Re: Returnal Dev Has Expanded Workforce for Next PS5 Project

eagletrippin

Returnal is still my favorite game of all time β€” I still jump back in every couple weeks to play it through. I still never forget the feeling I had of first playing it, and how immersed I felt being trapped on some alien planet. Like everyone has already said, can't wait to see Housemarque's next project.

Re: PS5 Firmware Update Finally Changes How Game Discs Work

eagletrippin

@carlos82 You should be able to...unless it's something unique to Fallout. I have the disc version of AO Tennis and (weeks before this firmware update) I was able to download the free PS+ version of the game. Once I downloaded my save file from the cloud, I was able to use my created player.

Re: PSVR2 Early Adopters Are Struggling to Find the Sweet Spot

eagletrippin

I don't think the problem is so much about finding the sweet spot --- it's that the sweet spot is so small.
A little bit off-center and you get ghosting/chromatic aberration...especially bad as you look towards the edges of the lenses. Also very noticeable with viewing text, and 2D screens like PS dashboard or GT7 game menus. I'm finding that in many games, once you are playing the game itself, it's less of an issue.
Nevertheless, it's sounding like it's just the nature of VR lenses/headsets at this point in the technology.

Re: PSVR2 Sense Controllers Aren't Working for Some Early Adopters

eagletrippin

Sometimes it seems pushing the analog sticks is inaccurate, like pressing right registers as pushing up, etc. Could just me, or I'm still adjusting to this very odd button/stick layout of these controllers...
Nevertheless, I haven't experienced the issue of the controllers not working in-game. Hopefully those affected can get them replaced quickly or Sony releases a software patch quickly.

Re: PSVR2: How to Reduce Motion Sickness

eagletrippin

Oof, I'm recovering from having pushed things too far with the Star Wars demo. I figured I would turn off snap-turning, and turn on free move. I felt okay for the first 10 minutes, then took a break to wash dishes. Returned and played maybe 15-20 minutes...and this broke me. That raging hangover-type headache from PSVR1 returned. Laid down and closed my eyes for a good hour, feeling a little better now. Learned my lesson, will take baby steps with free move from here on out...or will stick with snap-turning forever.

Re: PSVR2 Early Adopters Are Struggling to Find the Sweet Spot

@jrt87 That is a bit of a hot take. Do you even own it? For one, every product release worth its salt has review embargos leadings days up to its release. Were you expecting full reviews 3 months out from release? Second, it is an imperfect product. But don't make this out to be Cyberpunk 2077. It's a great experience even despite its few shortcomings.

Re: PSVR2: How to Fix Blurry or Unclear Image Quality

eagletrippin

@Kwakpilot0 "It's basically 2K per eye, each with a very slightly different viewpoint to give a stereoscopic 3D image. So you're more or less seeing a 2K image"
To be honest, the image is really soft, in actuality it plays out to more of 900p image β€” definitely feels under true HD sharpness, to me.
Playing the Star Wars demo, the image quality of the enemies in particular are extremely soft. (But, at least the lighting and motion clarity is very realistic.)

Like everyone here I was clearly expecting much, much more β€” perhaps I got unreasonable expectations based off the early reviewers raving about how much of it leap it is (perhaps I misinterpreted that they were speaking largely about the graphics, when they might have been speaking to the package/experience as a whole).

I am still having a blast, though. I just can't believe I can play all of GT7 in the headset, and I can do it without it giving me migraines. This was a completely unexpected surprise...

Re: PSVR2: How to Reduce Motion Sickness

eagletrippin

What I was most excited about PSVR2 was being able to play sim racing games as I have a sim racing rig with wheel & pedals. Thankfully, I have not experienced any sickness (maybe, a tiny headache only) while playing a full 10-lap race in GT7 (in an extremely fast Super Formula car). This alone has me super excited & hopeful. In PSVR1, the second I hit the accelerator in GT Sport, it felt like my eyes rolled to the back of my head --- not the case here with PSVR2 and GT7.

