If you want a laugh try to play the PS4 version from the Disk without the patches. It literally runs like a slow motion replay from a football game. The patched version works fine though.

Do we know if it is cross buy with the PS5 version?

Edit: to answer my own question my digital version preorder says PS4 & PS5 now so I guess it is cross buy which is neat

Meanwhile I started playing the fan translation of Kuro 2.

Kuro 1 may be indeed announced tomorrow but since the other games are fresh, I think it will come out in at least a year from now.

@MagisterMagi The Sega games are very different from the Nintendo ones. The Nintendo ones are kind of similar to one another though.

@ArcticSin I was speaking what hypothetically would be good for Microsoft, not what would be good for PC gaming! I am not very familiar with PC gaming anyway; I only have a Steam Deck and even though I work in both Linux and Windows I very much prefer Windows. Seems that the stores on PC don't really compete though.

That said Proton is very good as an alternative but there are arguments in both sides. Windows 11 work good in the Steam Deck if you have a fast SSD, albeit a bit slow. You get more compatibility but loose some stuff from Steam OS like changing TDP in the fly etc.

I have no connection to Nintendo, its characters and its franchises at all. That said imagine Zelda made by Nintendo in modern and not dated hardware available day one in Game Pass... How many would subs it would get!

On a more serious note though, wouldn't Valve make more sense if Microsoft would buy another company? Imagine the stores merging and buying a game once and be able to play on PC, Xbox or Steam Deck without any hustle. Microsoft store is not as bad as it was since Game Pass was introduced and it offers cross buy with Xbox but imagine cross buy with Steam as well. Even now the stores don't compete that much, most of the time they have the same discounts...

@__jamiie In the end it comes down to what games you play the most. Games like Sonic Origins and Blasphemous do not play that well with this circular off position dpad in the Series S controller. The controller is perfect in the other aspects though.

More on the topic, it may be an unpopular opinion but I would much rather have a 30 to 40 € simple controller with only rumble and a big battery, like some 8bitdo models, not 80+ € controllers of questionable durability with underutilized features. Since when buying a controller became such an investment?

In any case if Microsoft made a controller with symmetric sticks and proper dpad I would buy it day one.

@DennisReynolds Steam has the PS4 version of the game for some bizarre reason while it should have the PS5 one with scalable options in case you have PS4-era hardware.

@Fiendish-Beaver What you describe with the police in UK has happened along Europe in almost all jobs in the 2010's. It is not unheard of. The countries simply had no money to pay the pensions.

As for the topic I do not know to code in Unity and how convenient it is but it seems like the damage is done and the trust is broken.

@Shad361 You are right that some of the special forces characters are redundant but to kick out all of them? At least Sonya and maybe Jax could be in the initial roster instead of one or two of those that look the same.

I am still a bit turned off by the initial roster and the bizarre character choices for the DLC. I mean no Sonya, no special forces and it seems that almost all models are identical? I don't know I may wait for the inevitable Komplete edition.

It is VERY odd and bizarre, and I didn't like that the backers learned the release date in a random Nintendo presentation that many would not care about or by a news article that is easily missed and not by a backer update. They still have not issued an update.

The same thing happened when Xbox announced that the game will be released in Game Pass with them informing the backers days later.

Wow Square Enix spoiled the game casually on Twitter and in the PS Blog. I would prefer if they didn't say this.

So, sooner rather than later we will have a PC port of Rebirth, hopefully Steam Deck verified! I don't know what to do, buy it on PS5 or wait ? I guess I won't resist revisiting my favourite game of all time

The game is up on Steam for preorder, 28,99€ with 20% launch discount (23,19€ total).

So, the only true semi-exclusive is Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. To be honest it is the only game from the listed that I care much about. Silent Hill 2 and Tekken 8 are fine, but they may end up in my Steam Deck down the line.

OK I just remember the other bizarre thing: you cannot back up PS5 saves in a USB!!

There have been in fact some smaller PS4 updates within the last couple of months that were the generic "stability update".

I don't like the clattered mess that is the PS5 UI and the painfully slow storage menu but there is only one feature I want:

Check for updates and update ALL GAMES regardless of where they are installed.

Why is this so hard? Steam does it automatically and Xbox has an option to do it.

@Templedoom You are 100% correct. Second hand market is perfect for retro or out of print games but one should try to give a bit of money, even if is very little, back to the developers.

In addition to that, depending on where you live, if you order online you will face huge shipping costs, custom imports fees, import tax etc.

The story is bad and very cliche at this game. The game ends in a very unspectacular and anticlimactic fashion.

Gameplay and exploration is cool though. I played the game in PS4 launch model and the performance was surprisingly very good. Hope the PC version is Steam Deck verified.

I have backed digital versions for all books from Sandeep Rai and I enjoyed all of them. I highly recommend them.

Also, the digital editions are very reasonably priced.

I don't like Gunn's movies and I don't want him to change Batman or Superman to some bizarre caricature that jokes all the time or is goofing around.

