I was among the people who thought Playstation games going on PC is gonna be problematic and "devalue" Playstation as a platform. But let's face it, playing any of these games on a PC with a decent framerate and good resolution (the way they're intended) will cost you a lot more. (Unless you're a pirate).
On the other hand, this will bring Playstation games to a whole new market that is actually thirsty for them, aside from new players enjoying these masterpieces, it'll bring in a lot of money for Playstation which will consequently -directly or indirectly- be poured on the new games they make.
It's a win for PlayStation, it's a win for PC players and as a PlayStation player, it's a win for me.
I'm in the same boat as everyone else: I think we've seen enough of HFW and I'm so excited to play it. I'll probably stop myself from watching more because I love to be surprised by things in the game and HFW seems to promise a lot of that.
However, I think the marketing campaign for the game simply demands a show like this near its release, that's how it's always been. Which is usually unnecessary.
I am obsessively replaying HZD again for the second time this week. I've loved Horizon since they first showed it, my mind was blown. I cannot wait for HFW.
Spoilers are no fun, I hope one day folks can understand that.
I've been a Discord user since... 2017? I think. I'm very happy that Playstation has decided to work with them and bring Discord to PSN. It's truly the best communication platform, and having a Push Square server sounds like a great idea. Looking forward to this feature!
Funny enough, I recently finished Mass Effect Trilogy for the first time and I absolutely loved every second of it. I wish EA understood better how much we like these single-player experiences and would give us more, while I'm skeptical I still kinda look forward to seeing Mass Effect 4.
Hell yeah, it's always a delight and a pleasure to be a part of this every year! I've said it before, I'll say it again, I can't thank the judges enough for planning and going through with this event every time. It gives purpose to my otherwise useless screenshots and that's a lot more than I'd want.
The winners are absolutely amazing, congrats to the talented people, y'all are some of the best. Keep up the good work, I hope to see all of you at this event next year! (keep those Horizon Forbidden West shots coming for next year )
Hah, that God of War one definitely puts a smile on my face! Santa Monica never disappoints. Wonder if KJP will be doing one as well, like they always do.
@kejsi-sensei aside from the fact that I'm not from US/UK area and games are pretty expensive where I live, what really discourages me from buying the game right now is the continuous support. But you're quite on point about the possibility of me dropping dead tomorrow XD We humans, right? fragile.
@Milktastrophe Mortal Shell is not a bad game, it's certainly one of the few souls-like games that have new ideas in it and isn't just a Dark Souls wannabe (even though it is very obvious where they draw inspiration from). But Japan's selection is simply amazing. I wish Sony had made Judgement and The Sexy Brutale available for the rest of the world as well...
Sounds good to me, while I'm more excited to see another game from Kojima-san, I totally approve of his team making series as well. I think a TV series directed by Kojima-san, or even an anime, would be a very nice addition to what he's made so far.
So, Giancarlo Esposito gets nominated for Best Performance but Keanu Reeves doesn't? And then there's the whole thing with Returnal that pretty much everyone else has talked about.
@AFCC I am yet to play the remasters (it's gonna be a long time, got a backlog to clear). But I agree that Rockstar could've handled the remaster a lot better, in many ways, this is a lazy cash grab. Still, I think it could be enjoyable because the games, at their core, are what they always were. Some bugs, graphic inconsistencies, and visual glitches can't stop San Andreas from being a classic masterpiece. (Although it baffles me that the games have performance modes/settings even on the new generation.)
Drives me crazy that someone could still be downvoted in this day and age for spending their money the way they want and actually enjoying it.
I have a question for people who are playing Vanguard, as I can't decide whether I'm gonna like it or not.
I immensely enjoyed MW 2019 multiplayer, but really hated CW and how they'd downgraded some of the mechanics/features. Would I like Vanguard? do you think it's more like CW or MW? (I know they're all in different historical periods and that has an impact on the gameplay, but I found CW's general feels very in line with COD:WWII)
As Ralizah said, the machines are where it's at. I've always been fascinated and interested in Guerilla's mechanical designs. They have a great grasp of sci-fi elements and know how to make them look cool. This game is gonna blow me away, I'm sure of it.
