@KidBoruto I personally dunno about the TV show, I never watched it. (Or the graphic novels lol) I've only read the books, and only the first few so far. But from what I've heard the show is pretty in-line with the books at least for the first few seasons.
If you like space operas, it'll hook you right away.
As a huge Souls/Borne fan, I couldn't be any happier for the success FromSoft has had with Elden Ring. Warms my heart, really.
But deep down, I really hope other studios and developers don't jump on the hype-train of Elden Ring open-world design. It works for this game (though that's still more or less debatable, I've talk to far too many people in and outside the community who relied on guides to play the game. And I'm talking more than my own friends. That's a major weakness. Don't hold the players hand, but don't force them to resort to guides to properly progress the game either). All that said, I don't want to see this sort of design in mainstream games. FromSoftware's vision is very clear and that's why this game succeeds. An Assassin's Creed with this game design will only be more disaster.
I love TLOU and am a big Naughty Dog fan, I'll take whatever praise the game gets because it's true. And I don't wanna sound like an *****, but these two can take their praise and shove it up where-I-shall-not-name.
Zero respect for these two and their words and nobody should've asked for their opinions on video games. Stick to your damned cinema...
I remember days when we got bullied for playing video games and a-hs like these two would tell people to "grow up". Now everybody's jumping on the video game bandwagon, seeking success and clout. smh.
I love Syphon Filter series on PS1. It's one of my fondest memories from my childhood. This is a classic that I used to play over and over again. That said, I am never going to try it again.
I would very much play a remake, however. Or an all new game. I really hope the stealth genre makes a come back. I miss Metal Gear Solid, Syphon Filter and Splinter Cell. (Hitman is great, but Hitman's style of stealth is very different)
Saw this over on r/MetalGearSolid earlier today and while had a quick gag, I felt really bad for Kojima-san. It's really messed up that the very topic he used to talk about 20 years ago now has come to hurt him in this way. Truly shows that nobody listens to cautionary tales. People only see Raiden doing naked cartwheels, I suppose. sigh.
Haha, all the giga chads saying Malenia isn't that hard gotta calm down. This guy is good, he deserves all the recognition he gets. Dodging the Waterfowl Dance move is close to impossible, and this dude does it like it's nothing.
As a long time Kojima and PlayStation fanboy, this does not make me sad even one bit. Aside from the project (allegedly being codenamed OVERDOSE), being a cloud gaming project -in which I'm not very interested because of crappy internet on my side of the world- they seem to be focusing on multiple projects.
Norman Reedus outed Death Stranding 2, and Kojima didn't deny it. Neither did he or his team make tweets about it. He just humorously told Norman Reedus to go back to his room!
That said, I'm still excited to see what he's cooking. Whether I'll be able to play it or not will have very little to do with that. The guy is a genius and I'm here to see what he does, regardless of platform.
Woah, I'm not the biggest FF fan, but I love the franchise. I've had a blast on PS4 playing some of the main-line titles (yes, I also liked XV when it came out while it's not a masterpiece it's a nice game and has a good story). But I am hyped!
I'm gonna need to buy a PS5 by the time this game is out, haha
Keanu's character silver-handedly carried the whole game for me. That, and his interactions with V. If they're gonna remove the best thing about the game (imho), I'm not interested anymore.
I've been on-board since 2019! Death Stranding's story ends on a clear note but it leaves more than enough loose ends to warrant a sequel. I'm excited to see what KJP and Kojima-san will do with the sequel. The man is known to make amazing sequels and I cannot wait.
Might be, he'll pull another MGS2 again! Let's go, cuz tomorrow is in our hands.
Funny how I knew most of these, gotta give myself more credit for being an active gamer in communities enough to have heard all of these at least once.
The only one I'd never seen was "kiting" which I've done a lot in Dark Souls. Now I know the name, I always considered drawing enemies away from their starting locations was considered cheesing them. The more you know!
Wow. I don't understand how people are excited for this. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to know it's coming but this is the dumbest way of announcing it.
If you don't have footage, then maybe you shouldn't be announcing it? Here I thought they'd learn from Cyberpunk 2077's premature announcement. Well done, CDPR, keep on hyping another game up again! I'm not gonna hold my breath, CDPR has a lot of redeeming to do. This ain't it.
Kojima and PlayStation have always worked well together. I'm not surprised the relationship continues. Kojima once said, after teaming up with PlayStation when he started KJP again, that Metal Gear Solid wouldn't have been possible without PlayStation. He meant it from a technical standpoint because PS One was the best back then. But I'm sure he also has a certain attachment to the company.
I'm here for it, either way. As long as Hideo Kojima makes games, I'll be sure to play them.
