Re: PS Plus Gets Heavy Discounts for Black Friday

N1ghtW1ng

I let my subscription lapse back in December 2018.

I haven't had the time to partake in multiplayer games since then, and the amount of games that I kept stockpiling from the PS+ offerings just kept growing and growing.

Nothing really has changed since then, well, except for the multiple increases in the subscription price for PS+.

I wish Sony would offer a cheaper alternative to PS+, just offering online play.

Re: Mortal Kombat 1's Microtransaction Backlash Prompts Free Fatalities

@NinjaNicky

What you said is so true; if there's a demand for something, Warner Bros Games (and other Publishers) are obviously going to exploit this demand by doing stuff like this.

Personally, I don't know why any gamer would want to actually purchase fatalities for actual money.

You also can't tell someone how to spend their money, so if they want to spend it on paid fatalities, there's nothing we can really do about it.

Re: Maligned Modern Warfare 3 Developed in Just 18 Months, Staff Required to Work Nights and Weekends

N1ghtW1ng

I've never quite understood the appeal and the longevity of the Call of Duty series.

I played the very first game back in 2003 (man, I'm so old...) and I played each iteration until the first Black Ops.

I also didn't play any of the multiplayer modes, so that's probably why I had a relatively short stay with the series.

Sad to hear that the developers were forced to crunch after being promised that it wouldn't occur.

I also don't agree with some of the comments disparaging the fact that these developers had to crunch or work overtime.

I'm not a developer, but overtime is not overtime when you're having to clock in at the office before the sun rises, and go home just before midnight (if you're lucky, otherwise you'd just kip at the office). Also doing this on weekends make it even more egregious.

That's crunch, and it should be made an unlawful labour practice at the least.

Re: Physical Games Represented Just 4% of Sales for PlayStation Last Quarter

N1ghtW1ng

I prefer physical format over digital any day of the week.

I'm really disappointed that Alan Wake 2 and the next Like A Dragon game don't have physical releases at the moment.

I don't mind getting up to swap discs, or storing them somewhere. I may only have a license to the game on the disc, but I have full ownership over the disc itself.

With physical, it helps to keep me grounded and ensure I don't buy more games than I can play. My drawer can only fit around 16 PS4/PS5 cases, so I'm never exceeding that number.

Also, it's nice to sometimes view and admire your physical collection of games. I don't think you get the same feeling when browsing through your library on the PS4 o PS5.

Re: Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged (PS5) - A Fast and Furiously Fantastic Follow-Up

@MFTWrecks

Y'know, the first game (and probably the sequel as well) is a bit weird, as it's based off of a toy property, but the game itself isn't really meant for kids, especially young kids.

Milestone is a developer with a simulation racer background, so even though Hot Wheels 1 & 2 have an arcade driving model, I think it still leans into it's simulation heritage as well.

Re: Best Batman Games

N1ghtW1ng

I consider Arkham Knight to be the best Batman game.

It's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be, and nearly 10 years later, it's still visually stunning.

If only there was a PS5 patch for it to implement 60 FPS.

Re: DriveClub at 60FPS on PS5 Has Us Mourning the Loss of Evolution Studios All Over Again

@Topov81

I purchased DC back in October 2015, completed the game and the Season Pass content by July 2016, and then sold it.

I kept regretting the DC sale, so I managed to purchase another copy in 2020.

Glad to hear you managed to purchase the DC Bikes DLC.

With all the licences involved and DC's mediocre sales performance, I seriously doubt we'll ever see it remastered for the PS5

Re: DriveClub at 60FPS on PS5 Has Us Mourning the Loss of Evolution Studios All Over Again

N1ghtW1ng

DriveClub deserved better than what it received. It had a rocky launch for sure, but it was an excellent Sim-Cade racer.

Also, the Season Pass for DriveClub was probably the most value I've ever received when it comes to DLC. The game's weather effects were also sublime.

I would do anything to experience DriveClub at 60 FPS on the PS5 (and also the ability to purchase the Bikes DLC as well).

Re: Preview: Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 Really Does Feel Like a Turbocharged Sequel

N1ghtW1ng

The Elite difficulty on the first game is extremely brutal and unfair. There's so much rubber-banding, it's infuriating to race using the highest difficulty.

I think I won like 2 races on Elite, after around 30 attempts each and then I switched to Hard and had a much more pleasant experience.

I don't think I'll pick the sequel up (the first game is fun, but Milestone just can't seem to make games where the racing and handling is really, really fun), but I do hope it does well.

Re: PAYDAY 3's Launch Has Been So Rough That an Offline Mode Is Being Considered

N1ghtW1ng

@Powerplay94

I also played H1 & H2 years after their initial launches, and had the exact same experience.

I truly enjoyed both games (been a fan of the series since I played the first Hitman on PC in 2001), but it sucked missing out on the Elusive Targets.

@AdamNovice

I remember The Darkness, it was one of the first games I played on the PS3 back in 2007. I think you could actually watch To Kill A Mocking Bird within the game, and that cutscene still haunts me to this day.

Re: Microsoft Documents Show How PlayStation Now Saved Fallout 76

N1ghtW1ng

From now on, I'll refer to Phil as the XGP Nonce.

He should just be transparent and upfront; either make his disdain for Microsoft's competitors known or just keep quiet about it.

Don't put up this fake games-are-for-everyone-regardless-of-platform façade as the truth will eventually be revealed.

Re: Jim Ryan Praises PlayStation Home for Being '10-15 Years Ahead of Its Time'

N1ghtW1ng

I remember trying out PS Home back in late 2009 just as my household upgraded to ADSL internet (what a time to be alive!).

I remember reading about some sort of interactive Trophy Room you'd be able to access in PS Home to browse through your trophies and it would be like some sort of museum-like experience.

The novelty soon wore off with all the long loading times between all the sections.

I think I checked it out again during the 2010 FIFA World Cup, but I didn't stick around too long.

The ideas and concepts were definitely ahead of their time. The PS3 was just not the platform that it required to succeed.