I have zero issues with games releasing on PC, but only as far as it's not on the same day as Playstation. And even in the case, Sony starts releasing games on PC day one, I have zero right or power to complain.
It's been fun having exclusive games on a console, I suppose the world is moving forward and this is the best for everyone.
They definitely wanna ride that Dune hype train, as a fan of Dune, I'm not complaining. I think it looks pretty fun and cool. What I don't understand is people complaining about NMS updates? I'm not even a player anymore, but I like it when a company is constantly improving a game. We should be grateful they're not charging for every new feature/content they add. Cuz you bet any other studio/publisher would've milked it for money.
I was interested in this game up until I saw this trailer just now.
Just what the hell is going on? That gameplay reminds me of Just Cause 2! (you could even argue Just Cause 2 was 10 times better). No music? Not even a single line of dialogue?
I never thought I'd ever see an open-world game deader than Night City, but it seems Saints Row is out to prove me wrong. It doesn't look terrible, but it sure feels like that.
There's still time for them to fix it, but it looks really rough as it is. I wish they never had shown this to the public.
Mhm, looks pretty good to me. And these are probably unprocessed photos taken lazily from the sets. I bet the final look of the show will end up being a lot better too. Looking forward to this!
I think I understand why a lot of people don't like this, but I can't explain why, if that makes sense.
I like it, though, I'd hate for this to turn out to be another letdown. Looking forward to having some chaotic fun. Not generally a huge fan of the series, I've only played some and never really dug into any of the games. This one looks good.
It is weird. And it's such a delicate matter. Honestly, controlling your character is such a trivial thing, I think anyone can figure that out.
I enjoy my games without tutorials. A game like Sekiro (however, Sekiro does teach you things as you progress) is a blessing. I remember when I first played Control I was over the moon because it didn't hold my hand and tell me everything right away. But I understand that a lot of people might find that boring/problematic.
So I suppose the only real fix any developer can give us is to give us a choice. Say, before starting your new game you're asked whether you'll need full tutorials or not.
It's about time games improved the accessibility options. I imagine The Last of Us Part II is a godsent in that sense.
This could be promising. As an old and avid fan of the series, I want nothing more than to revisit GTA San Andreas. However, having seen the GTAV PS5 "enhanced" version, I'm not very hopeful that these will be any different than the originals.
My hope is that they improve controls and general gameplay, making it smoother. (I haven't played Mass Effect remasters yet but I hear they've done a good job on modernizing the controls and gameplay so it doesn't feel aged) That'd be really amazing and worth the money for sure.
@Grimwood I obviously can't speak for others, and I'm not that much interested in Far Cry 6 myself either. But I believe mediocrity is needed in order to recognize the greatness in other works. And I don't think there's anything wrong with being interested in something mediocre, especially when it comes to art where opinions vary.
In any case, I hope this game does well, even though I'm quite pessimistic about it. Ubisoft hasn't done anything to raise my intrigue in many years.
When PlayStation decided to quit E3, I trusted them. If you look back at the past 25 years of video games, Sony has been on the top and has always been a pioneer. When they take a step towards something, it's a safe bet to trust them.
Fanboyism aside, Geoff Keighley distanced himself from E3 too, for his own personal reasons. Like him or hate him, Geoff has done a lot for video games media and continues to do so.
So that was another sign that E3 is going to die. And I like how Sammy describes it here. Desperate... indeed.
I don't like E3 anymore, we just don't need it. It's sad because E3 used to be a really exciting time for me and my friends. Now it's just a disappointment.
Oh, I love this.
Kojima-san was clearly inspired by Souls/Borne multiplayer elements and implemented a new form of loosely playing online in Death Stranding. The mechanics that inspired that game have now inspired Miyazaki-san to bring something similar to that in his own game.
I love it when creators inspire each other and at the end of the tunnel of their inspirations, we players benefit.
Don't want to judge a game by its trailer/info, but it sounds like Elden Ring is going to surpass all of Fromsoftware games. Fromsoftware is one of the very few developers out there that have consistently put out amazing games that improved with every instalment/spiritual successor.