@middyone idk about the fanboys or whatever. I'm a die-hard Souls/Borne fan and have played all of them (except Demon's Souls).
And I'm about 95 hours into Elden Ring. What baffles me is... Everyone's talking about it. I'm glad FromSoft is getting the attention they deserve but at same time I don't understand why. Elden Ring doesn't do anything any different than Dark Souls 3 did. In terms of difficulty, it's harder. Graphics has never been a focus (and Demon's Souls on PS5 still didn't get this much attention despite how it looks, so it's not graphics), more than half the animations in the game are recycled from Dark Souls 3 (and no, that's not bad thing if it reduces production time and cost), level design isn't THAT different from Dark Souls. It's open world, but it is nothing like formulaic/mainstream open worlds. I just don't understand how anyone could like this game and not Dark Souls 3.
I wonder how many of those people finished the game and started ranting "it's too much sci-fi for me" lol.
I finished the game after 90 hours, last week. I'm still playing, on and off, when I need a break from Elden Ring. Forbidden West was all I wanted it to be, and then some.
Aloy is so hot, man. And I'm glad Guerrilla Games doesn't sexualize her like most franchises tend to do so.
Her looks aside, what makes Aloy stand out is her personality. She's fierce and compassionate at the same time. It's rare to see a main character who can be soft, vulnerable and compassionate towards others while being merciless towards her enemies. She tries to avoid violence and bloodshed (even more so in HFW) but when the need arises, her spear is sharp, her arrows steady and she's prepared to take on an entire army.
@JJ2 totally understandable. Getting the average from those parameters, as you sais, is still not good enough but I sure as hell ain't gonna take a reviewer's word for it that Elden Ring (or any other games) is [Insert score] out of 10.
@lolwhatno Exactly! Pros and cons is a great way of quickly evaluating a game if you're not willing to read reviews. (and trust me, I don't read every review either and PushSquare definitely does it right)
@lolwhatno I can see the merit in scores under those circumstances. However, removal of scores would allow people to make wiser choices, because they have to read the reviews and also, it stops debates about scores and fandoms tearing each other apart to prove which game is better.
Of course, the world is not ideal. I just want everyone to enjoy games as I do. Might be selfish, idk.
@lolwhatno my reasoning is that, scores are just numbers and you can't really evaluate a work of such length (video games in general -average playtime seems to be around 15-30 hours now) with scores.
And at the end of the day, it's all subjective. Who's to say my 10/10 isn't a 5/10 for someone else? (and it happens. There are games I'm absolutely crazy about that others abhor or are indifferent about)
Gaming being a serious thing for someone or not isn't really the case here. Even if you're just here to have fun, you wanna spend your money in the right way, and invest in an experience that's worth it. Reviews will give you tips and tidbits to think on, scores don't.
I know my opinion alone doesn't matter, and I know you guys' feelings about the whole debate going on about Elden Ring and its scores. But nevertheless, I refuse to cast a vote and contribute in this.
Elden Ring (so far as I've played) is a solid game and definitely a masterpiece. I just wish we stopped scoring games.
FromSoft deserves this win! After Sekiro winning GOTY, it seems the path for challenging games is being paved.
I welcome it. I enjoy difficult games but really, Souls/Borne aren't that difficult. I'm afraid they're just not games where you can bash your way forward. Each to their own.
I'm a huge fan of FromSoft and have played almost all their games (just haven't played Demon's Souls), and I've been one of the "hollows" in r/EldenRing for the past two years.
At the same time, I fell in love with Horizon back in 2015 when they first showed it. It's like a heaven for me, giant killer robots pitted against primitive tribes, are you kidding me?
Consequently, I will play both these games and I know will enjoy both. I've been too invested in Forbidden West to move onto Elden Ring for the past week, but I'll get to Elden Ring very soon as well. Online debates about which game is better and which one does what better don't interest me.
My only problem with all of this is that, I saw a lot of harsh and negative feedback toward HFW because of its performance issues (that seem to be fixable as Guerrilla Games is releasing new patches) and yet no one is talking about how horrible Elden Ring runs on PS4. I saw my friend playing it and I can only say, while it is beautiful and doesn't bother me personally (like how HFW didn't) I'm kinda tired of the double standards where PlayStation exclusives always get slammed while horribly performing multi-plat games from Bethesda and Fromsoftware get the "well it's their signature" treatment.
I'm obviously biased, but a 10/10 is in order. When I pre-ordered the game, I was replaying HZD for the 3rd time in a row. I've played HZD countless times since its release and I've enjoyed every second of every playthrough.
