Re: Beloved Classics Will Comprise PS Plus Premium Catalogue

MetalGear_Yoshi

Random retro realises can be fun too though. There's only so many "beloved" titles and even fewer from the PS1 gen that still hold up. If they are going to go the extra mile and add achievements I can see why they would want to keep the catalogue down to games that appeal to the broadest audience.

Re: SnowRunner Delivers a PS5 Version Next Month, Free Upgrade for PS4 Players

Awesome. Really good game. If you're curious about the game it's worth checking out. It's not one of those cheap feeling "sim" games some devs churn out. It's not AAA either so the mission structure is pretty simple with no bells and whistles. Deliver this here. Find this vehicle. Reach this tower etc. but the gameplay itself is really satisfying and there's a lot of vehicles and locations to unlock and season passes with even more content if you want more.

@Toypop I agree. It's not zen like Euro/American truck sim. There's a lot more tension. The second you get complacent you're likely to accidentally roll your truck..

I wish those games were on consoles too. There is one or two but none look as well made as the Euro/American truck sim games. They must be leaving a lot of money on the table not porting them. I'm sure they have there reasons though.

@AdamNovice Have Pushsquare hired you as a tag line writer yet? Lol.

Re: PS3 Emulation Allegedly in Production for PS5

MetalGear_Yoshi

If they're working on it I have no idea why they didn't announce it with the subscription reshuffle. That said they clearly thought they could reshuffle their current services and act like it was a new service and people would be excited. Seems like they may just be completely out of touch.

Re: Xbox Game Pass Inspired PS Plus Reboot Reveal Rumoured with Splashy Lineup of Games

MetalGear_Yoshi

They're going to have to offer a lot of value to get me to pay more than I already do. I have Gamepass and am really happy with that service. Given Sony's attitude with first party game prices and next gen upgrades etc. I doubt they'll come close. I highly doubt they'll even offer year old games like Returnal on a service, much less launch massive AAA games on the service like MS does.

I'd love to be proven wrong though as the PS5 is my preferred console.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Fans Left Wondering If the Game's Still Getting Two Expansions

MetalGear_Yoshi

Could they potentially be planning to port the game to unreal 5? No idea if that sort of thing is feasible but if it is that could explain their wording. The first expansion is already deep in development and will come out for the current red engine version and the second will drop when the port is done.

Or maybe they feel they've damaged their reputation so much already that it doesn't matter if they don't deliver on their promises a second time.

Re: Poll: We Want You to Rate Your Favourite PS5 Games

@Titntin Yeah, it's not that I can't afford it, I can. It just puts it a bit above that impulse level price if I'm not 100% sold on the game. Then by the time they're on sale the game is a bit older but the sale price is around where my mind still is for a full priced game. And even if didn't mind that they upped the price a bit but here in Australia it's a full 25% increase. Non 1st party Sony games are $100AUD. The PS5 Sony games are $125. It's a pretty steep jump. Other companies happily giving away next gen upgrades and keeping the same RRP (to sell more MTX I'm sure) doesn't help either. It all leaves me less inclined to reward Sony personally.

I also have an XBSX with Gamepass so I'm kind of spoiled for games. I'm usually just as happy to play whatever fun indie game was just put on Gamepass as I am anything else. I do really like both next gen systems though. They can look very pretty and the SSD load times are a godsend. Really looking forward to seeing what we get when current gen is the full focus and devs have learned how to get everything out of them.

Re: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure the Big Winner from Sony's State of Play

MetalGear_Yoshi

@Titntin Exactly. Ninja games in various iterations have been a big part of gaming since at least the NES. Should Tenchu not exist because it steps on Ninja Gaidens toes? Don't get me started on that 16bit upstart "Strider".

And some games have even more or less "created" genres. If people didn't take inspiration from them the industry would be barren. Doom is the best example. Obviously not the first fps and even Wolfenstein had its copy cats but Doom was the game that made fps an integral genre in the industry. There's no CoDs or Halos without it.

Street Fighter 2 had a similar effect on fighting games. Should Tekken or MK not exist because we already have a 2v2 fighter? That'd be a sad world.

Re: Poll: We Want You to Rate Your Favourite PS5 Games

MetalGear_Yoshi

The problem is that PS5 barely has any defining games. I've played a bunch of games on it don't get me wrong but they're mostly just multi-platform games that play the same on XBSX or PC. Many of the first party games are also on PS4 and. Out of the few PS5 exclusives I've only really played Astros Playroom and R&C. Astros was an extraordinary introduction to the systems features. R&C was another fun R&C game. None of the couple other exclusives have tempted me enough to pay the ridiculous $125 price tag first party Sony games have here in Australia. Even in PSN sales they're still $90+. So ask me how good returnal is once it's hit $50 on PSN.

I do really like the PS5. It's just a shame that it feels like the slowest starting generation ever.

Re: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure the Big Winner from Sony's State of Play

MetalGear_Yoshi

@MakersMark Nobody is getting hoodwinked. You're just acting melodramatic (and that's the nice way to put it). It's literally a completely different genre. Again, there can be more than 1 samurai game...

Also, don't call me your "friend". You started out by saying I'm part of a "coven" (lol, okay) and am somehow getting "duped" because I'm not having conniptions over 2 games sharing a theme like you are. Don't be two faced. If you're going to talk down to people own it.

Re: Random: Elden Ring PS1 Demake Looks Sharp Enough to Take Someone's Eye Out

MetalGear_Yoshi

@PegasusActual93 Well maybe this alternate reality game wasn't made in 98? Artistic license and all that.

It's a short video to tickle people's nostalgia, not an accurate depiction of the systems capabilities. Personally I think it makes way more sense to aim for what we imagine they looked like when we played them back then. What does it matter what a late 90s PS1 game looks like with an upscaled resolution via emulation when the memories people have are playing PS1 on a 50cm CRT? Speaking of memories, people remember the awesome looking games like Tekken 3 and Vagrant Story as well as games from before the graphics got impressive that were little more than a janky mess of triangles.

Re: Test Your PlayStation General Knowledge - Issue 2

MetalGear_Yoshi

12/15 but a couple were straight up guesses. Who remembers the names of GTAIV girlfriends and how many Nightmare Creatures games there were on PS1 (I'm literally blanking on the series. Don't know if I've ever heard of it.)? Some were really easy though like the genre of Black, PS2 memory card capacity and the name of EA's engine.