This is delicious news! Fromsoftware's formula is one of my favorites, and it keeps evolving and getting better with each game they put out. Can't wait!
@Residentsteven well, in that case, I suppose you never really cared about Avatar's sequels either. Seems to me, the delay is just an excuse for an indifferent crowd who didn't even like the first movie in the first place.
@Residentsteven Definitely not gonna compare the two movies, but Blade Runner got a sequel after, what 30 years? and everyone still cared as well as new fans. The two movies couldn't be any more different, but the time it takes for a sequel to come out doesn't really matter, if it's good... it's good. The quality's all anyone cares about.
@kuu_nousee Fingers crossed I can secure a next-gen console till next January, otherwise, I have to play this one on 30fps. Still, gorgeous game, it's worth it anyway.
How much did they have to enlarge Geralt to look the same size as Henry Cavil in that poster? lol
Jokes aside, I'm not sure what to expect from this? Witchercon sounds cheesy and bad, and while I always welcome news about the franchise the bitter taste of CDPR's latest f-up hasn't left my mouth yet. Don't get me wrong, I love The Witcher and I look forward to the second season of the Netflix show. (Hopefully, with the raised budget and how well it did, they've fixed the ***** aesthetics of the show?)
@Flaming_Kaiser I'm all for entertainment for the sake of entertainment. I have no problem with that, I enjoy mindless fun as much as the others. But that's not the argument, the argument is when the game presents itself as a "profound" commentary on certain issues but dodges the themes left and right. I'm barking at Ubisoft because they label their games under Tom Clancy's name, who wrote political fiction thoroughly exploring the same themes.
Tom Clancy games have become a hot mess of nothingness. They keep making dumb games that on the surface want to talk about the modern political issues we're facing, but when you play the game they completely dismiss those issues and just want you to have "fun".
Neil Druckmann has repeatedly tweeted about this and I couldn't agree more. If your work includes moral/philosophical themes, then your work is inherently political. Ubisoft wants to have those moral/philosophical standpoints and yet distances itself from the politics of Tom Clancy games.
And this is another one of those things. They wanna make money off Sam Fisher but they're not willing to make a Splinter Cell. Mark my words, when they do make a new Splinter Cell game, it'll be a really really bad rip-off of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those people who keeps saying Splinter Cell is an MGS rip-off. Quite the opposite, I really like Splinter Cell and it had some original ideas for the tactical espionage genre. But Ubisoft only wants to make open-world games now, and Splinter Cell was never open world. It just doesn't fit the bill. Kojima, however, managed to pull that off. He made a decent stealth game that is open world (It's arguably still the best tactical stealth game out there). Having played some of Ghost Recon Breakpoint, I can tell you they ripped off MGS5 mechanics very poorly in that game. It won't be surprising for Ubisoft to do the same with a Splinter Cell.
Sorry for the block of text, I just felt like ranting a little.
It may be wishful thinking, but he may be alluding to the possibility of a PS4 port, that is simply downgraded. Perhaps we're still getting a fully PS5 version that utilizes the full potential of the hardware.
I don't see why everyone keeps saying it seems to be something Hideo Kojima does. I know he's unexpected, but come on!
This whole thing seems shady, true. But I really dont think if Kojima would go an pull the same stunt again. Just that we're suspecting it's Kojima is probably enough reason that it's not.
I remember the whole thing about Kojima, Murat Pak and Archillect back when Death Stranding was announced. Everyone was convinced Kojima was Murat Pak. When things got too shaby and Pak took the ruse to the next level, Kojima came clean and denied any and all connections, and so did Pak.
This was to be expected. To be frank, I'm even surprised Horizon Forbidden West is still keeping the release window of 2021. The pandemic has been rough on everyone, some more than the others. Delays now are expected from major AAA games.
@sqxrz Yes, I understand and I don't mean that the entire crowd consists of those haters, again as I say I hate to generalize any group of people, let alone players who choose to play on other platforms. But we can't discard the fact that some people are just butthurts. But I totally agree about this being the same group of people (at least somehow related to those) who outraged about Part II and other games.
