I doubt they’ll raise the price of the configurations they have now. They might sell a more premium system for a higher price. Maybe a 1.6 TB model for $700 and then just make most those. Bit like how the digits lamely PS5 exists but very few are being produced.
The optics of selling the same thing for a higher price are so bad I doubt it do it. But I doubt it’s ever going to fall below the current price.
@naruball 8/16 bit pixelArt is a style. The use of 3-D models is another style. People of course have preferences for one style or another but ultimately what matters is the artist skill.
If we think about it in terms of fine art it would be absurd to say oil paints are more expensive than water colours. Therefore all oil paintings are better than all watercolours.
I think this game looks fine but it’s certainly not the best example of the use of 3-D models in a video game. If someone produces a pixel art game of the highest quality it will get praised by people who like that style. I certainly wouldn’t consider it inferior because it’s in a older style.
Japan is still getting a game a year but that game seems to be more and more likely to be trails. I wonder why the balance has shifted away from Ys and the other stuff?
It makes me kind of sad that of the eight old Trails games going to PlayStation plus in Japan. Only four have been released in the West. One has a release date for later this year. The remaining 3 supposedly coming in 2023.
The latest game doesn’t appear on the service hasn’t even been announced for releasing the west yet.
Of the 3 PS3 games. The english translations are available on steam.
I’ll be finishing up Danganronpa 2 and probably some GT7 with a podcast on in the background tomorrow.
I was also planning to play Cotton fantasy. But my pre-order hasn’t turned up and has been converted into a back order. I don’t feel like paying the digital premium.
I don’t see the switch passing the PS2 unless the switch is successor is treated the same way as the GameBoy Colour and counted together with the original switch.
I had a physical copy pre-ordered because it looks cool and it is my game of the year so far.
Make sure you play in the performance high frame rate mode with v-sync. If you don’t have a VRR screen. The is some kind of weirdness with this game at low frame rates.
The market really does value live services more than single player games at the moment. It amazes me that destiny and the studio and makes it are worth 12 times more than tomb Raider and the studios that make that.
I wonder whether any games will be delisted if there’s a retroactive mandate that publishers aren’t happy about and don’t want to put resources towards.
Edit: looking more closely I realise it won’t be retroactive so won’t affect old games.
@trev666 We know from the Apple versus Epic lawsuit that Sony has a company license for unreal. That license is different from the contract of adhesion. We don’t know what the terms of that agreement are but we do know that epic considers it favourable to Sony.
Ghostwire Tokyo. I’m about 10 hours in and it’s my favourite game of the year so far. I haven’t enjoyed an open world game this much since Breath of the Wild.
I’m playing it on high frame rate performance mode since it seems weirdly slow on the quality and normal performance modes
@ShogunRok Do you expect to cover it if the game’s technical issues are later fixed? This is still something I really want to play. But I’d rather place in the state that lives up to be original PS1 experience.
@FatallyYours117 Technology is still advancing even if they can’t make enough of what we want now. The slim means taking advantage of that to use less resources so it absolutely will happen and will improve availability.
A pro based on a larger chip seems highly unlikely in the current climate of shortages.
It’s worth remembering that whilst trails of cold steel four is the most recent game in the series released in the West. There are two more recent untranslated games in Japan with a third coming in September
This is about technology and know-how. Bungie engine is one of the best for first person shooters. They’ve also successfully run live service for years and that experience will be invaluable to PlayStation.
It isn’t really about Bungie output of games. They’re unlikely to be changed by this acquisition. All the statements have been about how PlayStation will use the expertise.
They’ve given us standalone DLC‘s before and then never a good idea. Because they assume a skill level based on you having played the game the Game they are a DLC for. But I think this is the first time they’ve given you the game and the DLC and then in the later month just for DLC on its own.
It lost something without the Vita’s touchscreen for sliding but I still enjoy playing it a lot. I certainly miss Japan studios more than I do Bethesda and more than I will Activison .
Push Square game of the year isn’t even on Metacritic list. Metacritic game of you doesn’t make it to Push Square’s list. Neither of your list include my game of the year Ys9. Hopefully none of these games would be in anyone’s top 10 if they released in 2022.
I’m not surprised. But I also wouldn’t be surprised if it hadn’t been on the list at all. A weird year with a lot of good games. Where nothing truly stands out is great.
@Jacko11 Sony usually releases games when they’re ready rather than trying to space them out. Ghost (July 17, 2020 ) and the last of us part two (June 19, 2020) release less than a month apart. Other than them not arriving on the same month it’s pointless to try and guess based on the release schedule from other studios.
I remember for Horizon forbidden west was supposed to be a launch window game. I have a feeling that if I needed to shift PS5 systems some of those cross gen games would The PS5 exclusives. Gran Turismo seven was plan to be PS5 exclusive before they realised they didn’t need it to be.
@Dezzy70 The are fun arcade races like dangerous driving on PS4. I do like GT to. But it’s a game where you need to break and go at appropriate speed rather than continuously accelerating and drifting round corners.
@tameshiyaku I played it just after it launched on PS5 so your information is more up-to-date than mine. But when I was about six hours in it said my power level was insufficient I wouldn’t let me play The mission I wanted to play. That’s the point at which I gave up.
It’s a real pity it would be a great game if you could mainline it and just play the good stuff. However they just don’t value your time enough and I just can’t stick the grind.
The “cancellations of — asset deliveries from our asset partners” Sounds like the reason competent third-party out sourcing companies are getting bought up at the moment.
I enjoyed my time with PSVR but I have long since stopped using it. Higher numbers and iterative improvements isn’t going to be enough to get me to jump back in.
If there’s a game I want to play and can’t play in the other way I’ll probably get it. But I’m passed the novelty of the existing games in VR.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 437
Mostly Digimon Survive with occasional bouts of Pocky and Rocky.
Re: Sony Officially Acquires Bungie, Accelerates Vision to Create Generation-Spanning Entertainment
It’s a very Psygnosis like set up. Hopefully it doesn’t end up causing friction down the line.
Re: Brace Yourself for Jump Scares in Yomawari: Lost in the Dark, Coming to PS4 in October
This looks like something I would really enjoy. But somehow I never seem to get around to them.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 434
Danganronpa Ultra Despair girls. It’s a nice change of pace after the visual novels.

Re: Next Ys Game Teased with Artwork, May Have Soulslike Elements
So next time Adol wakes up with no memories the won’t be anyone around to tell him what’s going on and he has to work it out from environmental clues?
They’ve changed the combat a couple of times in the past and it’s always come out good afterwards so I’m not too worried.
Re: Baldo: The Guardian Owls Gets a Ton of Free Content in The Three Fairies Update
I like the look of it. Do we know if the bugs and glitches mentioned in the day one reviews ever got fixed?
Re: Falcom on Bringing Kuro Trails Games West: 'Of Course We Intend To'
@nessisonett Yes they certainly made effective use of the additional power the Vita offered them over the PSP.

If they can come to an agreement that profitable to both parties.
I think it will be similar to EA Play in that you can only use it on PlayStation if you’ve bought it through PlayStation.
There certainly not going to allow people with subscriptions acquired elsewhere to play games on PlayStation.
