To be honest I don't think the endgame of Trails from Zero will make much sense without some kind of familiarity with the world and the lore. Steel 1 and 2 may make some sense but 3 and 4 not so much. I may be biased since when I preordered Steel 4 I played Sky 1,2,3, watched playthroughs of the Crossbell games and then I played Steel 1,2,3. I obviously rushed the games playing them in the easiest difficulty and used walkthroughs but still I don't really know how I did all this.
I have ordered the 64gb model actually and waiting the delivery. I would love to tinker with it, do Linux stuff, install Windows 11, play some Indies, install Retroarch and Launchbox, try xCloud, Game Pass etc. However, it seems that I should have ordered the 256 model to make dual boot easier. Not that I could afford the more expensive SKU at this point and you can order only the model you chose back in July. Having loved the Vita and being so and so on the Switch this console-pc hybrid seems to have the horse power I would like.
OK now I am somewhat angry. THERE IS NO WAY TO TRANSFER THE SOUNDTRACK from the console app to a USB drive. Same with the comic. 20 euros wasted in the digital deluxe edition. Not that it mattered that much since only volume 1 is included!
From a quick search seems that a lot of games do this. I was just lucky that Final Fantasy 7 Remake and some other games I have the soundtrack from psn did not do this.
I loved the Ryza series and have all the platinum trophies in those games since the OG Rorona. The game is already preloaded in my PS4 and ready for the midnight launch!
@Korgon Oh my God, what you reminded me... I was so angry with the Cold Steel 4 fiasco. I started some months before the CS4 release from Sky FC and played and beaten the games in order. I beat CS3 one day before the CS4 and I couldn't play it for days!
I love the Atelier games. I have multiple platinum trophies on almost all of them and last year I 100% beaten Ryza 2 on Switch, PS4 and PS5. However, I don't think Sophie 2 is what I wanted. The Mysterious Trilogy is my least favorite one. There didn't seem to be an overarching story and I would very much prefer a Ryza 3 or a Dusk sequel. That being said the game looks very interesting however we yet again have the 115 euro ultimate edition. I guess those supe expensive versions are here to stay. This is way more expensive than ultimate editions of more maistream games.
It may be an unpopular opinion, but I can't stand Miles, he is one of the blandest and generic characters that wore the mantle, and I cannot understand why he must be introduced in all major adaptations of Spidey like this game, the recent tv series etc. I cannot recall any story that miles was the focus that I really enjoyed: Spider-Men, Civil War 2... At least the his cameo in Life Story was interesting. And in the game, after they changed Peter's actor, they made him seen younger than Miles.
By the way I loved the end in Spider-Man. I loved the connection and how it was forged between Peter and the final boss.
For some reason all the Atelier games are on discount, not only the Ryza ones. I think it is time to complete my collection. I have the Vita ports but it is good to have them in a more modern platform.
To be completely honest before this article I had no idea that this game even existed or that it was even a time exclusive. I may have clicked on an article sometime ago but I have forgotten about it.
@rachetmarvel Kotal Khan is one of the characters that was off in MK11. There were many others too. The former female lead and my favourite character Sonya is a victim too. You could say its due to motherhood, but her personality is way different. As for Mileena se looks way off in MK11.
It is not weird to like the new look of Kitana. It sure has its fans. I personally liked her MK9 appearance more but this is most due to nostalgia since the costume was similar to the former ones.
Nostalgia and familiarity is why I am into the story of MK. The lore is simply a cheesy "hit the bad guy" but it is charming to see characters like Sonya, Sub Zero etc. that I loved playing as a kid interact with cinematic cutscenes now that technology allows it.
As for Blazblue I love it but it became confusing as the story progressed. I had NO idea melty blood has a fighting game, thanks for the heads' up.
@Arnna I am not sure this is speculation. I see games like MK9, Arkham Batman series, Dead or Alive been criticized for the sexualised female characters only while some male characters in those games are also way over sexualised. In MK's case this is a strange critique due to the way over the top violent nature. Games may have been made from men to men in the past but the male characters usually were over the top. As for Mortal Kombat it was never a kid friendly game. Sexualised characters was a part of it. There are other fighting game series that don't focus on this. Some female characters in MK10 and 11 feel like completely different people in both appearance and writing/character.
@WallyWest @Arnna I really don't get this. We are ok in Mortal Kombat with oversexual male characters and not female ones even though this was a tradition in the series and almost all characters were shown to be almost equally strong? The different portrait of my favourite character Sonya Blade makes no sense in MK 11. She looks way off. Same for Kitana and some male characters too.