That said, in Star Wars Edge of the Galaxy demo, the second I stepped foot into the bar and turned around, I got the VR headache.πŸ₯΄

I might jump in and get Kayak VR to see how it goes.

Re: PSVR2: How to Fix Blurry or Unclear Image Quality

eagletrippin

@Terry12 I would have to agree with this. The graphics are easily clearer & cleaner...but I guess I was expecting 4K sharpness all up in my face. It is extremely nice, however, that the screen door effect is quite massively reduced (although it is still somewhat there). And I still get blurriness as I look off-center and towards the edges of the viewing angle.
That said, it's still been pretty awesome.

Re: PSVR2: How to Fix Blurry or Unclear Image Quality

eagletrippin

@Total_Weirdo I have. I only have 1 actual PSVR2 game, Gran Turismo. And, ironically, so far, no VR sickness (headaches, for me) from that game, which I am absolutely DELIGHTED about.

BUT...I downloaded the Star Wars demo, and within 5 minutes, got the headache just walking around the bar/restaurant. Took my ginger before & during, too.

Re: PS5 Stock: Where To Buy PlayStation 5 in February 2023

eagletrippin

Was able to get a PS5 Digital (HFW bundle) from Gamestop (US) last week. When I clicked into the product listing, the 'Add to Cart' button was gone, and was replaced with a 'Not Available' button. But when I clicked the 'Not Available' button, it let me through to the checkout page. lol. A couple days later, it shipped.

Re: Poll: Was The Last of Us - Episode 3 the Best One Yet?

eagletrippin

@OrtadragoonX Yes, after replaying Part 1 last week, I knew that Bill was gay --- to be very clear, I have zero problem with this. The drastic changes I was referring to was how Frank died, and that Bill even dies in the first place. (And of course, the show veered far away from the game's storyline of Bill helping Joel & Ellie work their way through Bill's town filled with infecteds...and how much of an a-hole Bill was.)

Be that as it may, most of the scenes were just long & drawn out featuring lots of silence & very little dialogue. The sad love story just didn't land with me as much...

Re: Poll: Was The Last of Us - Episode 3 the Best One Yet?

eagletrippin

Loved the first 2 episodes, particular the 2nd. But this third episode was just too slow moving β€” to excess β€” featuring seemingly really dragged-out scenes. Seems like they needed to fit a love story in here, so they altered Bill's story fairly drastically to get it in there... Looking forward to next week's ep.

@Anthony_Daniels https://www.vg247.com/the-last-of-us-part-2-hate
Sooo, 99.99% of the game was filled with rage, but, Thank God, Ellie & Abby held off from stabbing & drowning each other at the end of the game, so it was all about truce & peace, even though Druckmann himself said otherwiseπŸ˜‚
People on the internet just need to debate every single syllable from others commenters' posts. Lol. The point was, it seems odd that that is how you would want to end a series such as this, with all of the rage and no real resolution for anyone playing the game...
That said, I'm with others, I'd prefer Naughty Dog to work on something else right now, they are too talented to get tunnel vision on only 1 or 2 IP's. Eventually I hope they could come back around to do a Part 3...the right way.

Re: Naughty Dog May Move On from The Last of Us Like It Did with Uncharted

eagletrippin

"He explains that if Naughty Dog 'can come up with a compelling story that has this universal message and statement about love', the team will make it happen."

So they are fine then ending with "a story about hate" (which was how they described TLOU2)? Ok. Fair. That game, while great, was divisive enough in terms of storyline/direction ...

Re: TV Show Review: The Last of Us (HBO) Episode 2 - Establishing a New Lore

eagletrippin

'The Kiss' creeped me the **** out. I was horrified and empathized for Tess in that moment. Did I prefer the original way that Tess died? Of course. Nevertheless, I theorize that in that moment, she was horrified, shell-shocked, and also the infection was coursing through her veins, so she was well on her way to turning at that point. Just happy she was able to get it lit just in time kill all of the infected in the building.

Great episode. And that scene ('The Kiss') I won't be able to un-see from my mind at least until the morning. lol
