some headsets off the shelf for them.
@Ryall I also wonder if the SSD and it’s ability to transfer data and complete instructions can be utilized as virtual ram. The speed difference could equate to a big difference.
@GKO900 oh totally hear you... if there’s more revenue sure why not... but I don’t see this happening at a significant level for at least a few years. So it doesn’t really matter. And still speculation.
@Juanalf what exclusives are they losing? I’ve only heard of Horizon. 3 years after its release. All I can find is speculation they aren’t doing exclusives. People seemed to run with the horizon announcement and apply it to everything. Though I can’t find a source nor has anyone provided anything other than speculation.
@Dan_ozzzy189 people are basically focusing on a 1.82 teraflop difference and some negligible cpu and memory differences.
I would like to see what difference in how the almost double I/O throughput of PS5 makes. I think it’s ignorant to say one is more powerful than the other at this point. Which leads it coming down to games again.
@RayNick I don’t know about you Ray but I barely have time for current gen games and could care less about full backwards compatibility.
I do agree it should be something available. It would be fun, nice, but most of all appease the upset people so they could play stuff that’s better left to memory.
Personally... though I’ll likely have both consoles at some point because I think MS is doing great with their plans, it’s still about several exclusives to me. Sony just dwarfs MS in this department.
A few numbers here and there are less but yes it would’ve been nice to see it’s performance.
For one, I want to see what ps5s double I/O throughput actually equates to? Could that make up for the number difference we see in other areas?
It was a little anti climactic, but overall neck and neck with MS. I don’t think the power difference is just going to come down to compute units and teraflops. Guess we’ll only see once some dual platform games get demoed.
Full backwards compatibility with prior gens was personally unimportant to me. Too many games and too little time currently, but I’m surprised they at least wouldn’t position some plans to address this since it’s so important to the masses.
Going to come down to the games ultimately. And we already know where we can find them.
@themcnoisy I am also curious about what difference this will make. It sounds like it’s ability to complete tasks and response time. This could easily make up for any GPU and or CPU difference from what I’m reading.
@GKO900 it’s only Horizon that’s been announced. I can’t find anything but speculation that any other exclusives were going to PC. Or anytime within years.
That would be great as I’d love to play a few on my PC, but I can’t find anything to substantiate that this was going to be a new standard and recovering thing.
@Col_McCafferty the tutorial feels spread out over the first 20hrs... but one of the better stories I’ve played in a video game. Full of cultural quirks and good character building.
Plan on referencing a few persona mixing guides online. Even doing so I still don’t quite understand what I’m doing.

@curriemonster pure silence across social media would be nice anyway. And I mean ALL social media. Wonder what people would learn about themselves

@get2sammyb kind of like backwards compatibility. Was never a thing until a certain console maker had no games.
Don’t get me wrong. It’s a nice feature, but I never had time for old stuff when there’s just too much new stuff to play

@Octane agreed. Pirate like games have historically been some of my favorite games. The fact that it’s ever changing means I’ll likely never be able to reach god like status or feel a sense of completion.
Plus this sounds like a recipe for MTs
Sigh
Plenty of other games to play next gen.
Hoping we get a black flag 2 at some point.

Depressing how rich I would’ve been haha
Re: Track Your PS4 Play Time with This Website
@Deadlyblack my favorite is seeing someone on Steam have 2500hrs in some game and giving it a negative review. Haha
Blows my mind how many hours some people are able to dedicate to one game.
If I get 70hrs out of a game it’s usually at the least a 7.5/8.
Re: The Last of Us 2 Petition Demands Dramatic Story Alterations
@AdamNovice don’t you think that’s a good thing in video games however? The unexpected disappointment in the sense of certain events within the game?
Was one of my favorite things about the show game of thrones. Nothing was safe. Sometimes tough to predict. Yet engaging.
To me ND came through with their choice of events regardless of what I wanted

@HellOfaHunter some of them... I’m curious how much the PS5’s almost double I/O throughput effects the speed of things.
The operating cores speed leads to an almost negligible difference.
Either way looks like both will be worthwhile powerhouses next will end up on my shelf at some point.