@General_Disarray For me personally the Snyder movies are the best comic book movies. I think Batman V Superman and the Snyder cut of Justice League are very good, some goes for Watchmen.

As for Gunn's movies I can't stand them. I mean in all his movies the characters act goofier and goofier, always joking around. They may be more goofy that the G1 Transformers. This is certainly not what I want from DC. This The Suicide Squad movie is very bad. Gunn is perfect for Scooby Doo but not for DC.

@DennisReynolds I get what you say that those characters will sell and it is cool for anyone that likes the characters to enjoy playing as but I was obviously speaking for myself that I prefer MK characters. MK does not have an official forum but I would like to know what the core fanbase thinks of this.
And having never played a COD except the Vita game I am not familiar with its fanbase.

Still though those characters are on shows in streaming services that are not available in my region.

After the initial announcement I tried to see Peacemaker and it was bad. Then I saw that it was from a director that I really hate his superhero movies that now is the head of DC for some reason.

All this semi uknown guest character non sense plus having those characters instead of original Mortal Kombat ones in addition to the bizzare choices in the art direction of some characters have sort of killed my excitement for the game. In any case I will get a copy if I find it cheap or if they release the komplete edition.

All this while the main story of Kuro 2 is almost 100% fan translated.

We still don't know if the PS4 version of Metal Gear will arrive the same day as the PS5 one or if the version will be cross buy?

I love my PS2 and I am a supporter of emulation and video game preservation! That said, excluding games from SEGA that will not come to any official emulator anyway, and the Silent Hill games most of PS2 classics from Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, Resident Evil and even games made by Sony have modern and even PS4 versions.

I only pay Essentials for cloud saves since I don't have time to play online. Cloud saves should have been free or movable via USB. I guess I will subscribe only for the month I need the cloud saves

Cool, I can confirm that the games will be free if you have the old PSP, PS Vita, PS3 version.

I just got the platinum in RE4 Remake on PS4. To be honest the game runs great. It loads only when you lose or between chapters. I have also beaten most cross gen releases in the PS4 (Horizon FW, GOW Ragnarok, Miles Morales, RE Village) and others and I didn't think I missed much except the load times.

That said I have no idea about Star Wars, yet alone this game.

I voted for Cloud but I also have a soft spot for Lightning, she is very cool. I also enjoy the character journey of Cecil

@wiiware Obviously, in the end of the day it some criticism may be exaggerated for trolling of simply for fun but why it is so bad to critic artistic decisions, especially in iconic characters? Moreover, this "uglification" is slowly starting to become a norm...

@DennisReynolds Thanks, I didn't know that Direct Storage finally gets implemented. Strange to think that Microsoft hasn't used Direct Storage yet even though it is supported on Xbox.
This actually kind of explains the lack of a PS4 port, although they could still have done it somehow. They are many PS4 games that mask the load times, I play RE4 these days and the game only loads if you lose of between chapters.

Edit: OK on proper evaluation in still makes no sense. R&C is Steam Deck verified (i.e. playable from Micro SD card) and playable in Linux in mechanical drives and Linux obviously doesn't support Direct Storage...

@DennisReynolds It certainly strikes as old how a game only possible in PS5 can be played in PCs less powerful that the PS4 even if you factor the bigger development time. In any case it is still kind of cool playing PS5 games in the Steam Deck

Still the problem is that both Peter and MJ don't look like the comics or how they looked like in the previous game. Isn't Peter close to its thirties in this Universe, he looks younger than Miles!

Visuals were a step forward but even though the game is fun to play it makes you think that it is a bit unnecessary. Firstly, the bizarre trope to redeem the evil characters continues yet again.

What I did not like is that they threw Rean's social links in the toilet and flushed it, as was the trend with all Cold Steel games. There seems to be only very minor references to the woman you have chosen as girlfriend. I was not a fan of the Rean harem theme since some possible choices seemed way unethical and all other male characters were stripped of possible romantic interests but the game forgets so it doesn't really matter in the end.

The biggest problem with the narrative was that Crossbell seems to be taken by another force every other Tuesday. There is a rehash of storylines in Reverie. Crossbell doesn't look like how a moder country should function, even in the concept of "videogame logic".

@DennisReynolds I am not sure where the majority of the "core" MK fans hang out but if you go so subreddits etc. the reception to the guest characters is mixed. A portion of the fans clearly prefers characters from MK and not random guest characters. I get that they sell well but MK has a lot of iconic characters that are absent from one game or other. I mean, for example, Sonya is not yet confirmed to be in MK1 but we have Peacemaker so ...

As for those three it is not that they are Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. HBO is not available in a lot of regions. Where I live there is also no Amazon store and we only just have the video service since the launch of Lord of the Rings.

I still can't get why they announce DLC characters without us knowing the full roster. And I still think that most people don't know who those three are, I seriously didn't and checked them after the rumors. Also, I don't follow the MK fanbase that much but from the little I know they don't like guest characters, they want iconic characters from the series.