I loved MK9. However, in 10 and 11 they toned down the sexualization of a lot of characters for some bizarre reason to the point where I think that they don't know what their target group was. In 11 I was not a big fan of the main menu and of how the game tried to make you spend more money in stuff with all those paid expansions like the real ending that was locked in a paid dlc. Still the game was very fun though. I look forward to what they do next.
So a while ago while Cold Steel 3 was new I started from the very beginning. I played the Sky trilogy on steam (oh I am not a fan of PC gaming but the fast forward button was useful). Then I watched the fan translated Crossbell games on YouTube. After I was finished Cold Steel 4 was up for pre-order. I played all 4 games on PS4. I completed the project around Christmas last year. To be honest I played the games in the easiest difficulty and with the fast forward button but still it is a monumental task to say the least. I thought we would have Hajimari sooner but the localisation team is not that huge and it is understandable.
I ordered a physical copy yesterday! Yet another game with the physical version missing content!
Very good game though, highly recommended. It is currently on Game Pass if you want to try before buy.
@TheFrenchiestFry Thanks, I tried it but it only shows the same game as the Vita... I guess they are not available in my region or the above list is more UK/Mainland Europe. Alone in the Dark, Klonoa, Loaded and more are missing.
I will try via PSP and Vita TV and if I see more games I will post again.
Edit: Vita TV same games as OG Vita. PSP has almost nothing.
So, we can still download older games and PS Plus games. Moreover, if we buy after the closure, a cross-buy game we can still download all versions. As a first glance I wonder if PS3/PS Vita cloud saves via PS Plus will still work.
@get2sammyb Thanks for this article, it is spot on. I have talked about gaming preservation a lot in the forums and it is a topic that personally interests me.
As a side not Nintendo will make Wii eshop downloads unavailable in an undiscosed future time: "The ability to re-download WiiWare and Virtual Console games will also stop at some point. We will announce specific details as that time approaches." https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27560/p/604#s1q2 I think the legality of this in the European Union is questionable.
This whole situation may become a mess. Game preservation in those systems may become troublesome.
In PSP you can theoretically "copy-paste" the digital games (PSP is recognized as a USB drive in Windows 10) from the console to the hard drive and then "copy-paste" them back to the same PSP or a different tied to the sma account. However, it does not work well. Some games keep telling me that I do not have the license and I have to redownload it. In previous years you could use the "Media Go" program to back up but the software is disconitued. It is a pain to browser the download list.
In PS3 you cannot store games in external HDDs but you can do a whole system backup. However, you cannot use "big" HDDs. Still it is a pain to download your old games or update the installed ones. It can oly be done manually and you can only do one update at a time.
In Vita you can use Sony's software to back up Vita, PSP and PS1 games in a Windows 10 PC or a PS3. You can use SD2Vita to install up to 100 bubbles/folders in the console in up to 512GB SD card. It is a pain to download in the Vita console from the Vita itself. You can use a PS3 but most games are not there.
The probles are that you cannot search the dowload list. If the older servers close and you cannot register a console and the older one bites the dust you lose the digital content but this is a worst case scenario.
To be honest the PSP console store has closed for years. You can still redownload games or download new ones but now you can only buy them from the PS3 store. It would be bad if you could not download old titles, although it is a chore to do it. Currently in the Vita download list you cannot search or filter the games and shows all digital items you own! It is a mess. Sometimes the PSP somehow forgets that I have a valid digital licene. It was a pain but I slowly backed up all my PS3, PSP and Vita digital content while updating them to the current versions and saved them to multiple locations.
It is an EU problem. You cannot add the PS5 version because I have the "Crash Bandicoot™ 4: It’s About Time - Tracker". Basically, it is the same problem as Trails 4 when I couldn't download my preorder.
It was hilarious when I firstly encountered the drift in the Switch joycon. Miriam was automatically running towards a boss in Bloodstained and Rex was randomly running around in Xenoblade!
Wow they actually casted as Sonya Blade (my favourite MK character) someone who actually looks like her! I was afraid of a Lara Croft / Wonder Woman situation.
Before the Storm is my favourite game in the series. LiS2 was a bit off in many areas, mainly the plot was boring or made no sense if you are not familiar with the aspects presented. In the first game I couldn't stand constantly trying to save a certain character.
I have Atelier Ryza 2 preordered. I thought it would be my last PS4 game (my last PS3 game was also from the Atelier series) but there are the new YS and RE for preorder and Horizon 2 will be on PS4 as well.

@lolwhatno Well Nintendo usually is easily forgiven for almost anything. People said it is fine then. It sure is in my opinion.
@MaxDiehard Well I have a SSD nvme 512gb somewhere lying around but in valve's video changing the HDD seems harder than your average Windows laptop.