I expected to get the same game with improved graphics and gameplay. But Forbidden West is so much more. The writing is unbelievable! I haven't heard dialog this good in a long while. (and considering the setting, it's a tough thing to pull off). The side content quality is some of the best in the industry and the new characters are so real I just wish I could spend time with them IRL.
I couldn't have asked for anything else. Nothing but love and respect for people at Guerrilla Games. They're giants and I'm glad they're growing. (maybe they'll let me mop the floor there one day as a janitor?!)
I'd take as many DLCs Guerrilla Games make. Frozen Wilds was an amazing DLC and it's one of my all time favorites (generally not a fan of DLCs and haven't played Iki Island yet).
Aside from that... I'll never say no to Horizon when Aloy is there.
I'm left unbothered by most of the issues, the biggest problem I've encountered on PS4 is the delay in rendering or is that what pop-in is? Idk, it does look weird, but well... I just love it too much to be bothered by it
By god, it deserves where it's at! It's definitely ruining my future as I can't stop playing. Haven't done anything else since release. Glad to see Guerrilla Games are getting the love and support they deserve.
@Pixipantalon I have the same issue as well(on PS4), and for whatever reason turning off motion blur doesn't fix it either. It reduces the amount of blur, but it's still there. Guess I'll just have to wait till they patch the game till I can have fun with photomode!
Yo, as someone who still plays on a launch day PS4, this really warms my heart. Not that I was too worried, I had faith in Guerrilla Games! But I really appreciate this piece.
And I have to agree with Sammy, these screenshots look gorgeous.
They should definitely take their time. I'm not sad or whatever. I just want them to do the games justice while doing their own thing. Adaptations are tricky, and I'm usually not a fan. But at the end of the day, I'm a fanboy...
Awesome, I know I'll be taking part. I think this fits the theme of the game as well, the Blight being (as far as I can tell from the trailers) an environmental crisis.
@lolwhatno Will do! It's a tough choice, I'll give you that. I was pretty damn torn between them myself, but I decided I just couldn't wait for Elden Ring while HFW is out! lol
I'm not saying it's okay for Sony to do this, but if it is really the scalping/skinning scene that's caused... We can't compare it to The Last of Us Part II.
@theheadofabroom I also think reddit users spotted something like a flying mount icon among Aloy's inventory from the new PS4 captured trailer (the one with the Tremortusk), a flying mount has been one of my personally biggest demands, I will lose my mind if it's real, and it seems very likely right now!
I remember when HZD came out and I played it, i immediately talked to my friends about how it doesn't look or feel ANYTHING like the trailers. I firmly believed and still believe that the trailers sold the game short. In a time when we're used to games not delivering what they promise, HZD over-delivered.
I don't know if HFW is gonna be the same or not, but I simply cannot be more hyped at this point. Just one more week to go!

Re: PS Store Sales Charts: Horizon Forbidden West Plays Second Fiddle to Elden Ring
I only wonder how many people bought Elden Ring purely based on its score, and couldn't get past Limgrave.
I'm sure if it was a PlayStation game, people would be rioting now. But oh well... Double standards everywhere.

They should definitely take their time. I'm not sad or whatever. I just want them to do the games justice while doing their own thing. Adaptations are tricky, and I'm usually not a fan. But at the end of the day, I'm a fanboy...
Re: Sony Planting Trees for Unlocking Horizon Forbidden West Trophy
Awesome, I know I'll be taking part. I think this fits the theme of the game as well, the Blight being (as far as I can tell from the trailers) an environmental crisis.
Re: Horizon Forbidden West (PS5) - Excellent Sequel Is a PS5 Essential
@lolwhatno Will do! It's a tough choice, I'll give you that. I was pretty damn torn between them myself, but I decided I just couldn't wait for Elden Ring while HFW is out! lol
Re: Horizon Forbidden West (PS5) - Excellent Sequel Is a PS5 Essential
@lolwhatno Haha, we meet again! I hope you have a great time playing HFW too! only 4 more days to go.
Re: Horizon Forbidden West (PS5) - Excellent Sequel Is a PS5 Essential
Not gonna read the review, but I'll appreciate the time and effort nevertheless! Gonna go in with a blank opinion (however biased lol).
The wait is quite unbearable now lol
Re: Distressing Horror Martha Is Dead Censored on PS5, PS4
I'm not saying it's okay for Sony to do this, but if it is really the scalping/skinning scene that's caused... We can't compare it to The Last of Us Part II.
Re: Horizon Forbidden West's Cinematic Trailer Builds Serious Hype for Next Week's Release
Re: Horizon Forbidden West's Cinematic Trailer Builds Serious Hype for Next Week's Release
Re: Aloy Gets Her Very Own Twitter Emoji Ahead of Horizon Forbidden West
My hype is through the roof! Let's GO.
