Re: Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail Fans Are at War

Shigurui

@Kelrics90 - I think WW will steal a bit of Genshin's lunch money initially but that's about all. That said I do think it has the potential to co-exist quite happily and build a large enough playerbase to thrive but it certainly won't be a Genshin killer. Nothing will.

Re: Pentiment PS5, PS4 Update Fixes the Comically Blunt Platinum Trophy

Shigurui

With that all fixed can you now get onto Naughty Dog and Bluepoint for their comically blunt trophy naming of Uncharted 2, 3 PS3 versions and the PS4 Nathan Drake collection. Where they were so inept they didn't even add the word Trophy to 5 different platinum trophies. They just called them, wait for it.. Platinum. Amateurs.

Re: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Familia Myth Battle Chronicle (PS5) - Breasts, Battles, and Banners

Shigurui

Having a lot of fun with this, combat wise it plays a lot like Ni No Kuni 2 or Tokyo Xanadu. Basic but serviceable. Managed to get a really good squad of characters including Artemis who's the best dps in the game. You can infinitely reroll your first 10 pull until you get something good and right now there's an event that gives thousands of gems and 50 free pulls.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 515

Shigurui

Nights of Azure 2, started it last week so going to crack on with that along with some Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Never played the Sigma version but I played a lot of Ninja Gaiden Black back in the day. It'll be interesting to see the differences between the 2 versions. Have a good weekend all!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 514

Shigurui

A bit of Hades and I'm about to start either Nights of Azure 2 or Ys Lacrimosa of Dana. Have a good weekend all!

@kyleforrester87 - I'm 350 hours into Star Rail and still have no idea what's going on! There's some really good world building and character missions once you get on the train but the main storyline isn't even close to being finished so just go with the flow.

Re: Highly Anticipated Genshin Impact Rival Wuthering Waves Reportedly Bound for PS5, PS4

Shigurui

@ATaco - Sorry mate, I didn't mean to put anybody off. I meant the optional endgame content being difficult. I highly doubt the majority of the game will be overly taxing. Gacha games generally cater to a more casual audience to draw in a huge playerbase.

I expect Wuthering Waves won't stray from that for the most part but it will offer an actual endgame with a certain level of difficulty. Genshin players have wanted that for years but HoYo straight up said no and have stuck to that decision. That's where this game will cater to the players that want that but I expect it will still be approachable.

Re: Highly Anticipated Genshin Impact Rival Wuthering Waves Reportedly Bound for PS5, PS4

Shigurui

This will definitely steal some of Genshin's lunch money, especially as it's a more soulslike game in terms of difficulty where Genshin is a complete pushover with almost no endgame content. Can see a lot of GI players giving it a shot.

@BeerIsAwesome - It bodes very well for the future, these games live or die by their communities and all the changes were made due to community feedback, it shows the devs are willing to listen and react, unlike HoYo who ignore the Genshin community and treat them like idiots. As can be seen right now with the currently ongoing anniversary debacle.

Re: Honkai: Star Rail's Humongous PS5 Update Adds an Entire Planet

Shigurui

@colonelkilgore - I'm not a fan of turn based games myself but I gave Honkai a shot and it really clicked for me. Battles are short with 1 to 3 waves and you get an auto battle option very early on so you can just enjoy everything else it offers and let the game do the fighting for you if need be.

Re: New PS5, PS4 Games This Week (15th January to 21st January)

Shigurui

Misread The Cub as The Club and got overjoyed for 0.5s before realising my mistake lol.

@Bunchesopuppies - You'll get the PS5 version with roguelite if you pay $10 to upgrade from the PS4 version of TLoU2.

@Shinnok789 - You just replied to a 2 year old comment when short stock supplies and scalping were very much a thing.

Re: Soapbox: Hear Me Out! Honkai: Star Rail Is One of PS5's Better Roguelites

Shigurui

@get2sammyb - While I agree the Sim Universe is a great roguelite this article makes out it's something to just jump into.
It gets introduced early enough but takes dozens of hours outside of the mode to get a team capable of beating anything besides the gimme worlds and hundreds of hours to get into the weeds of it all. You should make a point of that.

Re: Game of the Year: Sammy's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2023

Shigurui

Nice top pick! I can't fault the game. I'm all in on Tower of Fantasy though which is borderline broken, often unfathomable and rough as a bears arse all round but that combat system wipes the floor with any of HoYo's current games (imho). Really looking forward to ZZZ from HoYo. The combat in that game looks superb!

Re: Sea of Stars Replaces 'The Completionist' NPC Following Fraud Allegations

Shigurui

@themightyant - He admitted to embezzlement when he said in his apology video that donations had been used to offset costs for his indie game events. You can't tell your donators that 100% of donations go into the foundation if you're using a portion of that money to fund the events. You can use that money to fund the events but donators have to be informed. That is embezzlement.

As for the golf fundraiser money. The donations paid to the foundation didn't include a large amount of that money, it's unaccounted for. All on public record.

Re: Sea of Stars Replaces 'The Completionist' NPC Following Fraud Allegations

Shigurui

@themightyant - 'It feels like the punishment doesn't fit the crime'

He hasn't been punished at all yet, career wise he's absolutely shat the bed but legally, not at all yet.

He has openly admitted to embezzlement. The majority of money made from the golf fundraisers never made it into his foundation coffers and that's been proven beyond doubt. Paying out 600k because your hand is forced means nothing when that money should never have been hoarded.

For years he's been telling donators that their money is going directly to XY and Z and it went nowhere, he lied. How anyone can defend this guy is mind boggling.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 506

Shigurui

@Kyushutrail - Not just me then. On paper Dead Cells is everything I should enjoy but that game is absolutely soulless. Getting a death in stuff like Binding of Isaac or Hades always gives me that 'one more run' vibe, Dead Cells just makes me turn it off. Really wanted to like that game but it doesn't click at all for me.

Re: Talking Point: Is Bungie Really the Right Developer to Aid Sony's Live-Service Push?

Shigurui

Bungie isn't the right dev to lead their own live service game, let alone be the steward of Sony's GaaS projects. If Sony really want to make bank in this space they need to be looking to someone like HoYo.

While I think gacha is abhorrent, they make extremely high quality games that are F2P fair, know how to retain a playerbase with regular content and monetise in a way that attracts millions of low spending players. Obviously Sony couldn't afford to buy HoYo but they should look to their overall model.
