Re: Poll: Do Developers Betray Fans When Player Choice Suddenly Doesn't Matter in an RPG?

Simon_Fitzgerald

Player dialogue choice in the majority of games doesn't have any impact on the overall outcome, when a game does have multiple endings depending on player choice I find it's not as satisfying a story as all the different endings have been focused on rather than the developers focusing on a singular quality ending instead. Player dialogue choice in a game doesn't appeal to me and it also doesn't put me off a game. I think a lot of people get overhyped for dialogue options thinking it means there will be branching story paths and it is almost never the case.

@rjejr Wow a whole 2 years later! I would say this is an excellent VR title and I stand by my review. To be honest I haven't played anything else like it on PSVR since and it's certainly a charming game in terms of presentation. If you enjoy God-like strategy games where you manage people to collect resources then I'd definitely recommend it

@Quintumply @FullbringIchigo Yeah I see how it's a good thing but at the same time if all developers of VR titles start making their games available without PSVR then I can see PSVR getting dropped very quickly by consumers as there is no exclusive content making it worthwhile for them to pick it up. I've had PSVR since launch and tbh nowadays it just stays in it's box because I don't feel as though it's getting enough software that interests me.

@LieutenantFatman It does have a story in the form of short cutscenes but ultimately I didn’t find it to be that interesting and there were very few cutscenes in comparison to gameplay. This type of game doesn’t feel like it needs a strong story as the action and sense of progression is enough to keep you playing.

@RogerRoger I really enjoyed my time with the game but the technical issues caused way too much of a problem for this to score highly. The constant frame rate drops, at some points it felt almost like a slideshow and crashes made this frustrating to play.

@bbtothe only currency is carried over but that is then used to unlock new spells and items that will then be permanently available.
As for time of a run, I’d say about an hour to complete but it may be longer to begin with as you get used to the game.