@Richnj Truly, Aloy has gone through many reiterations through development cycles. And not just Aloy, the entire game has, if we're being honest. I highly doubt we'll see much change now in HFW (as I personally see no reason for fundamental changes, at least in the case of Aloy's face), but we can never rule out the fact that games are subject to change while in development.
@sqxrz the "fan" made model was created as satire, the user who made it posted it on r/gamingcirclejerk mocking the people who are upset about how she looks saying "I made a non-political Aloy" Which people took seriously on Twitter and began ranting with. It's just dumb Twitter drama.
It's the same as before, I don't wanna generalize but I've seen this happen before with Death Stranding and Part II. Some people on other platforms are upset they can't play the game so they begin sh!**ing on it for dumb reasons. (They called Death Stranding a playable movie and just another walking sim while it was on PS4 when it came out on PC, the game suddenly became GOTY, the same goes with Forbidden West if it comes out on PC one day... the entirity of Twitter will praise it) They're just trying to steal the game's thunder, I'm afraid. And gladly, they're failing
Listen, the model hasn't changed significantly. In fact, the difference is so subtle I really doubt anyone even noticed it at first until the comparison videos/pics came out.
Fact is, the comparisons are off. Everyone's ignoring the angle of the shots and the difference in lighting. Yes, her face is just a little bit rounder than before but that's it. The expressions on her face is also different than the pictures from HZD. In HZD Aloy's face usually had these long-face expressions where she was shocked whereas here... it's a totally difference expression.
All these aside, this is a speculative game set in a thousand years after the collapse of society. The rules/norms of how someone is attractive don't apply to this society anymore.
I also don't get what the ***** is wrong with Ellie? Do these people really just want Instagram models in their games? Lara Crofts with big ti**ies and perfect faces?
They've obviously improved a LOT in terms of environmental design (even though HZD's environments are still some of the best out there). I hope the PS5 version gets ray tracing, missed opportunity with this gorgeous world.
I don't see why some say Aloy looks younger, though! In any case, I don't think it's been a long while since Frozen Wilds events. I love the new models, Erend looks so much better now!

Re: Splinter Cell, The Division, Ghost Recon Crossover Game Leaks Ahead of Ubisoft Forward
Re: Splinter Cell, The Division, Ghost Recon Crossover Game Leaks Ahead of Ubisoft Forward
Re: PlayStation Studios Boss Suggests God of War Ragnarok, Gran Turismo 7 Are Also Coming to PS4
It may be wishful thinking, but he may be alluding to the possibility of a PS4 port, that is simply downgraded. Perhaps we're still getting a fully PS5 version that utilizes the full potential of the hardware.
Re: Remember Abandoned? A PS5 App Will Let You Watch Its Trailers in Realtime
Re: God of War Ragnarok Delayed to 2022 for PS5, Sony Confirms
This was to be expected. To be frank, I'm even surprised Horizon Forbidden West is still keeping the release window of 2021.
The pandemic has been rough on everyone, some more than the others. Delays now are expected from major AAA games.
Re: Aloy Trends As Fans Discuss Horizon Forbidden West Hero
Re: Aloy Trends As Fans Discuss Horizon Forbidden West Hero
Re: Aloy Trends As Fans Discuss Horizon Forbidden West Hero
Lara Crofts with big ti**ies and perfect faces?
gimmie a break, man
Re: Horizon Forbidden West Comparison Shows Improvements Over Zero Dawn
They've obviously improved a LOT in terms of environmental design (even though HZD's environments are still some of the best out there). I hope the PS5 version gets ray tracing, missed opportunity with this gorgeous world.
I don't see why some say Aloy looks younger, though! In any case, I don't think it's been a long while since Frozen Wilds events. I love the new models, Erend looks so much better now!
So hyped for this game, cannot wait.
Re: Poll: Are You Sold on Horizon Forbidden West?
Yes, yes I'm sold. I was sold when I finished HZD and saw the after credits
Re: Gallery: Soak Up the Coastal Sunshine in Horizon Forbidden West Screenshots
Bloody brilliant, mate! This game is knocking the first one out of the park already. And that's what a sequel should be. Can't get enough of this.
