Everyone complimenting the format - it was a complete ripoff of Nintendo, even down to the way the news about one game transitioned to the next. I don’t mind Sony going down the same route, as I’ve always enjoyed the Nintendo Directs, but let’s not pretend that Sony invented a brilliant format here.
I thought the content was disappointing (and I own a PSVR). With so much «ok, not great» content, Sony should’ve just dropped the State of Play video online, without an announcement about it a week in advance.
I feel ripped off, yes. I have already spent my money on the AA games I’d like to play, so there’s no value in the «free» games for me. If there was a cheaper version for online play only, I’d probably pay for that, but as it is now, it’s not worth the price for me by a longshot.
Nice feature, but it seems to me the data they pulled are some weeks old, as my second most played game (according to the save file) didn’t even make the top three.
The fact that they track gametime makes med annoyed that I can’t look this up on my own.
@ApostateMage To put the DJ and female footballer in to context, it was the first time ever they have given the Ballon d’Or to a woman. The male winner was not asked the same question.
I’ve never understood the point of making a movie of something, if you’re not going to be faithful to the source material. Why not just make your own IP instead?
I agree with the sentiment, but this still is quite disappointing to me. In my opinion, these mini consoles should consist of the games that made the console iconic in the first place. That some games will miss out due to licensing problems and/or to make sure that the line-up is varied enough, is to expected, but still. The NES and the SNES mini consoles succeeded here for the most part. It missed out on some licensed games (the Turtles games, DuckTales), some heavy hitters were absent (mostly Chrono Trigger), and sometimes they went with a different game in a series than I would’ve preferred (Castlevania II over III, Donkey Kong Country 1 over 2), but they mostly hit the mark.
In my opinion, the list for the PSone Classic, is borderline awful. I can accept that they went with Resident Evil: Director’s Cut over Resident Evil 2, and that they only picked one of the three mainline Final Fantasy games. I can also accept that it’s probably hard (?) to get the licensing rights to Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 or 2. But the fact that all of the following games are missing, is baffling to me:
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Silent Hill
Chrono Cross
Gran Turismo 2
PaRappa the Rapper
Final Fantasy Tactics
Vagrant Story
Ape Escape
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Mega Man X4
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
Xenogears
Crash Team Racing
WipEout
MediEvil
Suikoden 1 or 2
Tomb Raider 1 or 2
Crash Bandicoot 1, 2 or 3
Spyro 1, 2 or 3
Already own iSS and Child of Light, but I'd say this is a good month. Hoping that PSVR games will continue to be included, as this might actually (eventually) make me purchasing PSVR.
@Tasuki While I see no point in discussing this further, this is a discussion about the article at hand, namely that Push Square keeps calling PlayStation Plus games "free games".
@Flaming_Kaiser I'm not sure what you're arguing here. Are you saying that everything in this world (PlayStation Plus included) is "free", since you're paying for something that's worth it? Or are you saying that PlayStation Plus is not "free", but it's worth paying for?
@FullbringIchigo I'm not blaming the system. I'm just pointing out that these games are in no way, shape or form "free". There's a reason Sony never calls them free games.
@naruball The first year of the PS4 was good, but not much better than the Switch. I own 21 games from the PS4's first twelve months, but I could've gotten most of them (or owned them already) on the PS3.
Still haven't completely forgiven them for dropping the ball on TMNT - that seemed like a perfect fit for Platinum Games. But yes, I'd take another NieR game - from their dr. Jekyll side, please.
I still don't know where my money is going, but I'm hoping this will make Push Square stop using the term "free games" when talking anout the games we rent while we subscribe...
The "problem" with all these sales, is that I seldom buy games at full price, because I know I can get them heavely discounted sooner rather than later. But my wallet's more than happy.
I'm going to pick up most of the discounted PSOne Classics. Hopefully, they'll eventually be allowed on the PS4. If not, my dust collecting PS TV may just be my own personal PS One Classic Mini.
I'd swap Gran Turismo for GT2, Resident Evil for RE: Director's Cut, Twisted Metal II for TM III, and Crash Bandicoot for Crash 3. And how about Vagrant Story and Final Fantasy Tactics?
Other to consider: Final Fantasy VIII and IX, Street Fighter Alpha III and Mega Man X4.

I’ll celebrate by finally giving Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag a chance. From what I understand, it’s better than the mediocre Assassin’s Creed III.

Re: Rumour: September's PlayStation Plus Lineup May Be Amazing Again
@Flaming_Kaiser No it isn't it, but it's $5 more than "free".
Re: Rumour: September's PlayStation Plus Lineup May Be Amazing Again
@nhSnork I'd love to continue this argument, but Netflix just added another free movie, so I'm off.
Re: Rumour: September's PlayStation Plus Lineup May Be Amazing Again
@FaultyDroid If you have to pay for something to be free, it's not free.

@lacerz Not really. The license is part of the price, in fact it's probably most of the price at this point.
Re: Rumour: September's PlayStation Plus Lineup May Be Amazing Again
You should really stop calling it "free" software. It's not free if you're paying for it.
