Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 526

Having a stellar time playing Stellar Blade. After FF7 Rebirth wore me out I've spent the last few weeks tackling smaller games on the Switch like Another Code, Super Mario RPG, Paranormasight and Ghost Trick. Will be playing this until Endless Ocean Luminous drops. Still need to play Unicorn Overlord though, why must game developers drop so much so close?

Re: Stellar Blade Director Emphasises Importance of 'Single-Player Games with an Ending'

Sam_ATLUS

@DennisReynolds Back in November Push Square published an article announcing that Shift Up was signed on as one of Sony's first second party partners in Korea. This deal is probably similar to something like Quantic Dream where Shift Up develops several games as PS5 exclusives which will get funding, assistance from Sony's XDEV team and be published by SIE as PS Studios games. It'll be interesting to see what else they work on after Stellar Blade

Re: 13 New Games Land on PS Plus Extra, Premium Next Week

Sam_ATLUS

Was actually considering buying Dragon Ball Z Kakarot after Toriyama's death but with the PS5 version coming to Extra that won't be needed. I'll give it a go around May when game releases slow down. FF7 Rebirth, Unicorn Overlord, Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade are gonna keep me busy

Re: Sony Secures Final Fantasy 7 Remake Trilogy as PlayStation Console Exclusives

Sam_ATLUS

Am I the only one not shocked by this? FF7 is such an important part of PlayStation history no way would Sony not try to keep this game tied to their platform when the remake eventually happened. When the game didn't go to Xbox next to the PC release in June 2022 that pretty much settled it for me in the games not coming to Xbox. Many SE games may not perform well on Xbox but FF is their biggest series so SE skipping the platform only made sense in that they had a deal with Sony for doing that

Like many of us here I will be playing Rebirth this weekend. Thankfully I was able to finish Persona 3 Reload in time for it. No idea how I managed two big JRPGs like Infinite Wealth and Reload in a month but I did. March is gonna be just as chaotic with Unicorn Overlord, Hi-Fi Rush and Rise of the Ronin dropping

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 516

With Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth finally finished my attention is now turned onto Persona 3 Reload which I am very much enjoying. It heavily improves on the original and the gameplay is so much better which is one of the issues I had with the original. Just hope I can beat it in time for FF7 Rebirth

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 515

Sam_ATLUS

Another weekend and I'm still playing Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth. Two chapters to go until story is finished and have done most of the game's side content so think I should be finishing things up. After that I intend to start playing Persona 3 Reload which should keep me busy up until FF7 Rebirth

Re: Poll: How Would You Rate the Latest State of Play Showcase?

Sam_ATLUS

Not perfect but easily one of the better State of Plays. Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin both look great, not far off from release. Death Stranding 2 and talks of a new IP with SIE after DS2 development, along with looks at other games. Dave the Diver coming to PS is neat too, started playing on Steam Deck and loved it. Very tempted to double dip

Re: State of Play Announced, Covering More Than 15 PS5, PSVR2 Games

Sam_ATLUS

About time we got one. My expectations aren't high after how lackluster last year's showings were but hopefully this will be better. At least Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade have been mentioned which is a good start, been wanting to see more of those, especially Stellar Blade which went quiet all of last year until 3 days before 2024 where they said it's not coming out (pretends to be shocked)

Re: Game of the Year: #5 - Final Fantasy 16

Sam_ATLUS

Think this is a fair rating for FFXVI. Not for everyone and has flaws but I still had an incredible time with it. The music was incredible, some of the most hype boss fights I've seen and I loved the characters, although the gameplay was hit and miss. Definitely worth trying out, it's one of my favourite games of the year

Re: What Was Announced at The Game Awards 2023?

Sam_ATLUS

@ED_209 Sony is releasing TLOU Part 2 Remaster, Helldivers 2 and Rise of the Ronin in the first three months of 2024, that's more crazy than their 2023 line up which was VR games, Horizon DLC and Spider-Man 2. TLOU2 admittedly is an old title with new content but even then Helldivers and Ronin are new titles dropping

Re: Sony Confirms Strategic Partnership with South Korean Publisher NCSOFT

Sam_ATLUS

@MrMagic It's funny to me people are acting like Jim immediately retired and isn't making any more decisions when he's there until March 2024 and PS is saved now, making great decisions. He's still doing things and with how slow the output has been this gen we probably won't see what his successor does until late PS5 to PS6 gen at this point

Re: Talking Point: Like Japanese Games? Early 2024 Is Going to Destroy You

Sam_ATLUS

Interested in Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth, Granblue Fantasy Relink, Persona 3 Reload, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Unicorn Overload. It's going to be hell in February. I'm incredibly annoyed by SEGA dropping Infinite Wealth and Reload, both games with the potential to be 100+ hours long, a week apart. At least Gaiden and Tactica releasing a week apart are smaller, shorter spinoffs that don't take too long. I'll be stuck into Infinite Wealth when Relink and Reload drop, then by the time I get a moment to jump into those Rebirth will be out, followed by Unicorn Overlord. Tough schedule, I can only hope Nintendo doesn't shadow drop anything on Switch around that time, or Metaphor and Rise of the Ronin don't release too close to any of those. It's nice to get some excellent JRPGs to play on PS5 but not this many at once, give us some breathing room Japanese devs, I beg you

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 503

Sam_ATLUS

Finished the story for Like A Dragon Gaiden last night, amazing conclusion to the story and can't wait to see how things go in Infinite Wealth. Will be trying the Trial version of Infinite Wealth and depending whether to get the Platinum, then I'll carry on Star Ocean Second Story R which I ended up buying last Saturday evening, or start Super Mario RPG which is still sitting in it's case. So many games...

Re: Talking Point: As PS5 Turns 3, How Are You Feeling About It?

Sam_ATLUS

Three years in and these are my thoughts on the PS5:

DualSense controller is one of the best controller, feels great to use and the haptic feedback/adaptive triggers really add to the experience in many games. Jumping into games has been so fast too, it barely takes any time from the home menu to return to a game and loading times feel non-existent at this point. There's been plenty to play on PS5 too, a lot of quality third party games dropping all year. However one of my issues has been the lack of exclusives, next gen only games in particular. Most games that are not just third party but first party have been cross gen, leaving it to feel like the PS5 has not been able to reach the full potential of the console. Some of my most enjoyable experiences were exclusives like Astro's Playroom, Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, Final Fantasy XVI and Spider-Man 2. I can only hope it improves as we get more games like Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronin and Wolverine. However that brings me to another issue which is Sony's communication this generation. Feels like they just drop us small pieces of information when they feel like it. You can argue they aren't announcing stuff too early but at the same time we know very little about their plans and we need a new roadmap now most things have released the past 3 years. PS Plus Premium has also been quite lackluster with it's classic games, we've gotten some nice PS1 games but far and few between. We are getting fed PSP games now and we have yet to see anything like PS2. I was easy on Premium when it launched but it's been a year and a half now, and the offerings aren't exactly improving much.

Overall I'm mostly happy with the PS5. It's a very good piece of hardware that I enjoy to use and makes the gaming experience a lot of fun, exclusive games and the classic offerings are really my big issues three years in.
